Quality is the primary idea for majority of managers and leaders across the world, and the use of tools implemented by great guru like Deming, Juran and Crosby and widely used as well as those instituted by organization of standardization such ISO or PMI have made the face of quality the number one element of comparison among competitors.

He argued that it is the management’s job to set the requirements for quality and communicate to workers (Lower chain).
Deming stated that quality is when a company through a product or service meets and exceeds the customer expectation and continue to improve as this is an endless process.
Juran argued that quality is when specifications are met according to design. He called it “Fitness of Use”. He development focuses on the idea that organizational quality problem are largely the result of insufficient and ineffective planning for quality.
Deming viewed the role of workers as widely unaffected the quality chain. He support that organization exists in large part to develop and provide for workers. He believed poor quality was not the fault of workers; instead it was to be attributed to poor management of the system for quality improvement.
For Crosby workers can be motivated to improve the quality and not reduce defects and this approach emphasizes for a “zero defect” which implies that doing things right the first time is always cheaper than trying to fix defects after the creation. Quality is an important part of any business rather from a customer’s perspective or a producer’s perspective. Quality from a customer’s perspective is they “want value and quality has become a major factor in the value of products and service” (Russell & Taylor, 2013, pg. 53). “The customer is the most important part of the production line” (Russell & Taylor, 2013, pg. 53). This can be referred to as quality of design meaning “involves designing quality characteristics into a product or service” (Russell & Taylor, 2013, pg. 54). Total quality management (TQM) involves the application of quality management principles to all aspects of the business. TQM requires that the principles of quality management be applied in every branch and at every level in an organization. Typical of an organization going through a total quality process would be a clear vision, few inter-departmental barriers, employee training, excellent customer relations, and the realization that quality is not just product quality but also the quality of the whole organization to include those functions that do not directly interact with the customer or the production of goods and services. In this paper, the TQM approaches of BAE Systems Information Technology (BAE-IT), and Philips Semiconductor will be compared and contrasted for style and process. First, the paper will look at the organizational vision and mission of BAE-IT.
William Edwards Deming was known to most as one of the "Great Quality Pioneers." He was born in Sioux City, Iowa in the 1900's. During his lifetime Deming made quite a difference in improving production in Japan as well as the United States. He was most known for his 14 points to help improve production. With his 14 points, system of profound knowledge, and seven deadly diseases many businesses improved significantly. Deming, a statistician, popularized and put into practice the concept of quality control originated by Walter Shewhart of Bell laboratories in the 1920's. (Current Biography Yearbook, p. 155). This concept was a forerunner for Total Quality Management or TQM.
The Japanese car manufacturers namely Toyota wanted to start operations in America. That was all very well. But how could they make the Americans buy their cars rather than local ones. Enter Dr. Edward Demings and hey presto! They had the secret recipe! The man who according to his biographer Rafeel Agumayo(1) is the American who taught Japan what quality management is. Dr. Edwards Deming was a physicist specialized in the field of statistics and worked in United States Bureau of Census. His greatest contribution on the evaluation of statistical methods for ensuring the quality of census assessment established him as a leader in the field of Total Quality Management. In fact he is considered as the "Guru" of Total Quality Management. Deming also enunciated 14 principles for quality management which include innovation, the philosophy of quality to be inculcated in all individuals, appropriate and complete supervision, absence of fear and openness, ensuring quality from design through to maintenance, work standards in production, training of every worker in statistical methods, retraining people to new skills and so on.
Quality is connected with consistency. A client who is content with the first purchasing knowledge needs and needs to be similarly euphoric on each one further event. Portakabin has the aphorism 'Quality - this time - next time - without a doubt'.
Crosby believes that the measurement of quality is the price of non-conformance and not indexes. The price of non-conformance is by counting everything that is spent if everything was not done correctly the first time.
It is well known that quality has many dimensions and definitions. It can be based on a transcendent approach (innate excellence, for example a Rolls Royce), a manufacturing based approach (free of errors), a user based approach (fit for purpose), a product based approach (conforms to measurable characteristics) or a value based approach (suitable cost and price).
The Quality by Design concept is created based on process stages which are included as follows:

Dr. Edward Deming was an American engineer, professor, statistician, lecturer, author, and management consultant born in 1900. Deming lectured that by implementation of certain principles of the management, organizations can improve the quality of the product and simultaneously reduce costs. These cost reductions include the reduction of waste production, reducing staff attrition and litigation while concurrently increasing customer loyalty. The crucial point, in Deming’s opinion, was to practice continuous improvement, and to visualize the manufacturing process as a united process, rather than as a system made up of unrelated parts.
The ISO, by contrast, defines ―”quality” in [ISO, 1999] as “the totality of characteristics of an entity that bear on its ability to satisfy stated and implied needs”. And
Quality experts have made a significant impact on the world through their contributions to improving not only businesses, but all organizations including state and national governments, military organizations, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and many other organizations. They are; Dr. W. Edwards Deming, Dr. Joseph Duran, Phillip Crosby, Arman V. Feiganbaum, Dr. H. James Harrington, Dr. Kaoru Ishikawa, Dr. Walter A. Shewart, Shigeo Shingo, Frederick Taylor, and Dr. Genichi Taguchi. Among these experts, Dr. Deming, Phillip Crosby and Dr. Duran have been carrying forth the message of quality for more than thirty years.
Quality is a concept of several meanings, subjective and individual to the interpreter. When mentioning that something is of a certain quality, it is assumed and associated to be good in some way....
Crosby re-defined quality to mean conformity to standards set by the industry or organization that must align with customer needs.
