However, my mind has changed since Freshman year. Once I started to attend more classes that are in my major, I fell more in love with the Criminal Justice System. For Instance, Intro to Criminal Justice allowed me to analyze the system as a whole. I was able to learn more about the different types of crimes that are being committed within our communities. I was introduced to all of the information that I would be exposed to within this field. Another class that I really enjoyed was American Judicial Systems. This class allowed me to learn more about the way the courts are being operated. I was able to learn about what factors are needed to determine if someone is a criminal. I was able to learn more about the court cases that have contributed to some of the laws that are currently in place. For Instance, I was able to learn more about the history and significance of the Miranda V. Arizona case. Not only did this class teach me more about the court system, but it helped me realize that I am very interested in Law. Also, the American Corrections class gave me new insight on the correctional system and its operations. These classes have showed me that I should not limit myself to just Crime Scene Investigation because there is so much about the Criminal Justice System that I am passionate about. These classes have taught me that the Criminal Justice System is far from perfect. Yet, I would still love to work in this field because I love the challenges that it comes along with

Within the Federal Government there are three main branches; “the Legislative, the Judicial, and Executive” (Phaedra Trethan, 2013). They have the same basic shape and the same basic roles were written in the Constitution in 1787.
If given this prompt at the beginning of this semester I would have answered with a resounding yes, the criminal justice system is racist. The classes I have previously taken at LSU forced me to view the criminal justice system as a failed institution and Eric Holder’s interview in VICE - Fixing The System solidified that ideology. The system is man-made, created by people in power, and imposed on society, so of course there will be implicit biases. The issue is that these internally held implicit biases shaped the system, leading the racial and class disparities. VICE – Fixing The System addressed heavily the outcomes that we see in today’s society based on these implicit biases. Additionally, this documentary focuses on the ways that mainly

My first exposure to the criminal justice system was while in high school when I was fortunate to be chosen for an internship with a District Judge John Vance in Dallas, Texas. Judge Vance made certain I had a rich and varied experience. He had me to sit in on several high profile cases in his court and to participate in preparing cases for trial with a prosecutor and defense attorney. In addition, he encouraged me to visit other courtrooms and courthouses to observe the proceedings. This along with him coordinating visits at local jails and law enforcement agencies gave me a broad and well-rounded perspective of the criminal justice system. I recall fondly, sitting in on closing arguments at the federal courthouse; the prosecutors practiced
I have always taken an interest in Criminal Justice and crime prevention ever since middle school and I set out to make my career goal to become a Criminal Justice professional. Thus, pursuing a Criminal Justice master’s degree has been a part of my plans for the future and will become one of my core focuses that I will set up in my graduate studies. It will also enable me to become a more competent working professional and encourage me to advance towards the doctoral program.
Something happened my sophomore year of high school that little did I know would change my perspective, not only of myself, but life in general. I was looking for something new and exciting to enhance my high school existence and decided to give the Criminal Justice Club a try. I was familiar with the advisor of the club, but knew that the club had astigmatism for attracting those students who were just looking for something easy to do. I knew about the criminal justice system, but only what they show on Law and Order. However, I immediately fell in love, not only with the club but the entire prospect of Criminal Justice. I stepped into the club as if it were a place I belonged and easily became a leader. I was able to learn things the TV shows
1. My decision to enroll in this class is because I have a major interest in the criminal justice field. This interest is greatly influenced by my daughter. I wanted to become a good role model for her. Another reason would be my three older brothers and my mom and dad. My younger brother is in the National Guard. Before I started CCC I was planning on enrolling in the army with my interest in the Military Police. I decided to enroll in school because I could not bare leaving my daughter behind for so long. My interest in the criminal justice profession began with the interest of a police officer. I have always expressed interest in this job. I then, began learning about the different positions that was in the career field. I am unsure now, about what career I will be pursuing as so many of the careers offer good opportunities. My educational goals would be to finish my last year of school and begin in a position
The criminal justice system is composed of three parts – Police, Courts and Corrections – and all three work together to protect an individual’s rights and the rights of society to live without fear of being a victim of crime. According to merriam-webster.com, crime is defined as “an act that is forbidden or omission of a duty that is commanded by public law and that makes the offender liable to punishment by that law.” When all the three parts work together, it makes the criminal justice system function like a well tuned machine.

In fact, I have been passionate about criminal justice since middle school. Criminal justice gives me an indescribable feeling every time I talk or read about it. Also, I love the each crime has its own uniqueness and patterns. For example, the murder, the motives, where and how the crime happen is totally different each time. This semester in “Introduction to Criminal Justice” I have learned a vast amount of information that will help me with careers in the criminal justice field. Throughout this class we have been able to see several jobs that are from each area of criminal justice. After this semester I know criminal justice is the degree that I want to stick with. No matter what job I do I will be able to make an impact in someone's life. Reward is better than the salary. When going into criminal justice one must know that they are not going to be making a whole lot of money but making a difference will make it all worth it.
I want to be able to affect people’s lives in a positive way and be apart of restoring people’s faith in law enforcement. It’s difficult to want to do a job in which many people view police officers as the enemy. In todays society people do not even bat an eye when an officer is killed in the line of duty, but if an officer kills someone they are heavily scrutinize by the media. It’s a difficult job to do but having the chance to save lives and help people in bad situations seems something that would be rewarding time and time again. Upon completing my bachelor’s degree at Fresno State, I would like to purse a career as a police officer and gain the experience that I need in order to advance my career and go to the federal level. I know it will be a tough road getting through the academy and then completing the probation period with a field-training officer, but I look forward to the challenge. Ideally I would like to work a few years of patrol and then go into a specialized unit or sometime type of detective work. At that point if I’m qualified enough, I would like to obtain a job at the federal level with agencies such as the D.E.A, F.B.I. or C.I.A. Assuming that I am successful with my career goals, I could see myself working as a detective at local police department. Although I would be open to moving because I have always been told to go where the money is and
