The GenCyber camp is a gateway to many impactful and important places. The camp could lead me to a career in protecting data and keeping things safe and fairer for all, give me the eustress of a nice challenge, the skills to better able to protect my raspberry pi server, lead me into a place in my high school’s IT, and be a highly enjoyable experience. Programming, exploring software and code, and things of the sort are really fun for me. This camp will be doing software-related activities, and the chance to improve my skills, learn a lot, and overall, just enjoy the connection that I have with software, sounds like a perfect experience for me. I love a good challenge. After looking at your curriculum, I could see that I could learn a lot from this camp—while getting a substantial dose of eustress that I don’t get from other places in my life. I know this camp will help me improve my skills in programming and set up many paths in life for me. I am interested in going into computer science/cybersecurity as a career path. Protecting data, which has become such an important issue in this day and age (such as the Gmail phishing attack, the yahoo account breach), has been something I’ve always been very interested in. I can’t stand it when things are not fair, and black-hat hacking into …show more content…
It does basic merit evaluation through downloading data from yahoo finance in a PHP script, and can also screen for stocks. The one problem through all of this is that the server/webpage is not very protected. Currently, the index.php script has a basic password encryption, which is included in the PHP script, and the raspberry pi does not respond to pings, but there is still more protection that can be done. This camp will help me to be able to protect my own raspberry pi server from attack, and keep hackers from either taking the data or using the raspberry pi against me in any other
You meet new people and enjoy the quality time with your teammates. We as a team, learned about sticking together, and friendship, not only that but as well as team bonding. Cheerleading camp provides a different experience that carries through the rest of the season. You get to know you’re your teammates and get to experience something not a lot of people do. You get to learn your team’s strengths and weaknesses to see what all we have to work on when we get back home as well as how to learn to do new stunts and learn new
Since my first visit at the Air Force Academy as a young boy, I instantly realized this is where I want to go. Ironically, I never why I wanted to go, was it my parents will or the expectations of others and myself? As I started to mature and grow, I learned more about the academy and what it really meant to become a cadet. The opportunity to have a world class education pushed me to pursue acceptance to the Academy. Going to the Summer Seminar will give me a chance to explore many aspects of cadet life to further enrich my interest in the Academy.
There are dozens of benefits that camp graciously gives to campers which influence their daily life including friendships, independence, community, and competence. These universal values and skills are learned at all 7,000 sleepaway camps across the nation, creating more aware, socially conscious, and community oriented children from a young age. The tradition of camp will continue to exist due to the benefits it patently has. Although an adult can be successful without going to sleepaway camp; the exposer camp gives kids at a young age is incredibly beneficial. While camp influences who you become as an adult, it achieves its goal through a magical and memorable experience - something a lifetime camper will recognize and be thankful for as they reach adulthood.
Altogether, my perspective on this affiliation embraces the importance of education and safety across all of the United stated. The founder has surfaced a great importance to what may have been over looked. Furthermore, being that most children engage in camp experiences at some time in their life; as youngsters with the ability to absorb information like a sponge as well as being risk takers, it is imperative to hold education and safety as a high quality of a camp experience. Moreover, is the education of communicable disease along with prevention of outdoors dangers as I had mentioned before the West Nile Virus. In conclusion, I view the volunteers as inspirational people that bring knowledge to others, but most importantly benefiting the children.
Hey Kids, are you ready for a week full of fun? The YMCA’s summer week program will kick your boredom to the curb and get your out of the house for some summer fun.
The private sector owns approximately 85-90% of our cyber infrastructure, there’s need for a cohesive private-government partnership to enforce security. Individuals (whether internal to the organization or agency), political groups, religious groups, and organized crime groups pose threat to the United States and considered as a cyber-threat. To assess overall threat level, one must assess intent and technological capabilities unequivocally insider threats foster great risk. Surveillance of data handling brings about questions how employees may steal data, i.e. someone can put it on a USB stick, or does e-mail contain PII information and leave the company externally? (Geer, 2013). Although pedagogical strate...
