Suleima Gomez Ms. Crawford Comp 1 September, 12 2016 Crucial Childhoods A person’s childhood years are crucial when it comes to the development of behavior, success, and parenting skills as an adult, because they are the foundation on which these ideas are built. As children, people are taught basic tasks such as eating with a spoon, speaking, putting socks on in the morning, and walking . These tasks escalate into more important lessons like manners, how curse words are inappropriate to use in public, and learning how to express one’s emotions. As a child, a person also has to learn how to develop emotional bonds with people. Throughout these years, the mind is constantly learning while rapidly trying to adapt to its surroundings. Children who showed that they could help, cooperate with, and solve problems with their peers on their own (as opposed to those who did not) were the children who grew up to earn college degrees and go for higher job positions in life. Those who showed limited social skills grew up to have an increased chance of getting arrested, binge drinking, and not going to college. Children who have working mothers have a higher chance at success as well. It is inevitable, children and adults constantly evolve and the evolution of this population requires an ongoing scientific investigation (Eberbach & Crowley, 2009). The scientific investigation of the evolution of children and adults is described as developmental psychology. Developmental psychologists establish theories of developmental trajectories, interpersonal, intrapersonal, emotional, and cognitive processing. Moreover, developmental psychologists endeavor to provide descriptive and expository research to enhance client and professional development (Machery, 2011).

To start examining these long-term affects, this article suggests that a committee be brought together with professionals of many different areas who work with the child and have observed their growth. Research should span across the child’s physical, mental, and behavioral health areas. Having professionals from many different disciplines allows for a wider expanse of knowledge of the development of a particular child. From the perspective I have at this stage in my journey in the early childhood education field, I would like to share what I have come to value and believe in regards to early learning and care by looking at my philosophy statement. To begin we will look at the statement and highlight three key features and find out why they are important to me, then we will see what they will look like in my practice, and lastly we will examine these ideas closely by looking at where they originated. A few of the physical changes I have noticed in the children are many. Some of those include cooing, standing, and walking. The first incident was when the first child arrived in the morning. After mom left O, the caregiver placed her on the floor and was talking to her, the child cooed back and was laughing. I never heard O laugh before, also when the caregiver placed her on the floor O was reaching for toys and bending her body almost in half as she reached for the farthest toys away from her, then she sat up effortlessly. O was not doing this at the beginning of my practicum, she could not bend and reach for the toys. The next child I observed was standing holding on. B was using one hand to hold onto the furniture and then he would let go with one hand and bend and
The mother who works as a professional has an extremely different influence on her children than one who works in a less intellectually demanding job or one who does not work at all. Children learn from the environment and the people that they are exposed to in life, especially in the early stages. When children are exposed to hard working parents it helps them to appreciate the value of responsibility and independence. The importance of a good education is immeasurable and is also a necessity for a child to grow into a prosperous adult. It is supposed to be a time of enjoyment, innocence, and exploration. My childhood was an unforgettable experience. I got to encounter different things in unusual ways. There was nothing to stress about, I almost had no duties or issues. However, my childhood was different from others because unlike other children, I spent my most treasured years of life in the boarding school for almost fourteen years where I was raised and taught valuable lessons about life such as disciplines and manners. I have some of my greatest memories from back then which will never be forgotten. I will always cherish these memories of my childhood because I have learned a lot from it and it made me the person I am today.
Childhood is the most unforgettable period of my life. Everyone has childhood memories. My childhood memories took place in Eritrea. These memories that are happiest and saddest memories are still in my mind. Sometimes I remember things that have happened in my childhood period and they just make me laugh. Childhood memories can be bad or good, but we can’t forget them. For these reasons, childhood memories are the most important parts of my life.
