With many people eagerly wanting to prevent traditional bullying, many fail to recognize cyberbullying as a serious issue in today 's society.

One of the main reasons why cyberbullying is still happening is that people still do not see the harm in cyberbullying (Patchin Justin et al., 2016). To stop the problem, people need to realize the outcome of cyberbullying. Like it says in “Obstacles in the fight to stop cyberbullying.” people need to be willing to take the responsibility about kids and teens abusing the use of social media. Sometimes, the way cyberbullying is addressed has a big part in the extent that children take it. The article states that “as a result, cyberbullying incidents either slip through the cracks, are dealt with too formally, are dealt with too informally, or are otherwise mismanaged. At that point, the problem behaviors often continue and escalate because they aren 't adequately or appropriately addressed” (Patchin Justin et al., 2016). Children act off of the people that they are around. For instance, if a child sees one 's parents on Facebook posting about one 's “feelings,” then they are going to act in the same way. Children feed off of the surroundings and atmosphere of which they are in. Therefore, children will repeat what they see because it seems like the normal thing to do. In addition to this people still have the mindset that cyberbullying is no big deal. The article also states that “some adults have been slow to respond to cyberbullying, many cyber bullies feel that there are little to no consequences for their actions. Many even feel that there is little chance of detection and identification, let alone sanction” (Patchin Justin et al., 2016). If the parents see signs that their children are being a cyberbully, parents can limit the amount of tragedies that come out of cyberbullying by simply enforcing the guidelines of right and
The definition of bullying uses broad statements to define the actual meaning. Because of this, people may view the definition differently than others. Bullying can range from physical violence to verbal abuse to even cyberbullying. Most people do not realize how common cyberbullying actually is. Over half of teens and adolescents have been bullied online and almost the same number have engaged in the bullying (“Cyber Bullying Statistics”). Cyberbullying is becoming more and more prominent throughout this time period because of the technology continuing to expand around the world. Each year this statistic increasingly grows due to the technology
Cyberbullying has become a widespread problem. The more people have been using the internet, the more the number of cyberbullying incidents increase. According to document A, 25.1% of girls and 16.6% of boys reported being bullied in their lifetime. In addition to this, document A also

Internet usage in children and adolescents has been increasing in a steadily fashion in the past number of years and with the increase in internet usage, a new form of bullying has developed – Cyber bullying. Cyber bullying can be defined as “the electronic posting of mean-spirited messages about a person,” (Merriam-Webster, 2012). This form of bullying can come through various mediums including but not limited to text messages, emails, videos, and social networking sites. There is an overwhelming amount of information that defines cyber bullying, identifies the demographics of bullies and victims of cyber bullying, and identifies the outcomes of cyber bullying on victims. More focus needs to be placed on who the perpetrators of this form of violence are and how this form of violence is linked to traditional bullying. This will allow researchers and practitioners to move forward with research and implementation preventative methods and intervention once the problem has already occurred.
Many teens shrug off cyberbullying as merely annoying, or even funny, although it could have serious consequences. Targets of cyberbullying, can experience emotional distress , including anger, frustration, embarrassment , sadness, fear, and depression. Cyberbullying has also been linked to what we have read to delinquency and violence, substance abuse , possession of weapons on school grounds and most commonly suicide.
From the fact sheet by the Ophelia Project, “60% of targets said that their online experiences as a target of cyberbullying affected them at school, home, and with friends and reported experiencing feelings of frustration, anger, and sadness.” The frustration, anger, and sadness one feels after becoming a victim to cyberbullying is something that some victims like to keep to themselves. They often do not want to express how much something has hurt them, but eventually their feelings will come out and could potentially affect their future friend/relationships. Also from the Ophelia Project, “The lack of immediate emotional feedback in cyberbullying allows an aggressor to often continue the hurtful behaviors unchecked.” In face to face bullying, the bully usually sees the hurt they had just caused the victim.
All around the United States, the prevalence of cyberbullying ranges from 10-40% of people who get bullied through electronics. Furthermore, this is a problem caused by kids, teens, and adults who target one another online by repeating harmful threats and harassments. This conflict negatively impacts the victims’ life which is why anyone who cyberbullies should pay the consequences and be prosecuted.
The physical abuse that used to happen in the halls and on the playgrounds is no more. Time has changed bullying into a twenty-four hour, seven day a week, occurrence. The pain these children are suffering, from being bullied over the web, is not something you can put an ice pack over. The psychological hurting is what gets to them. The agony these children endure is just as real, and may be even more excruciating to bear. With cyber bullying becoming a sweeping problem for children, there needs to be a solution. Adults, educators, legislators, and even children need to prevent this type o...
Every day, 20% of today's youth are emotionally destroyed by the effects of cyber bullying (Source 3: Fact Sheet, 29). After completing a survey in 2006, it is clear that a large percentage of teens is cyber bullied frequently. Many people believe that the bullies themselves should be prosecuted for what they say online. Cyber bullies should be prosecuted because online bullying effects a large percentage of young adults in America, the cyber bullies can lead to personal injury of the victim, and prosecution prevents cyber bullying by holding cyber bullies responsible for their actions. In essence, there are many reasons why cyber bullies should be criminally punished.
Cyberbullying is one of the main causes of suicide and teens dropping out of school. Cyberbullying is a life threatening or even a harmful thing
Cyberbullying should be a criminal offense because whether it’s bullying or cyberbullying, it still damages a person emotionally and physically. Admittedly, many will argue that it is crossing the line to force perpetrators behind bars when it is not even bullying, but some foul words thrown in social sites. However, there is no difference between cyberbullying and offline bullying when it is still an issue that constantly eats away at its victims, abusing them with hurtful words and messages. “The United States Department of Health and Human Services calculated the percentages of bullied victims, where 37% of teens have been physically bullied, while 52% of teens have been cyberbullied” (Cyber/Bullying Statistics). Studies shown indicate that there have been more cases of cyberbullying than offline bullying, whereas people believe that “cyberbullying is not real bullying” and “it is to speak out in what...
One of the most rampant experience every person has gone through is being bullied or bullies other person. According to Jose A. Casas, et al., “bullying can be described as an essentially psychosocial problem involving the intentional, repetitive harming of another person and the creation of a power imbalance between the victim and the aggressor, with negative consequences for both parties (J. A. Casas, et al., 2013). As time evolved, bullying comes in many phases and one of which is through the use of the upgraded technology and that is what is known as cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is a type of cyber aggressionwhich means that cyber aggression exists when a sender initiates cyber communication or cyber action intended to harm
...onship of the family members and the victim will diminish because she will become distant, short tempered, and bashful. Another way unwise teens way react to online bullying is seeking revenge on the original bully (“Cyberbullying”). These kids feel hurt and embarrassed after being cyberbullied and want to get even with the bully. This will create unnecessary consequences for the once innocent victim. Cyberbullying can cause many different complications, and affect and hurt the victims, along with the people close to them, in a variety of ways.
With technology progressing, students are moving past face to face hectoring, and are verbally bullying other through social media. Cyberbullying can sometimes become more harmful than verbal, physical, and emotional bullying due to victims, not feeling like they have an escape route because they are threatened repeatedly through text messages, e-mails, social media, etc. The worst part about cyberbullying is that the things posted can be anonymous; therefore, there is no blame for who posts what. A victim can suspect that someone is to blame for the actions done, but there is no proof to solve a possible ongoing issue. Cyberbullying and bullying are actually considered a crime when someone: physically assaults another person, gender or racism is talked about, violent or deadly threats are made, sexually texting, inappropriate photos, stalking,
