Is there many differences between Singapore and USA? Well, I have been to both countries and yes there are a huge differences between both countries. These are some of the main differences, am going to talk about is geography, cultural and economics. The first different was in the geography of Singapore, small, flat, coastline while being very humid. Even though, Singapore is only 720 square kilometers, it hold up to five and a half millions people in population. While, USA have 9,900,000 square kilometers, hold around 325 million in population. Even though, US have an enormous land mass, most of it is desert and mountains. This make it very crowded around the coast, because the climate is much better compare to the desert. For the people live around the coast, they are similar in life styles. The second different was their cultural, …show more content…
Singapore is very diverse culture. People from Taiwan, China, Viet Nam, etc., they have very good and diverse food too. The rules here is very strict, for example; you cannot smoke somewhere that have a roof, if you do you would get a $200 fines, spitting gum the price for it will be $1000, etc. this is one of the reason, people here are organize. If you see a wallet on a table, or chair, it not that they forgotten it, it because they want to say that the sit have an owner. US the culture is completely different, here people are from all over the world. They immigrate because their country do not offer what they want, the freedom of speech. In tradition, most young adult that graduated high school, often move out and find their own life. This make the young American become independent early, since they are on their own. The third differences is the economics, Singapore they are the third richest country in the world GDP per capita.
Singapore government main focus is on technology and chemical, but they are lacked in raw resources, because Singapore does not have land to this mean you cannot build a farm. Also, they have the ocean around them they cannot use it because it is salt water, this make water a very precious resource. The reason, Singapore is a top world ranking for economics, they have the government creating and helping company to grow. While, America are the ninth richest country in the world for GPD per capita, they can create demands. Google, Apple, Microsoft, etc. these companies have headquarters in America, which give them the advantage over other countries for their technologies. In addition, they create jobs for people, which means people can afford things, to create demands. Even though, Singapore and USA are both different countries, they are both magnificent. I was lucky, to get the chance to visit and explore Singapore and USA geography, cultural and
economics.
When the English settled into the New World, they were split up into two sections, the Chesapeake region and the New England region. Although the English settled both, the two regions were severely different from each other when they were brought about. The New England and Chesapeake colonies differed in three ways: their reason for venturing over, economy, and population. These major differences were what shaped our nation today and what will continue shaping our nation in the future.
As colonies of the British Empire, both the New England and Chesapeake regions were inhibited by innumerable immigrants of English origin. Despite this common characteristic, the two areas greatly differed from each other. New England was more tolerant and community based whereas the Chesapeake was focused more directly on personal wealth and land. While they both drew from British influence, the distinct conditions in each region caused them to develop separately and become unique in their own way.
Every colonies in the world have their similarities and differences, but colonies of themselves have main issues such as religion, economies, and labor systems; wealth and status plays a huge role in the colonies’ advancement and success. Virginia and New England colonies were very influential although they went through many struggles with each other to get through where they are now. The similarity between Virginia and New England was mainly ethnicity, but the demographics of the two areas are different.
Q 1. The American colonies were divided into three distinct regions and these regions were different from each other in their origins, populations, economics and agriculture, religious makeup, and connection to England .write an essay comparing and contrasting the New England, middle, and southern colonies with specific examples.
Despite both coming from English origin, the two regions are very different from one another. The Chesapeake, a region more for investment and wealth and New England being a region more as a religious haven. The two regions diverged into two distinct societies mostly from the different location of the two and the issues that arised from there. Even though they both became different by the 17th century, the two regions would unite despite huge differences when the quest for independence begins.
they have some similarities and differences between Vietnam and the US, such as education, food and social rules. The education system in the United States put the students as the center, efforts and ensure student needs are supported. Food processing in Vietnam is an important indispensable in daily life, but Americans do not spend a lot of time to cook. Society in Vietnam many prejudices and have strict than Americans, they respect ism of personal freedom more than other countries.
