I, d. 17, p. 1, q. 1-2, n. 62). Cette définition du docteur scolastique, si moderne en dépit du contexte historique (XIII-XIV èmes siècles) où elle fut formulée, n’exclut évidemment pas la possibilité d’une forme de beauté non-relationelle, comme, par exemple, celle de ce qui est uni et plein, un beau ciel, une belle étoffe, mais ce point n’est pas à considérer ici, car la beauté d’un ciel uni ou celle d’une étoffe est avant tout celle d’une matière homogène.

Those who believe the use of anabolic steroids should be allowed in professional sports have numerous arguments for those in opposition. Professional sports leagues have tried to stop the use of steroids by drug testing players and punishing those who do not pass. A number of major athletes, such as Lance Armstrong, have been stripped of their athletic accolades due to discoveries of drug use. Despite witnessing the fall of great competitors due to “doping,” people continue to use. Because of unsuccessful attempts at banning the drug, many people believe “it may be time to head in the other direction: legalize performance enhancers” (Smith 1). No matter how many rules and regulations are made against the use of steroids, athletes will continue to abuse the drug in order to get ...
Education is a topic that can be explored in many ways. Education is looked at in depth by both Richard Rodriguez in his essay, “The Achievement of Desire”, and by Paulo Freire in his essay, “The ‘Banking’ Concept of Education.” After reading both essays, one can make some assumptions about different methods of education and exactly by which method Rodriguez was taught. The types of relationships Rodriguez had with his teachers, family and in life were affected by specific styles of education.
The Jewish people and culture have always been an integral part of western society. Many of society’s core values and outlooks derive from those of the Jews (Cahill 3). Every economy involved the Jews. Some of their most common professions were bankers and doctors; even when one neglects to consider the necessity of these professions, one must consider that just by existing they boosted the economy through commerce (Taft 1). The New York Times recorded that in London in 1902 it was “surprising how quickly they improve[d] their condition and beg[a]n to save money” and were building up a tailoring business to rival Germany (“Jewish Immigration Into London”). According to then-former President Taft, Jews in 1919 were given legal equality in every country except Romania and Russia, a...
ABSTRACT: The idea of a firm connection of the seven artes liberales came first into being in Augustine's early concept of education (I. Hadot). Whereas this idea has been analyzed primarily in view of its philosophical sources, this paper is supposed to clarify its internal logic. The main feature of Augustine's concept is the distinction between the two projects of a critique of reason and of a metaphysics, and the coordination of these projects within a treatise on theodicy. Augustine systematizes the disciplinae in the perspective of reason's self-recognition. Reason manifests itself in culture and nature. Through the sciences, reason is led to a reflection upon its own products and, finally, to an understanding of them as reason's self-manifestations. Thus, reason becomes able to comprehend itself. Augustine distinguishes language-based disciplinae (grammar, dialectic, rhetoric) from number-oriented ones (music, geometry, astronomy, philosophy). The first group (with dialectic as its top-disciplina) leads to a critical reflection upon the conditions of knowledge and into the insight to reason's power of creating sciences. The second group helps carry out a metaphysical ascent from the material to the intelligible world. In philosophy, reason comprehends its ability to constitute knowledge as a synthetic capacity that points to a transnumerical unity as the main ontological feature of the intelligible world. The insight into this kind of unity reveals the meaningful interwovenness of all beings and events and, thus, leads to a refutation of all objections against divine providence.
Education is defined as, “The act or process of educating or being educated, the knowledge or skill obtained or developed by a learning process, a program of instruction of a specified kind or level, the field of study that is concerned with the pedagogy of teaching and learning, as well as an instructive or enlightening experience” (No author). People begin their education from day one till the day they die. Every day we learn new things in different ways. Whether someone is just telling us some random fact or you are sitting in a classroom being lectured by a professor. The main focus of this classical argument involves the learning that is done in the classroom or lecture hall in the schools of America today. The question arose as to which style of teaching is most effective in sparking the minds of the receivers to make them become transformers of their education? Would the “banking concept” of teaching be more effective, where “the scope of the action allowed to the students extends only as far as receiving, filing, and storing the deposits” (pg. 260). Or would the “problem posing” style of teaching be the most effective, where by “responding to the essence of consciousness—intentionally—rejects communiqués and embodies communications. It epitomizes the special characteristic of consciousness” (pg. 265). In this essay I intend persuade you the audience to take in my experiences and the experience of two other authors, whom I will be showing you later, and take a look from my point of view.

