Many people happen to confuse a medical assistant with a Nurse. I would see why people tend to confuse these two, because I mean they are both connected in the medical field. Being a nurse seem to be better than a medical assistant. You’re more independent working rather than a medical assistant; the hard work pay off at the end with that nice juicy check.

A medical assistant and a nurse are both in the same located in the medical field. They both treat basic patient care. The basic patient care they both do as MA and Nurse is assisting their patients with hygiene and feeding. Also, making sure the environment in which the patient is in is clean enough and sterilized. They can either prepare their patients for diagnostic testing or procedures.

However, a nurse has less administrative work then a Medical assistant. Unlike, MA that has to obtain the basic medical history from the patient; a nurse has advanced level work like a detailed patient history.

But a MA works directly under the supervision of a licensed medical doctor so, they cannot write or give the patient care plans/orders. However, a Nurse can because they work under their own individual license.

On the contrary side a nurse would need the completion of training as well as a certification/license. Instead, a Medical Assistant needs training, but not all MA’s are required to go through training in order to work as a MA; they are not required to be licensed. They are both equally important, but having a license means more independence.

Furthermore, their salaries really big differences. While a medical assistant earns $21,000 to $31,000 a year. A Nurse earns $31,000 to $43,000 per year. But, a medical assistance’s salary is based on the training they have had, experience, and job duties assigned. On the other hand, a nurse’s salary depends on their education and type of degree they have.

Let’s not talk about the working hour’s alteration between the two. While a medical assistant works 40 hours a week; a nurse works 60 hours a week on average. The only mutual thing between these work hours is the after math, tired sore
