When applying to law schools, it was imperative that I find an institution that offered legal clinics and student groups in the areas I am most passionate about. Thankfully, I discovered what Georgetown University Law Center has to offer. Georgetown Law is home to the Domestic Violence Clinic, Georgetown Street Law Program, and the Harrison Institute for Housing and Community Development. The work of these three programs alone, made it instinctive for me to write this letter to express my commitment to attend Georgetown Law if admitted.
More than any other program, the Harrison Institute for Housing and Community Development made Georgetown Law my first choice. For almost fifty years, Georgetown Law students have advocated for policy reform
Pagan writes a captivating story mingled with the challenges of the Eastern Shore legal system. This book gives a complete explanation backed up by research and similar cases as evidence of the ever-changing legal system. It should be a required reading for a history or law student.
Chicago’s Cabrini-Green public housing project is notorious in the United States for being the most impoverished and crime-ridden public housing development ever established. Originally established as inexpensive housing in the 1940’s, it soon became a vast complex of unsightly concrete low and high-rise apartment structures. Originally touted as a giant step forward in the development of public housing, it quickly changed from a racially and economically diverse housing complex to a predominantly black, extremely poor ghetto. As it was left to rot, so to speak, Cabrini-Green harbored drug dealers, gangs and prostitution. It continued its downward spiral of despair until the mid 1990’s when the Federal Government assumed control the Chicago Housing Authority, the organization responsible for this abomination. Cabrini-Green has slowly been recovering from its dismal state of affairs recently, with developers building mixed-income and subsidized housing. The Chicago Housing Authority has also been demolishing the monolithic concrete high-rise slums, replacing them with public housing aimed at not repeating the mistakes of the past. Fortunately, a new era of public housing has dawned from the mistakes that were made, and the lessons that were learned from the things that went on for half a century in Cabrini-Green.
The School of Law offers engaging classroom instruction across a wide spectrum of courses that appeal to students with disparate interests (University of California Los Angeles. “The UCLA School of Law”). Attending the University of Houston Law Center would afford me the opportunity to gain an education I know only they could offer. The University of Houston is a first-tier institution that constantly produces superior talent that continuously excels in all fields of law. Earning my degree of jurisprudence would be the crowning achievement in my life, but knowing that I couldn’t be able to use it effectively would be as equally disappointing. Coming full circle, I’d use my degree to make a difference for those privileged and those who aren’t alike. The realm of law is where I feel I belong and I’m eager to prove myself.
The Progressive Era prompted an increasing need to form the American Bar Association which was established August 21, 1878, in Saratoga, New York, by a group of 100 lawyers from 21 states who promoted order throughout the nation’s law schools (Matzko, 1984). After over 100 years of existence, the American Bar Association continues to serve and assist law students and lawyers as one pursues to serve and defend the constitutional rights and liberties of others. The American Bar Association is known for providing continuing education and testing to assist future lawyers in one’s quest to defend.

My personal and educational growth in college and subsequent professional experience provided an avenue for a career choice, working in law. I have learned that the law protects on all levels from the multi-million dollar client to the single mom who can barely feed her children. It is through this that I can continue to make a difference in my and others’ lives. Emory Law offers me the opportunity to further my goals through its International Humanitarian Law Clinic, Volunteer Clinic for Veterans, and the multiple of chances to help others through my blossoming legal knowledge while in school. All of these would add pieces of my puzzle and help bring into focus the bigger picture of my puzzle. Through attending Emory Law I will continue to create change through helping and ultimately find where I fit in this greater human puzzle.
After tenants are in the program they will be expected to take another survey to determine if we reached their expectations and how we can improve our methods. Shaw University social work students will then compare and analysis, both sets of data from before and after to determine the effectiveness of the housing program. After students have properly analyzed the data they collected, we will then meet to determine areas of satisfaction and areas in which improvements are ...
...aduate career. I am eager to be a member of a learning community that challenges me academically and provides real world experiences. Harvard Law affords its students the distinct opportunity to receive a premier education while participating in a variety of hands on clinical and pro bono programs. My performance in and out of the classroom serves as evidence of my high likelihood to succeed in this type of learning environment. Harvard would greatly benefit from adding a student of my background and potential to this incoming class. I have unique life experiences that will enhance classroom conversations and mold my peers into worldly future legal professionals.
... education alone. The stark reality leaves much desired, success determined through unfavorable components, which my cousin never had, where you live, money, and education. Limits stop individuals from growth and career aspirations which contributed to my cousin becoming an at risk youth. Throughout my experiences, I learned that second chances could bring individuals thought lost back to the fold and be successful. My hope is that law school will contribute in my drive towards social activism. Law school will help me in my continued efforts for children’s success. Furthermore, my guidance, of course extends to people who face similar circumstances such as my cousin. Society stigmatized the indigent, cycles formed, and members of the family remains entrenched with their future remaining uncertain. I want to serve communities in overcoming the limits set by society.
The issue in this case is whether Big Board has breached contract and the damages available to Specialty and the reasoning behind them.
Today I focused on developing myself professionally by attending a workshop on 10 ways to be an effective advocate in Norfolk, Virginia. The workshop provided advocacy tips, the organization of state government, and highlighted legislative committees, the bill process, and how a bill becomes a law. We also discussed Virginia’s state budget and we were given several resources that will aid us in advancing our research and expanding our knowledge base on advocacy. I am especially interested in this process because I want to practice on a macro level, so I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. Although the advocacy workshop was geared toward preventing child abuse in Virginia, I feel this information can be applied to any population we serve. As a
My wish to apply to the 2-Year JD Program for International Attorneys at University of Richmond School of Law is rooted in my desire to exceed in the global legal profession. I have come to recognize that a further legal education would enable me to advance in my career as an international lawyer, CEO of an energy corporation, as well as a financial analyst specialized in foreign direct investments, the formation of investment vehicles, and Public/Private Partnerships with the objective of bringing sustainable growth to developing nations. I am a believer and have the commitment to fighting for poverty reduction through legislation, policy, and investments. While I have participated in many international projects, from helping to improve the
Contract is the basis of all commercial transactions. A contract is a deal or a bargain from which both parties expect to benefit. The word ‘contract’ can be defined as an agreement involving two or more people that is legally binding upon the parties. The contract law in Malaysia is mainly enforced and governed by the Contracts Act 1950. Consideration is the main elements to make a legal contract. Besides, a void agreement has no legal effect. I agree that when an agreement, which was legal and enforceable when it was entered in to, may subsequently become void due to agreement without consideration or other reason. Consideration defined by Section 2(d) Contract Act 1950 “When, at the desire of the promisor, the promisee or any other person
Naturally, the first aspect of the university that caught my eye was the impressive pre-law program. The University of Pennsylvania offers specialized mentoring to pre-law undergraduates, arranging for them to meet with current law school students who can share experiences and give advice on how to succeed on the roa...
