Angelina Grimke and Sojourner Truth were both prominent American civil rights activists of the 19th century who focused on the abolition of slavery and women’s rights issues, respectively. While both of these women challenged the societal beliefs of the United States at the time regarding these civil rights issues, the rhetorical strategies used by each of these women to not only illustrate their respective arguments but also to raise social awareness of these issues was approached in very different fashions. Angelina Grimke promoted the use of white middle-class women’s positions in the household to try to influence the decision makers, or men, around them. On the other hand, Sojourner Truth, a former slave turned women’s rights activist,
Eleanor Roosevelt and Mary McLeod Bethune and both very similar but yet very different. Some ways that they are different is the Eleanor Roosevelt was a first lady and Mary McLeod Bethune was not and she didn’t really have any connection to the president like Eleanor did. Mary was the highest ranked black administer and she worked a lot with groups of black people to make their lives better. They both come from very different backgrounds Mary comes from a rough background where they didn’t have very much money, her parents were slaves and, she had many siblings. Eleanor Roosevelt comes from the opposite background where her grandparents had lots of money and for a while she was really dependent on other people for many things. Mary was always
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear”. Nelson Mandela said. “Our language is the reflection of ourselves. A language is an exact reflection of the character and growth of its speakers,” said Cesar Chavez. Nelson Mandela and Cesar Chavez are both great leaders and they will be remembered. But both of them have different situations that went on in their lifetime. They all have a different story. For example, Nelson Mandela was fighting for the rights of the African Americans and Cesar Chavez was fighting for the rights of farmers who didn't get paid enough. But which one is more persuasive?
Bill Clinton and Barack Obama have many similarities. Both of their first terms as President were shockingly alike such as, job approval rating difference being only point five percent and the interest in reforming available healthcare to people of lower class. Both President Clinton and President Obama were referred to as black presidents, only because they didn’t uphold the same backgrounds as did the former presidents. Neither Obama nor Clinton had a personal relationship with his father, which meant both grew up in a single parent working household – a reality rare in the time period. Both young Obama and young Clinton grew up aspiring to be great lawyers; they married lawyers Michelle and Hillary, respectively. Clinton, as well as Obama, belong to the Democratic Party. However, despite the many similarities between the two, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama could not be any more different. Former President Bill Clinton proves superior to the current President Barack Obama because of the beneficial strategies he used to improve the United States of America.
2016 is slowly approaching as 2015 comes to an end and thus ushers in a new president at the end of the year! The 2016 election will be held on November 8th, 2016 and will be the 58th quadrennial presidential election. With each presidential election comes the controversy on the basis of how they were elected. Primarily, the public’s opinion on the Electoral College and how it is the actual determining factor, in who is chosen for the presidency. The problems that may spring forward will be what the Electoral College actually is and how it works, why the Founding Fathers created the Electoral College, major criticisms on the Electoral College, and why it should be abolished.
As children, our parents tell us that monsters do not exist. The truth is that they do exist and they live among us, masquerading as one of us. Two examples of these monsters are serial killers Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer. A serial killer is classified as a person who kills three or more people, in separate events, over a time frame of a month, with “cooling off” periods in between. While Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer both share a sick twisted mind and a penchant for killing, differences in their upbringing, personality, and preferences drastically set them apart.
America has been fortunate to have two of the most successful representatives as the United States First Ladies. Although, First Lady, Michelle Obama, comes from humble beginnings and Former First Lady, Laura Bush comes from an affluent family, their contribution to the American people have been positive. Both ladies have always been in support of meaningful causes while they were First Ladies however, Michelle Obama has reached a superior level of accomplishment, and reached a higher level of popularity in comparison to Laura Bush. By coming from a humbling background, having electrifying
With nine candidates in the running, four Republicans and five Democrats the Florida Senate race became an important power grab for not only the party but also the Presidential race. Senate races within years of Presidential elections are always important as they help shift power within the nation. What is most interesting about the race is what the winner did and who the winner is. Marco Rubio rejoining the race for Senate after dropping out of the Presidential race was definitely a shake up. As the Democrats poured support into their bids for Senate, primary behind Patrick Murphy, to ensure the Democratic victory. While one would assume the Democrats would attack Marco Rubio for failing at the Presidential race, especially after not winning Florida, the attacks did not stop Rubio from sailing forward within the Republican spectrum. Rubio, despite not focusing on the Senate race was able to pull off 7% victory over the Democratic runner up. One particular reason Rubio was
When you think of a serial killer who comes to your mind? Ted Bundy? Son of Sam? Well those are the first two that come to my mind. Even though they are both serial killers they are very different. When you think about the pathology of these two killers they become completely diverse people. What made them start killing is so different from each other that it makes you wonder what made them tick in the first place.
Both women, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor, had rough lives living as women in the late 1900s. While in "Source 1: Ruth Bader Ginsburg", the unknown author explains Ginsburg's rough life living with her sharp intelligence and being one of the few women in classes, the author of "Source 2: Sonia Sotomayor" informs the reader about Sotomayor's tough life in general. Both Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg lived through a hard time, but still developed into amazing women. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, or Ginsburg, went through a really hard time being an intelligent woman in the mid 1900s. "She was one of only nine women in a class of 600 law students in the late 1950s at Harvard," explains the unknown author of "Source 1: Ruth Bader Ginsburg".

I chose to compare and contrast two actors called Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev. These two actors has some similarities and differences between each other. I was curious as two when these actors stared acting, Paul Wesley started in his junior year in High school. He began with theatre studies in New York City. On the other hand Nina Dobrev began with dancing, gymnastics, Theatre, Music, Visual arts with acting. In common they both acted in the same well-known TV show called the "The Vampire Diaries".
Many Americans are beginning to wonder who will run as the Democratic candidate for the next president of the United States. Since the 2008 election, one particular name has been the topic of conversation around most media outlets and households across the county. With over one million supporters who believe in her abilities to lead, Hillary Clinton possesses the qualities that meet the leadership criteria that would help her to become the leader of the free world. I choose to research Hillary Clinton because I admire the drive and passion she puts into her work. She is a unique global leader whose activism has promoted social change around the world.
When growing up, most children develop a special bond with the mother. In most families, even though there is still a father or father figure around to also care for the baby, he or she still grows up more attached to the mother. Up to this day, the mother has always been the one who makes most decisions regarding her children, in a court of law, jury’s and judges tend to side with the mom in custody battles. So where does this leave the father? Over the years it has been said that fatherhood has quickly evolved in terms of relationships with their children. Compared to primates, fathers in both monogamous and polygamous relationships tend to have limited parental involvement in childcare mainly due to how society shapes certain points of views and opinions.
The nation is split between these two and many people are describing it as a ‘pick your poison’ which is not a very comforting phrase while choosing the next leader of the nation. Looking at different polls and trends, I had a very difficult time predicting the outcome. In the end, I predict and hope that the next president of our nation to be Hillary. With her background involved in politics and government she would not need such a long period to adjust into a power holding position. Her values and her positions on foreign affairs would also benefit America more than the values carried by
