Makeup in Society Cosmetology is the professional skill and practice of beautifying all of the face, skin, hair, etc. Cosmetologists bring out the beauty within each person. Being a cosmetologist isn’t easy. It contains many practices, patience and most of all, talent. One thing about Cosmetology is that it’s not only to beautify, but also to make people feel good about themselves as a person. It’s important to make sure that especially as a person to feel confident about one’s features and body. In society, make up is portrayed in a way that makes women feel good about themselves, but it’s beyond a womens appearance . Makeup looks change within the seasons. Makeup is literally like fashion, it can enhance the outfit and get compliments. For some women as they state “makeup is not “needing” to feel beautiful” (Purpose of Makeup). It is not a “need” for women. It’s an accessory or a treat to women and it’s their own choice if they want to put makeup on themselves, nobody elses. In addition, makeup is another way of feeling beautiful and defines everything about their personality and face. Many state that “makeup has been a big part of humankind for thousands of years” (History of Makeup). Women did many different home techniques to change their face. They would add different colors to their faces to make their face brighter or to stand out (Making Faces). Makeup helps bring out the beautiful eyes to pop, highlight nice cheekbones, and define a person’s lips. This could also mean that they tend to look flawless and want to cover all their flaws but in a natural way of makeup. They don’t have to try so hard to fit in this society with makeup on. Makeup should make them feel comfortable about themselves and a way to boost their self-esteem and have high confidence in themselves as well. With or without makeup, women shouldn’t have to compete with others either. Also, women shouldn’t have to wear makeup if they don’t want to. The main reason to having makeup is to build confidence and that women should feel good either way, with or without makeup. Women should wear makeup as if it is a form of expression and creativity. Women and young girls should just have fun with makeup and to apply what they are comfortable with. Many women don’t just spend hours on their makeup for nothing, they do it because they like it and it’s fun to do. I have many talents and interest that will help me succeed in the cosmetology field like communication skills, business skills, a sense of creativity and technical skills. Many people enroll in hair school to learn the basic fundamental skills to become an outstanding candidate in the field. A cosmetologist’s creativity skills, business skills and communication skills need to be very effective. Other skills are required as well, but without basic skills a cosmetologist will not succeed in the industry. How can you operate a business without knowing any of the basics? How can you work on someone’s head without knowing what style would fit their face perfectly? As a cosmetologist sometimes you have to let your client know its okay to try new styles and that everything will not always work on them. As new trends are invented or start to resurface from previous years you will need to stay updated.
The career of cosmetology is a positively frantic world because of the different aspects and other related fields. As part of our culture, while growing up boys and girls are expected to learn the basic skills to fulfill the "roles of their gender." For boys this includes learning all of the the routine maintenance on a car, to work out and be stronger then the girls, and are usually expected to be better with electronics. While at the same time girls are steered towards learning how to cook, clean, and look pretty. All of the female roles require a lot of practice and trial and error before they can be mastered, but the hardest and most time consuming skill to be learned still remains applying make-up. Just as anything else (even writing an essay) the finished product always seems so simple and easy enough to be done by a child in a few minutes. Although, in reality girls spend years doing trial and error to find out what looks good on them and a few more years making it look "natural." Makeup has transformed the lives of so many individuals and continues to play an important role in the daily routines of many women (and those men who choose to wear makeup). [Pause] The main reason why makeup initially became integrated into the daily lives of many individuals was to help conceal facial features that people were insecure about. Now, as of 2018, makeup has helped many people in terms of their general self-confidence. The stereotype that makeup is used to impress others is as far off as one can get. Make up has been around for about 12 thousand years. Woman use makeup to make them look more beautiful, woman now and back that weren’t happy with their natural beauty so they chose to event or come up with something that would make them beautiful. Woman got the idea that they would use some things form nature that they found and smashed it or do something to but on their face. At first it was a poisons thing to use but now a days makeup have reached a point that it’s not dangers to put on now. Some of the makeup history that I’m going to talk about are lipstick, mascara, eye liner, Eye shadow, body painting and a little about nail polish. I’m also going to talk about who wear makeup.
