The presence of complexities heightens the significance of effective management. However, the complexities lead to challenges in the management and development of the project. Hence, there is a need to ensure that the team and stakeholders choose management tools to match the existing project on whether the capacities of the project are distributed, varied goals and if there is significant uncertainty in the project. In managing the complexities of the project, members need the guidance of three main principles including decentralized, collaborative, as well as adaptive management. However, the Complexity Assessment Tool (CAT) is one of the proposed tools to identify the complexities so that the project managers and team members can manage …show more content…
The main areas to focus is the level of uncertainty involved in the project, the extent to which both the team members and stakeholders agree on the goals or ways of achieving the goals of the projects and the extent to which they share knowledge and capacities. After understanding the areas to focus, the Copham Trust Care project needs to lay its focus to the new approaches to managing and developing the project. In choosing the approaches, there is a need to understand and be aware of the subjective nature of the complexity. After knowing and agreeing on the complexities in the Copham Project, the managers and stakeholders need to identify the steps to reduce the complexities. For the Copham project to build the systems that are driven by the customer and adapt to the changes in the environment, there are emerging innovative design approaches including limiting solutions component dependencies, making use of the enabling solution design tools and the designs for people and building for …show more content…
For instance, in circumstances where there is high uncertainty in the project management such as rapidly changing requirements, the new technology and the business model and interoperability across a complex network of the suppliers as well as the needed customers, it is vital to use the architectural tools. The work of the architectural tools is to capture, organize, and link the complex information about the organization and the supporting technology (Hass, 2009). Besides, they aid in guiding decision-making and monitoring design decision implementation and success. Additionally, the architectural tools institutionalize the standards that facilitate communication, having a common language and reference besides common work products and data. If the Copham project wants to design a complex system, they need to create the architectural views to capture the information about the operations, business systems, as well as technologies with the documented relationships between the views. The approach allows for a clear knowledge of the dependencies within the solution that Cophan has to

Now, let's make it really complex (complicated): A systematic review of the complexities of projects.
Large and small businesses, governments, and schools strive to build the next new gadget, manage resources more efficiently, and teach or train in more creative ways. If they set out blindly on a task without proper oversight and thought about the process, then surely the result would be a dismal failure. Project management enables these entities, and various others, to carefully consider the many variables before, during, and after the project actually takes place. Project management refers to the careful planning, organization, and management through a single one-time activity. Projects are non-routine tasks that are set out to be accomplished for a specific amount of time (Trelles-Duckett & Lonergan , n.d.). Projects have an absolute
Looking at the world where we live everything in someway is connected. Our world is not simple and in fact consists of multiple complex systems. Some everyday examples of complex systems are the brain, immune system, insect colonies, and even social networks such as Facebook and twitter. So what exactly do all these have in common in order to be a complex system? First is the fact that each one has a large amount of simple components that work together by communication through signals without being under leadership. But not all systems are exactly the same so we can break it down further into chaotic systems, complex adaptive systems, and nonlinear systems. Chaotic systems differ in that they are non-linear and are sensitive to initial conditions. Therefore any uncertainty in the system will not produce an outcome that can be predicted later on. A good example of a chaotic system would be the stock market because the prediction of its outcome is unknown due to its sensitivity to initial conditions. Complex adaptive systems are just like they sound. They are capable of adapting to the environment such as the immune system. It’s white blood cells work together to recognize foreign bodies and create antibodies for future encounters.
This requires understanding and proper communication between stakeholders and people involved. In few weeks, project charter, scheduling and implications is put forward for head start and meeting milestones. Case 2: IT Conversion- Global leader in manufacturing and marketing of food and beverage products and supplements wants to integrate with a new Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) system through software and hardware platforms. The client faces deadline issues while completing the tasks and is losing hold on the company’s business goals.
The advantage of this approach is that certain problems do not
Large or complex projects in big company often require some sort of leadership. In this case, by introducing traditional project management tools are obviously important for project leaders like Kent Black since the methods and tools that project leaders use can be helpful for

In such a complex environment, first-rate problem solving skills and the ability to influence are non-negotiable properties in ensuring project success. Identify opportunities for improvement in the management of the project’s
Williams, (1997) identified four steps to system planning. Earl (1989) proposed five alternate strategy frameworks which project managers should consider when deciding how the system will enhance the business function. Standard business strategy methods are used to identify such opportunities by using: value chains, application searching and information analysis (Earl 1989).
Project management is the activity and process of motivating, planning, controlling and organizing resources in order to achieve a set of goals. A project is a provisional endeavor intended to produce an exceptional product, result or service (Anderson and Merna 387). A project is undertaken in order to meet a set of objectives and bring beneficial transformation or value addition. The main difficulty of project management is the ability to achieve all the goals for any project that has been assigned. The challenge is intensified when one is trying to achieve the goals while adhering to the constraints that had been preconceived (Anderson and Merna 389). The challenges range from time, scope, budget and quality to the secondary constraint of optimizing the allocation of required inputs, and their integration to the objectives that have been pre-defined.
Concurrent engineering is a method for breaking down the product advancement of a vast provision into more diminutive cycles. The reason for working iteratively is to permit more adaptability for progressions. The key preference is that this methodology permits engineers to break down the errand of forming a framework into an arrangement of more modest undertakings. However, this approach gives an unorganized project management structure and sometimes need re-working in documentation. Therefore, this approach is useful when the scope of project is small.
When planning a new project, how the project will be managed is one of the most important factors. The importance of a managers will determine the success of the project. The success of the project will be determined by how well it is managed. Project management is referred to as the discipline that entails the processes of carefully planning, organizing, controlling, and motivating the organization resources so as to foster and facilitate the achievement of specific established and desired goals and meet the specific criteria of success required in the organization (Larson, 2014). Over the course of this paper I will be discussing and analyzing the importance of project management.
