This guidance class has helped me get a better understanding of how to become a successful student in college. I really enjoyed learning new writing techniques, different styles of notetaking, test taking skills and especially my learning style because now I know different techniques to help me learn to my full ability. I plan on using a weekly schedule to become more organized in college. I want to use this type of schedule because it will help me stay on task and meet the goals that I set for myself. When you create a time schedule it helps you get a visual of what you're going to do all throughout the day. By having a visual of what your day will look like even reduces stress throughout the day.
I also plan to utilize my entire brain to get the most out of school. In order to do this I will start by studying in a group. I usually don't study with other people but I was informed that when you speak about a topic to another person you get a better understanding of the topic. Another way I plan on studying more effectively is by creating flashcards, pictures and hierarchies. All of these help you use your full learning ability and also help you strengthen your visualization techniques. …show more content…

The most important thing I learned from this class is great test taking skills. I always stress myself out about tests and how to study but I learned that I need to stop procrastinating, study in smaller amounts throughout the day, get enough sleep, eat well, and always complete test questions with my best guess. Its better to have a complete test than multiple blanks even if I'm not absolutely positive that it's correct. By making an educated guess you still have 50/50 chance at being correct rather than having no chance because you left an answer