Security helps the organization meet its business objectives or mission by protecting its physical and financial resources, reputation, legal position, employees, and other tangible and intangible assets through the selection and application of appropriate safeguards. Businesses should establish roles and responsibilities of all personnel and staff members. However, a Chief Information Officer should be appointed to direct an organization’s day to day management of information assets. Supporting roles are performed by the service providers and include systems operations, whose personnel design and operate the computer systems. Each team member must be held accountable in ensuring all of the rules and policies are being followed, as well as, understanding their roles, responsibilities and functions. Organizations information processing systems are vulnerable to many threats that can inflict various types of damage that can result in significant losses (Harris, 2014). Losses can come from actions from trusted employees that defraud the system, outside hackers, or from careless data entry. The major threat to information protection is error and omissions that data entry personnel, users, system operators and programmers make. To better protect business information resources, organizations should conduct a risk analysis to see what
The Virginia Park Service manages the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC), a program working for three weeks in a state park with ten girls and no electronics. I was excited to serve my community and the environment. I assumed other applicants felt the same.
Ever Since 2012; my parents sent me to a summer camp in Switzerland called “International Camp Suisse”. The camp is usually for two weeks. However, my parents decided to make me stay for 4 weeks. This made me to know the staff better and the place more. In 2013 and 2014 my Parents also sent me to the camp; but this time only for 2 weeks each year. However, in 2014 I was bestowed with “The Camp Suisse King” award; which was an incredible experience of recognition for me.
Cyber security is the designing, creating, using, and repairing most technological and mechanical equipment. This includes programing and creating new technology before it is mass produced in order to insure safety and quality. It also cover the use of programs to protect and fix technological and mechanical equipment from malfunctions, viruses, and hackers. Lastly, cyber security includes the repairing and upkeep of most electronically designed systems. This job is important because most of today’s world is entirely made up of system that need to be protected, maintained, and constantly improved. This jobs needed in order to keep developed countries stable and able to keep developing,
Having spent the better part of six summers hiking, cooking, orienteering, and practicing archery on the trails of Huddart Park, California, summer camp became a very precious time of my life. When I entered high school, I began working as a Unit Aide at my camp which meant I had the privilege to now teach young girls a whole slew of tasks such as survival skills, first aid, and knife skills. While attending Woodside Priory High School, I heard about similar activities such as archery and overnights that Mountain Camp counselors hosted. Chris Gregory encouraged me to look into the camp and see if it was something I might take interest in, and I soon discovered that it definitely captured my attention. I adore working with kids and would especially
Although all of the legal parameters are not presented to the public, they maintain common ethical standards to protect our citizens. I don’t think cybersecurity receives enough recognition for their contribution to this nation’s security. The training is extensive, the skills are mandatory, and the mistakes are catastrophic, so a lot of pressure is placed on the employees in this field. Cybersecurity may never fully be understood by someone who is not tangibly involved, but the dedication and effort cybersecurity provides is priceless. Computer security is a must and without it all things could fall apart.
Since my introduction to your math camp by my father, I have constantly been intrigued about the idea of working and learning with a group of students who are as interested in math as I am. The last time I’ve been among such a group was at the 2017 New York State Math League Competition, and even then, I felt like I couldn’t enjoy the environment and community as much as I could have because of the pressurized, competitive mood. At WCMC, I expect nothing less than a rigorous learning experience, but I am also looking to be able to spend time with like-minded peers who share my passions.
My strong curiosity towards the field of Cybersecurity dates back to my pre-university days when I started reading sci-fi novels. Digital Fortress, a techno-thriller novel written by Dan Brown, explored the theme of government surveillance, security and civil liberties. This theme is brought out in the book by portraying cryptographic techniques, security policies and implications of these policies. This gravitated me towards the field of security. With little programming experience, I was eager to begin my nascent adventure in the field of Cybersecurity. Although I’ve gained exposure in the field of security during the course of my Bachelor’s degree, I believe pursuing a master’s degree in Cybersecurity will allow me to explore the field of security in greater depth and utilize it effectively to address more real-world challenges.