Jews have been in New York before America even became a country. New York has always been a symbol of hope and opportunity for Jews for over 350 years. Jews’ cultural, social, economic, and political roles in New York have dramatically affected their lives both positively and negatively. Ever since 1654, Jews have been affected by New York through its cultural, political, economic, and social environments which has ultimately made American Jewry what it is today.
In response, they proposed that perception is based on the organization of stimuli into holistic and meaningful forms. They are well-known for the phrase "the whole is different than the sum of its parts. " They proposed several "laws" (really heuristics or "rules of thumb") that are referred to as the Gestalt laws of perceptual organization. These are discussed in the module later on.
The author considers that the main charge of the composition of the program and the creation of the proper methods of the teaching should be in the administration of each school and not by the central government. But to be honest, it is important to remember, that the government plays the role of the buffer to the changes in the educational system, the control of the authorities is evident. Schools might have the proper right to make the decisions about the methods of the teaching in one particular school, but in general, the government has to be able to intervene in the educational process, to control it, supply and help in the case of the need. The examples of the development of the educational process were described in the work of Wright (2008) and Eggleston (1975). In this very case the position of Young is more suitable, he offered to provide an individual program to each school, that would be coordinated with the particular services of the government and the local authorities. The aim of it is furnishing of the system that would give a strong knowledge and “create the conditions for learners to acquire powerful knowledge and both structures... the boundaries between schools and professional and academic «knowledge producing communities» and between schools and the everyday knowledge of local communities.”(Young
Toyota Motor Corporation is a very successful automobile manufacturer that is recognized globally. First, the inherent element of cyberbullying is that it’s everywhere. It’s so widespread, it is present to the victim in a completely different way than physical or verbal abuse. The heavy reliance everyone now has on technology social media creates the platform for cyberbullying, and this is what makes victims extremely susceptible. Victim and bully alike have readily available access to the interwebs. These kids can’t just find a place to hide from it like they would from bullies at school, or the “real-life” bullies (Todd). When bullying is through the internet and other electronic communications, it is omnipresent to the victim because of the internet’s nature. Some people may think it isn’t any big deal, and it’s not like anyone’s being punched. However, hate spoken aloud or punches thrown only occur and damage in that moment, but on the internet, it’s out there there for the long term. Emotional distress follows suit in that long term. Now suicide rates in teens and children are sky high, and a major factor in that is depression from cyberbullying (Todd). When victims can’t identify the attacker, they are bound to feel much more helpless in those situations, because they may often feel...
One of the main reasons why cyberbullying is still happening is that people still do not see the harm in cyberbullying (Patchin Justin et al., 2016). To stop the problem, people need to realize the outcome of cyberbullying. Like it says in “Obstacles in the fight to stop cyberbullying.” people need to be willing to take the responsibility about kids and teens abusing the use of social media. Sometimes, the way cyberbullying is addressed has a big part in the extent that children take it. The article states that “as a result, cyberbullying incidents either slip through the cracks, are dealt with too formally, are dealt with too informally, or are otherwise mismanaged. At that point, the problem behaviors often continue and escalate because they aren 't adequately or appropriately addressed” (Patchin Justin et al., 2016). Children act off of the people that they are around. For instance, if a child sees one 's parents on Facebook posting about one 's “feelings,” then they are going to act in the same way. Children feed off of the surroundings and atmosphere of which they are in. Therefore, children will repeat what they see because it seems like the normal thing to do. In addition to this people still have the mindset that cyberbullying is no big deal. The article also states that “some adults have been slow to respond to cyberbullying, many cyber bullies feel that there are little to no consequences for their actions. Many even feel that there is little chance of detection and identification, let alone sanction” (Patchin Justin et al., 2016). If the parents see signs that their children are being a cyberbully, parents can limit the amount of tragedies that come out of cyberbullying by simply enforcing the guidelines of right and
