I believe school students should be taught how to write in cursive as a required part of the curriculum. According to the article, "Cursive Is a Powerful Brain Tool", it is stated that, "Medical brain scans show that writting in cursive helps with fine motor-skill development and stimulates both the right and left part of your brain." Learning how to write in cursive doesn't only help your brain become more developed, it also helps students with dyslexia or those who have a reading disorder.
Many poeple believe that because of the technology we have today students are required to have computer skills, not be able to write in cursive. "Students in both highs chool and college are expected to turn in typed, rather than handwritten, papers."
In The article “Brainology” “Carol S Dweck, a professor of psychology at Stanford University, differentiates between having a fixed and growth mindset in addition how these mindsets have a deep effect on a student’s desire to learn. Individuals who have a fixed mindset believe they are smart without putting in effort and are afraid of obstacles, lack motivation, and their focus is to appear smart.. In contrast, students with a growth mindset learn by facing obstacles and are motivated to learn. Dwecks argues that students should develop a growth mindset.
In Carol Dweck’s “Brainology” the article explains how our brain is always being altered by our experiences and knowledge during our lifespan. For this Dweck conducted a research in what students believe about their own brain and their thoughts in their intelligence. They were questioned, if intelligence was something fixed or if it could grow and change; and how this affected their motivation, learning, and academic achievements. The response to it came with different points of views, beliefs, or mindset in which created different behavior and learning tendencies. These two mindsets are call fixed and growth mindsets. As far as I could remember I was never really any good at school. I couldn’t concentrate on things for no more than 5 minutes at a time I would either get discouraged or find it too easy and just give up. An author by the name of Carol Dweck wrote an article called “Brainology” in it Dweck describes that there are two types of mindsets fixed and growth. Those who are afraid to fail so they never try anything new are ones with a fixed mindset and the growth mindset are those who are not afraid to fail and find a new challenge an opportunity to learn something new. I guess you can say that I had a bit of a fixed mindset growing up I was always too scared to look stupid that I didn’t want to fail because I didn’t want to disappoint my siblings
While reading "Neuromancer", one may become extremely baffled if he or she cannot interpret the terminology used or the framework in which the book is written. Hence, the use of the formalistic approach is necessary in order for the reader to actually understand the concepts trying to be declared by Gibson. Through the formalistic approach one can begin to see that Gibson uses repetition, and specific word choice to set the tone for the novel, and imagery to relate the content of the book to the lives of his readers.
A growth mindset is the belief that you can learn anything you want without a limit. You will not give up and face any challenge in life until you overcome it. A fixed mindset is the belief that you can learn till you reach a certain point. Also, that you will not succeed in life and as soon as you come across a tough challenge you will let it bring you down and won’t ever get back up or face that challenge. Since reading “Brainology” by Carol Dweck, I discovered that I have a growth mindset and fragments of a fixed mindset my whole life.
Cursive should not be taught in schools! Schools don’t need cursive. There are other things that kids could be doing in class. Read my next paragraph to find out what and why.

We want students to be able to express themselves, and be assessed on this skill, yet these same students have to rely on electronic devices not only for writing, but for grammar and vocabulary. Most schools don’t have funding to place a computer in every student’s hands, so they should not be asked to replace writing with typing. Learning to write by hand should be taught in elementary school because of its impact on learning to read, self-expression and higher education.
The brains ability to adapt, and handle the lost of a sense is proof enough that the internet is changing people. However Oliver sacks author of “the minds eye”: proves to us that not all blind people or human beings in general are effect the same way by lose. Sacks talks about in his article that the human brain does not stop learning and evolving past a certain age. It is because of this finding that it is remarkable able that the blind are able to adapt with their disability. It is because of the internet Carr says that “now my concentration often starts to drift after two or three pages. I get fidgety, lose the thread, begin looking for something else to do. I feel as if I’m always dragging my wayward brain back to the text . The deep reading that used to come naturally has become a struggle”(67). The influence technology has on Carr's mind might scare him, however with the knowledge Sacks has discovered it is possible to relate the loss of deep reading to blindness. Therefore if the brain is able to conform to the loss of sight the same could be said about the loss of deep reading. The blind have been shown to adapt to there new lack of vision; however, where does the adapting measures of the blind relate to Carr's argument about the ease of technology.
