Computers are everywhere, and they are used for everything, and in every type of business have we become too dependent on computers?
The younger generation particularly has seized on the strange communication through the Internet. Using chat groups on different subjects they are taking in school, they conduct live conversations by keyboard through the internet.
Since computers have been invented, so many people everywhere find themselves dependent on computers. Computers are appearing almost about every aspect of our lives, and in most cases, they are making things very easy r for us. Computers permit us to work from home, mingle with our friends and family who live a great distant from us, and they are a great stress relief when we return home from school or work and just want to relieve some stress and have fun. But as we rely on computers more and more to get through the day, the question is still to be asked: are we too dependent on computers?
In spite of the many benefits of computers, there are also quite a few arguments about them, one of which is the bad effect some believe they are having on children's education and learning. Before computers became really popular where almost every household had one students did research papers manually and used a type writer to type papers or hand write their papers, illiteracy is a big issue, and many people say that computers are the reason for that. Younger students these days are asked to type papers which may not be a problem for older students but for younger students they need to do assignments that are hand written to develop their writing skills. If a younger student is typing all their assignments it can have a great affect on their grammar because they are using the comp...

...iety as a whole is very dependent on computers weather it’s playing games, chatting online, shopping, emailing family and friends or emailing a coworker the next aisle over. Many business are so dependent on computers that they are now storing all their information on their computers hard drive and not giving thought if the computer crash. Many department stores are now computer based and do not have any other way to check out a customer if their system go down I remember waiting in line and the store’s computer went many customers left stating they didn’t not want to wait for the system to come back up because of the dependency of computers the store lost many potential customers. Computers are not bad to have and use but to be dependent may not be so good and if a business is dependent on a computer it may want to have a backup system just in case of an emergency.
Gelernter admits the computers are very helpful for educational purposes if the people use it wisely. He suggests, “Computers have the potential to accomplish great things. With right software, it could help make science tangible or teach neglected topic like art and music.” (278). But while admitting the power of technology, he also points out the adverse effects of excessive use of technology in the education system. He states, “Computers make our worst educational nightmare come true.” (279). According to him the improper or overuse of computer hinders the learning ability. He reports the fact that over past few years computers has been assumed to be a necessity in America’s classrooms. Computers have been introduced to children from the elementary levels. The more we use and/or rely on computer technology, the more risky it gets. As Neil Postman has said, technology gives us something, it will take away something, I’d like to make a very small change to that and I declare that technology gives us a few things but take away many and the most fundamental things away. And I believe that the reason why no one really speaks about the disadvantages of computer technology is because the marketing of the products will certainly affect the product launching company. I hope one day we all realize where life’s taking us and try to find a resolution even though it may be a little late. But neither does trying not hurt nor a little outcome is better than
We already have automated machines designed to make life easier for us: vacuum cleaners, car washes, dishwashers, laundry machines, litter-box scoopers, etc. We have many automated technologies that we can set to our personal preference, such as Tv and radio stations, thermostats, lighting, etc. Bill Gates even has a feature in his house that will switch out different paintings depending on who is standing in the room. We humans like shortcuts and simple luxuries, but with technology taking away so much of our workload we are enabling ourselves to be lazy. We are already dependent on technology. In the least, we are already severely addicted to it. How many hours are spent wasted glued to our cell phones, watching Tv or surfing the web? How would you communicate with your friends and family without telephones or email? How would we cook without our gas/electric stoves and microwaves? How would we store our food without refrigeration? How would we see at night? How would we get around? Obviously, we are already in over our heads with our relationship to
The Internet has changed the way younger people communicate in a variety of ways. Children and young people use the Internet to learn, communicate, interact socially, innovate, and to keep them entertained by playing games. Children communicate through chat rooms, e-mails, messenger, and by posting comments on their friends’ walls. Some younger people also use the Internet when it comes to homework and doing research. With the entire social action-taking place behind the computer screen, many people are concerned with the lack of social skills among young people. The Internet is the main problem to not being able to converse with people when it comes to face-to-face interaction. Young people get so comfortable with communicating behind technology
Think about the future, even now children and young adults can 't live without their iPhones, iPads, consoles and other pieces of technology. However, it 's not only teens and children that are practically addicted to their tech, businessmen/woman and anyone that works for a business or a company, small or big, are on their computers,
Computer has made the life easier by providing various applications and technologies. For example, while computer has replaced typewriter, it helps the students to become a better writer as they can “revise text, rearrange paragraphs, and experiment with the tone and shape of an essay” () while using word processing. Thus, the computer helps the students to improvise their writing. Human relationship with co...
