Over the four years that I have been in choir, I have contributed to the choir in more ways than just my voice. I have participated in numerous fundraisers for the Music Department, in which I had sold things from chocolate bars, to cheese and summer sausage, to Sonic gift cards. The Music Department recently had a fundraiser to raise money for their trip to New York to perform at Carnegie Hall next year. I took the time out my day, on a beautiful Saturday morning, to test drive a Ford F1-50 to help raise money for the Touch of Class students next year. I have also contributed my silent leadership to choir. I learned early in life that you don’t need to necessarily make an noise to get someone’s attention. I think I am deserving of the Pop’s Concert Scholarship because I always do what I am told; I have integrity and work on my music outside of class because I am a part of the top choir here at Fort Osage. Without music, I am nothing, so I put my heart and soul in everything we do. Sometimes Mrs. Ammons or Mrs. Payne don’t have the time to go through each note, on every part, on every song that we sing, but I don’t make that an excuse to not try and learn it on my own. Being in the top choir these things are a given. I know Mrs. Ammons and Mrs. Payne only want the best for their students, and that is why Mrs. Ammons constantly gives that little push for me to step outside of my box and try new things. She regularly emails me opportunities and competitions I should enter in which I could use my songwriting and composition talents. One of which, I have entered and I am proud to say that I have stepped up to each challenge she and Mrs. Payne have thrown my direction. Back in December of 2015, I entered a composition competition, and won Most Honorable Mention.
