4. Best Practices Approach for Configuration Management Database
4.1 Configuration Management Process Activities
According to ITIL best practices, Configuration Management process activity needs to be established to obtain the configuration information and data from different sources or third parties. Figure 4.1 illustrates the activity model for configuration management process. Therefore, the following activities ensure that the data or information stored in CMDB is qualitative and reliable. (Office of Government Commerce, 2007). To analyze the configuration information consistency with the physical states of CIs or vice versa, there must be a definite plan for the periodic verification and auditing of CMDB. However, with the proper configuration audits organization can make use of their resources more effectively. Accuracy and integrity of data information in the CMDB are assured when are being verified after regular …show more content…
All the project team members, mostly the important members should pursue ITIL Foundation level certification, to get familiar with all the aspects of CMDB and the service life-cycle. The Configuration Management System owner should have the deep knowledge about the processes, by achieving advance level of certification in ITIL or ISO/IEC 20000.
However, the practical knowledge is essential in this project, so it is not necessary for every team member to have the ITIL certification. Eventually the goal is to avoid misunderstanding /misconception to the CMDB & ITIL terminology and to set up a better consistency and communication with the common knowledge.
Building Service Portfolio and Service Knowledge Management System
To make sure that all the materials related to project like project plans, past experience, etc. are kept in a standardized order is the task of Service Portfolio Management (SPM) process. It controls and tracks the complete life cycle of the project, from strategic analysis to policy setting, accumulation of the requirements and receiving approvals. Successively using the best practice approach of ITI V3 SPM and SKMS considerably increases the chances of project success by keeping the project on
Correct assessment and probably the most important lesson. Caregroup can review ITIL methodology for best practices around incident end event management. 6. Adapt to externalities. Correct evaluation, however additional analysis is required.
Act - In this phase ISMS improvements are implemented. Continuous monitoring of the process will ensure process improvement.
According to the Case Management Society of America, case management is "a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitation, care coordination, evaluation, and advocacy for options and services to meet an individual's and family's comprehensive health needs through communication and available resources to promote quality, cost effective outcomes" (Case Management Society of America [CMSA], 2010). As a method, case management has moved to the forefront of social work practice. The social work profession, along with other fields of study, recognizes the difficulty of locating and accessing comprehensive services to meet needs. Therefore, case managers work with these
Controlled Requirement Expression (CORE) was developed for the British Aerospace programs while the UK Ministry of Defence was carrying out a requirement analysis (Hull et al., 2010). The fundamental component of the CORE methodology is viewpoints as different users see systems in different ways. There are many different stakeholders involved in a system; using CORE methodology involves finding all the different viewpoints of those stakeholders that have an interest in the system whether it’s a person, role or organisation ext.… (Sommerville and Sawyer, 2000). By organising viewpoints hierarchy it assists experts to read the scope and supports the analysis process. CORE Methodology is extensively used for real time system requirements specification.
Change is an inevitable function of any organization and is something that employees and leaders alike are bound to face during their careers. According to Ivancevich et al (2011), how leaders are able to handle the task of change can determine the success or failure of an organization. As organizational leadership students, it is important for us to begin to develop and sharpen the necessary skills to innovate and adapt to change effectively. Leaders should be familiar with a variety of elements within the organization including an assessment of employee and leadership strengths, relationships, skill level and capability, level of support, and the types of resources readily available. Assessing these elements prior and during change, as well as evaluating the process after the fact, helps prepare organizations and leaders for future success. The Harvard School of Business’ interactive change management simulation, Change Management Simulation: Power and Influence V2 (2013), was a valuable assignment to help teach us about change from the standpoint of a mid-level management position at Spectrum, a sunglasses company, looking to adopt a new sustainability initiative.
The main idea is to choose a manageable area within the department of choice and refine the practices and procedures before going company or enterprise wide. The organization will also use this time to determine how best to configure the various EDMS products to meet unique requirements. Of most importance is to configure, not change the way in which people work. The EDMS product set should be both highly configurable and extendable and in most cases will contain a superset of the functionality the organization will require.
The projects in today’s world are given a lot of importance and it will continue to grow in the coming years. There are a lot of companies which do not have production, but all of them do have projects. There are a lot of books which have been published on which related to planning and managing the projects. The one of the most important one was published by the author Eli Goldratt in his book ‘Critical chain’. This book basically talks and shows how the application of theory of constraints in the field of project management. The novel is basically based on one of the MBA classes in America where a number of ideas are developed in discussions among the students and the lecturers. The lecturer is basically fighting for a tenure with the president of the university who expects a downturn in the executive MBA. The lecturer who teaches project management has a word with one the senior colleagues and project management was the right topic to teach. There were three students who were placed in the project management team of their company which manufactures electronic products. The students are enrolled in this MBA class along with other students, here they discover a new approach to project management which is known as the

According to the textbook Eli Goldcratt implemented the Theory of Constraints (TOC). TOC is defined as the business approach to improve production, distribution and project management. (Jacobs, 2013) Goldcratt’s instituted a 5 step process to improve and assess current operations and productions. Goldcratt’s stated the following are rules for the management of constraints which include: “to identify the system constraints and weakness; decide how to exploit the constraints; subordinate everything else to that decision; elevate the system constraints if previous steps are broken start the process over again.” (Jacobs, 2013) By defining the issues proper measurements can be
This paper has the intention to explain what Rational Unified Process (RUP) is like an IBM product and a CASE tool. After is explained what phases it has, what are the most common extensions thus what are its workflows more used. The Rational Unified Process (RUP) is a software design method created by the Rational Software Corporation and now is part of IBM developer software. This paper describes how to deploy software effectively. The Rational Unified Process (RUP) use commercially proven techniques, and is a heavy weight process, and hence particularly applicable to larger software development teams working on large projects.
In order to implement the RCA described above, there is one additional resource needed. The most important artifact is creating a document that will outline the technical support standard that company XYZ wants to upkeep. This document must be detailed and should include answers to common problems. This document will allow the supervisor and the technical support team to respond to emails confidently.
The late 90’s ushered in a new economy, IPO-funded .com companies. Apparently, investors believed that this new economy was the next big thing. Consequently, this belief, fostered in over-priced stock value. For instance, companies that had never produced any revenue, witnessed their stock trading at enormous value. Therefore, overnight a lot of executives and employees became millionaires (Ljungqvist, & Wilhelm, 2003). Unfortunately, at the time, there was a myth about how successful these companies would be. Moreover, investors were not interested with the bottom lines of these companies. For this reason, a lot of companies took on massive amounts of debts to grow with the new economy. Nevertheless, at the same time, Microsoft was declared
As part of developing the need in the initial investigation step in the systems development life cycles (SDLC) process, a constructive method is use case. Use case is a technique for capturing requirements with written scenarios in non-technical terminology that describe how a system interacts with a user or another system (University of Phoenix, Course Syllabus, 2006). There are two fundamental pieces, along with how they relate, to bear in mind: the actors and the goals. The actors are everyone and everything that will use (or be used) by the project progress reports, and the goals, which are what the actors want to achieve. The use case will describe the goals achieved by the actors who perform tasks (Carr & Meehan, 2005).
The change process within any organization can prove to be difficult and very stressful, not only for the employees but also for the management team. Hayes (2014), highlights seven core activities that must take place in order for change to be effective: recognizing the need for change, diagnosing the change and formulating a future state, planning the desired change, implementing the strategies, sustaining the implemented change, managing all those involved and learning from the change. Individually, these steps are comprised of key actions and decisions that must be properly addressed in order to move on to the next step. This paper is going to examine how change managers manage the implementation of change and strategies used
