You just arrived to a place, a huge place you then decide whether you think you belong here or not. You then realize there are different cultures around you and then you think that you do belong here,because you then know that you have came here to achieve your dream,your American dream. In the Hakim 8 “What Is An American” article Crevecoeur said “Here individuals of all nations are melted into a new race of men,whose labors and posterity will one day cause great change in the world.” Does this make you a American or does it not.People are arguing that this does make them “American” while others state this does not make them American. For example while saying the “The Pledge of Allegiance” saying this shows that people in this country is patriotic and that the Americans respect where they live. According to the article “What Does it Mean to Be An American Citizen” states in paragraph 1 that We begin with gratitude. As many have said, the joy of being an American is the joy of freedom and opportunity. This proves What Is an American and shows what makes you one. While other states that American is a place for good education and jobs. People believe that what makes you an American is freedom and opportunities. According to the Hakim article “What Is an American” it states “ Crevecoeur was trying to tell the Europeans that something special was happening in this land they had colonized.We have no princes ,for whom we to,starve,and bleed.We are the most perfect society now existing in the world.Here man is free as he ought to be.” People agree with what Crevecoeur stated because he is trying to tell them how America is a place that makes man feel free to have more opportunities a way to show why this place meant a lot to
