Society has seen itself overcome many vigorous periods, persevering and evolving into the lifestyles required. However aspects that trail by human experiences such as feelings have always remained the same. This can draw far back to William Shakespeare's 'King Lear', where we indulge in the lives of Lear and his innocent decision to prevent conflict after his death. Unfortunately this backlashed and gave birth to a curvy plot embedded with extensive human experiences, especially by the regards of 'False Hope', 'Deception' and 'Blindness’. Scattered across the plot, audiences may touch upon Shakespeare reverberating the use of 'nothing'. Lear's metaphoric line from the audio extract, "a man may see how this world goes with no eyes", is a sheer example of how Shakespeare has intended to reenact the strict lifestyles of a visually impaired being. The metaphoric inclusion further shows how Lear's characteristics can be reformed, as the audience now realizes his possessive nature through the idea of gauging someone's eyes out, i.e capping off a human's full potential. Lear's repetitive use of closed questions (rhetorical questions) in "Doth any here know me? This is not Lear: Doth Lear walk thus? speak thus? Where are his eyes?" (Act 1, Scene 4), shows the loss of identity and a sense of confusion through the King's lowest points of the play. This all of course is simply through his 'blindness' in realising Cordelia's levels of affection towards him, which results in both of their lives. Further developing on the characteristics of Lear mentioned earlier, Shakespeare has effectively retrograded the audiences intentions for the King, prominently through his hypocritical and yet metaphorical "look with thine eyes".