Europeans and Americans have much more in common than most people think, making adjustments to life in a new country easier. Many customs are similar to practices in the United States. Germans have their own way of being German. Germany is a relatively small and densely populated country. Unlike the United States, which is a large, densely populated country.
The Chesapeake Colonies and The New England colonies were similar in a few ways and differed in multiple ways. Both colonies were English, had conflict with Indians and both brought many people from England who were seeking a better life. The colonies differed in many ways including; family size and age, Economy and religion.
The way that family members relate in these countries conflict with each other. The differences start developing in the beginning of their lives. American children are taught by their parents how to manage and make their own money. They are taught to value accomplishments and work at an early age. They also have duties at home such as being responsible for helping with house tasks.
When looking back to colonial times, we often do not look at the differences between the New England colonies and the Virginia Colonies. Both of the colonies were similar when it came to certain aspects of living, however they had differences such as slavery, family stability, diversity in occupations, education, and more.
I chose to compare and contrast the United States culture with the culture of Japan. There are a few similarities between the two, such as a love of the arts, fashion and baseball. However, they are culturally different than similar in very major aspects. Japan is a very homogenous society made up of about 98% ethnic Japanese. They tend to put a lot of emphasis on family and communities, and value the group more than the individual (Aliasis, 2013).
Comparative advantage means that an industry, firm, country or individual are able to produce goods and services at a lower opportunity cost than others which are also producing the same goods and services. Also, in order to be profitable, the number in exports must be higher than the number in import. From the diagram we seen above, Singapore is seen to have a comparative advantage in some services. The services are Transport, Financial, business management, maintenance & Repair and Advertising & Market Research, etc. These export services to other countries improve the balance of payment. On the other side, Singapore is seen to have a comparative disadvantage in some services. The services are Travel, Telecommunications, Computer & Information,
In conclusion, I believe that in smaller nations like Singapore, it always for policies and the government to be able to efficiently change what needs to be improved upon. The strict rules, the mentality within the individuals and the structure of the nation also play a big part in the success of the Singapore healthcare system. In countries like the US, they should carry out policies on a state to state basis and cater to the different communities according to their needs. It is hard to impose a one-off solution to a play as diverse as the United States.
Film critics and audiences have dubbed I Not Stupid an excellent commentary on the education system and government paternalism. The movie stars three school children who have been channelled into the undesirable EM3 stream, and shows the trials and tribulation of these children and their parents. I Not Stupid has been described as a "coming of age movie"1 for its rare ability to criticise the government and its policies and bring pertinent issues to light, so much so that many are surprised that it managed to get past the not-too-kind local board of censors. This presents us with an interesting question - with its explicit references to the government and its blatant criticisms of government policies, how did this political satire get past the censorship board? Was it a case of the censors deciding that this sort of criticism was acceptable once in a while? Or perhaps the censors just saw the movie differently. At first mention, the latter might sound very unlikely. However, if we ask ourselves what the real butt of the satire is, we might begin to realise that there is a possibility that this movie is not intended to be a political satire at all. In fact, it is my contention that the butt of the satire in this movie is the Singaporean mentality, and not the government.
The island is only 26 miles long and 14 miles wide in area. This means it is about one-fourth the size of long island, New York. The area of Singapore does not remain constant, however, because they frequently added the landfill when they needed more space for buildings. Its more than 5.5 million people live in the city. The official languages are Chinese, English, Malay, and Tamil (the language of southern India). At least 80 percent of Singapore’s citizens speak and understand rudimentary English (CIA The World Factbook, 2014). Singapore is only 87 miles north of the equator. It has no marked change of seasons. The average temperature the year round is 88 degrees Fahrenheit and the average annual rainfall is over 90 inches because the entire island surrounded by the sea. Singapore steams in the sun and humidity is often very high (World Travel Guide, 2014). The island of Singapore was a part of the Malay Peninsula by the geologists. The early history of Singapore blended with the present day of Malaysia. From the seventh to the eleventh century, there is little recorded history of the island. The first written