Gone are the days when computers used to be owned by big corporations and were so expensive and complicated to handle that common public couldn't even dream of having one. Nowadays, there is a computer in virtually every household in America. People of all ages and from every walk of life use computers according to their specific requirements. Professionals working in an office to a housewife at home all are using computers for their benefits. It has become an indispensable tool for us.
...ttention and focus to reduce the negative impacts on development of children. Research suggests that technology use and especially computers enhances development of children when properly used. On the other hand, the uncontrolled use of technology in childhood education may produce negative effects and impair development in children. Uses of technology in childhood education range from enhancing social interactions, language development to initial computer use skills. It is important to note that, technology use in children education is a matter of how it can be harnessed for the purposes of learning in children. Research by health professionals argues that technology use in children education can produce detrimental health effects especially obesity. Thus, children exposure to technological gadgets like computers and tablets among others should be greatly checked.
“Computers play a key role in almost every sphere of life” (Berry, Terrie). Without them, everything would be different. People all around the world own or used a computer. Whether you are a professional in technology or just an average person, computers are still very important in your everyday life. “No other technology has accessed the world like computers and the use of the Internet have” (Maddox, Amanda). Without computers, consumers would not be able to do half the things as quickly as we can. Advances in computer design have increased its use for different industries, especially in the medical field.
their dorm room or apartment is sit down at their computer and go online. They proceed to either, read their e-mail, check their online courses for new assignments, or go on one of the many communication websites or programs that are available currently to this generation. None of this would be possible without the readily available Internet access that we often take for granted. The Internet has proven not only useful for entertainment purposes, but has also dramatically changed the educational approach, for both students and educators, and the way knowledge is being obtained.
The Impact of ICT on Society I will talk about how ICT has effected people from all walks of life, how it has effected jobs and living conditions. = == == ==
The biggest and easiest seen change that computers have had on today’s society can be seen in the workplace. Before computers became an office tool and were made available to the average employee, paperwork and sharing information in an office setting was done by many different individuals constantly filing and looking up figures. Now a computer can store large amounts of information that is readily available to virtually anyone with the click of a mouse button. One person can complete a job that in a time before computers would take many. Computers have made file cabinets and libraries almost obsolete. Businesses can share information nation or even world wide in a matter of seconds. For example, a word document file can be sent from an office in New York to an office in Los Angeles in under a minute, in the past this same information would have taken a week to be sent through the mail. Computers have changed the way that factories are run too. On an assembly line, before computers every job, no matter how easy or difficult, had to be done by an employee. Now, however, computers run machines and do most of these tasks.
Technology is making our lives easier than ever, but are we getting too dependent on it? Technology is improving over the past decades. It has become a part and parcel of everyday life. Without it, people would have a lot of trouble keeping pace with the whole world. At the same time, todays new generations are incredibly dependent on it.
Computer technology not only has solved problems but also has created some, including a certain amount of culture shock as individuals attempt to deal with the new technology. A major role of computer science has been to alleviate such problems, mainly by making computer systems cheaper, faster, more reliable, easier to use.
Once more, yes we are too dependent on computers in light of the fact that the human cerebrum, which computes this magnificent world unconsciously in the almost insensible way, lets us enjoy, live and create.
