I would sincerely like to thank you for taking the time to read my concerns regarding why Romeo and Juliet killed themselves. I hope this letter helps you come to the conclusion of who was to blame for there deaths. I am the nurse who lived with the very famous family in the Capulet house hold. I’ve been a nurse here ever since Juliet was born and I loved her as if she was my own. I remember feeding Juliet when she was just a baby and nothing made me happier then to watch her grow and blossom into a young lady. Juliet was a sweet girl who had a big heart, but was always scared of her father. No matter what Juliet did, good or bad he would always criticize her with very harsh words. He had a plan for her and became upset when they were not followed. For example, Lord Capulet wanted Juliet to marry Paris. One day as I was cleaning the kitchen I heard loud sounds coming from upstairs, so I ran up only to find Juliet and Lord Capulet arguing. They were arguing because Juliet was trying to explain how she didn’t want to marry Paris, but her father was against that idea. He told her if she didn’t marry him, he would throw her out in the streets to starve and beg for money which would eventually lead to her being a prostitute. Lady Capulet tried to understand Juliet more than Lord Capulet and she tried to help her, but she was too scared to say anything because she too feared that the lord would hurt her or kick her out. Juliet only had two options and they were to either marry Paris whom she wasn’t in love with or to simply say goodbye to the word by killing herself. In this sad situation Juliet decided to go with her second option which was to kill her self. I believe if Juliet parents could have came to an agreement and allowed her to marry whom she wanted too then both Juliet and Romeo would have still been alive. The two families let there own prides get in the way of their children’s happiness and when all was said and done both sides regretted it. Sadly, it was too late for regret because they
