In the domestic level, CSX in terms of the capacities for train traffic is to a certain restricted as per the Environmental Code that is set by the Transportation Rail Ministry where the companies are supposed to reduce their shipments due to ecology and environmental concerns (Patty, 2015). The legal regulations mandate CSX Corporation to accommodate both the shortened stocks and short line railroads that might lead to reduced productivity and the efficiencies of domestic and intermodal operations of the freight. The political intentions of systemizing the rail routes so that they can be able to gain additional taxes depict CSX corporations cost managements with regards to the expenditures on the obligatory equipment.
Further on, the global environment holds additional political and legal barriers that hinder the day to day performance of the company. As such, the ISO (International Standards Organization) starts a divergent standard of transportation compared to the standards that are given by the Ministry of Transportation in the United States (Patty, 2015). There are various rules for corporate transparency and accountability that obliges the providers of transportation to adopt new compliance forms, international taxation, employment and the industrial
Instead of the above letter, assume that at Pablo’s retirement dinner, the chairman of the board of directors of Xerxes Corps., in his speech, said “In view of the fact that you have been faithful to Xerxes Corp. for 30 years and have resisted efforts of our competitors to hire you away from us, the corporation promises to pay you a pension of $100,000 a year for life.” Pablo stood up and said, “I accept your pension promise with gratitude.” Is Xerxes Corps.’s promise enforceable by Pablo and if not, what would be necessary to make it enforceable? ...to deal with inbound and outbound logistics, one that is made up mostly of the personnel from outbound logistics. These professionals deal with the second core competency of Deere, logistics, separate from the manufacturing of tractors and lawnmowers. The creation of this team helps eliminate the risk Fedex’s poor performance (managers were not pleased with Fedex’s centralized transportation management service) and need to measure performance of a 3rd part continuously. As a result, performance is self-managed. We expect as the IT system is used to optimize and plan transportation routes amongst inbound and outbound trucks, cost savings will increase more rapidly. We believe internal continuous improvement, leaner logistics operations and synergies amongst all logistics activities will lead to the $69 million goal being met by the third year after implementation.

The trucking industry over the years have changed the type of services and the quality that it has provides to its customers. ...number of people depending on the movement of goods and transportation is always going to be a large portion of the population. “ This is perhaps the most important force in shifting from the old paradigm. Because customers want products when, where, and how they choose, distribution is increasingly a vital component of the supply chain” (Kirchhoff M, Peacock J. 2005). Expanding the clearing yards to a larger number of rails should begin to decrease the amount of congestion the city is witnessing with their freight traffic. Even the problems are being stressed amongst the citizens of the state. The arrival times are unpredictable and are breaking down all the time. Being old like the rest of the rail infrastructure it needs to be repaired as well. “About $8.7 billion is needed to bring it up to "good repair" but no funding plan is in place” (Van Hampton, T. 2007).

Finding ways to move goods from one point to another at a reasonable cost and within an acceptable time frame is a growing challenge for global businesses today. The costs and risks associated with transportation are increasing with the advent of globalization and low-cost-country sourcing. Even for companies with local operations only, they have to supply their products to various parts of a country which increases the costs and risks. Since the cost of gasoline has been on an upward trend, high level of efficiency in transportation is required to lower the costs involved and the risks associated with the costs. Costs concepts in transportation include economic, social and accounting costs. The risks and costs involved increases if the various modes of transport are used. There has been concern over many businesses failure to strategically think when they employ multimodal transportation services. Many businesses prefer the least expensive multimodal model instead of choosing the most effective; this trade-off is very expensive with hidden costs and risks increasing significantly (Molenaar, Anderson, Schexnayder, National Research Council (U.S.)., National Cooperative Highway Research Program., American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials., & United States, 2010).

Private persons, big and small businesses at a point would have to either send or receive parcels, shipment, among other things. This cannot be done without the help of cargo companies, which are highly involved in the process of transportation of goods and services from one point to the other, but in short and long distances. And the demand to have this parcel and shipment delivered in a faster and more secured way , has brought about a high competition among several companies in the world , and they all have adopted both similar and also different measures to tackle the issues they deal with in the delivering order and tracking issues.
The transportation & logistics industry is a form of industry that keeps people and products on the move, it includes airlines and airports, shipping companies, logistics service providers and other transportation companies. That’s why it is considered the backbone of modern global supply chains. In a place like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that has diverse geography with a dry desert and great temperature extremes and a large area of about 2.1 million square km, a transportation & logistics industry is a necessity. Imagine you need to move from one city to another (of course it will be so hard to cross large areas of empty deserts) you have only two options to transfer from one to another city; the first option is to drive and the second option is to fly and ship your car via a car transport carrier. The harsh climate in Saudi Arabia makes people to prefer using the second option, this cause the market of transport market to enlarge. Albassami International Group is one of the biggest companies established to satisfy those needs. It is considered one of the biggest companies specialized in vehicle transportation in the Middle East. . ISO 14001 is a management standard, it is not a performance or product standard. The underlying purpose of ISO 14001 is that companies will improve their environmental performance by implementing ISO 14001, but there are no standards for performance or the level of improvement. It is a process for managing company activities that impact the environment.
