The books “Divergent” by Veronica Roth and “Red Queen” by Victoria Aveyard are alike in many ways. Their concepts are similar because they both consist of difficult family life and are about a teenage girl who has to learn how to survive in new environments they end up in while bearing a huge secret. “Divergent” is about a sixteen-year-old named Tris Prior. In her futuristic and dystopian world, society is divided into five different factions. On an assigned day of each year, every teen must choose whether to stay in their birth faction (the faction in which they were born in) or switch to a new one. In order to make their choice easier, they all take an aptitude test. Each test is supposed to result with one faction that the person would be suited to, but Tris comes out with three. …show more content…
In her realm, Divergent is a very dangerous thing, and if anybody found out, then she would be killed. My other book, “Red Queen” is about an 18-year-old named Mare Barrow. In Mare’s world, society is also divided—but by blood. There are two different types of blood, which are red and silver. Silvers are considered superior to Reds because they have magical abilities that make them godlike. This causes a very unjust life because while Silvers are out doing whatever they want, Reds are trapped in their own little villages, having very little money, and being conscripted once they reach the age of 18 because Norta (the country this book takes place in) is in a war. Mare is a Red, which means that she is very poor. One day, an expected event occurs which leads her to the royal castle. Once Mare gets there, she discovers that she has magical abilities that only Silvers have in front of all the nobles and even the royal family themselves. To hide this possibility, the royal family disguises her as the lost Silver princess, Lady Mareena Titanos. Now, she has to learn how to survive in this new world because one wrong move could cost her her
The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard does not require a great imagination. Ms. Aveyard does a splendid job of using imagery. The plot of the novel flows in a way that makes it feel real. The book is told from the perspective of Mare Barrow. Throughout the book we see the occurrences of her life. She progresses a great deal for the duration of the novel.
Tris changes from being unsure and weak to a strong, brave, and determined in the book, Divergent. In the beginning of the story, Tris thinks she is not selfless enough to be in Abnegation. She is even more confused as her aptitude test determines she is divergent, a person who has more than one personality type who is suited for more than one faction. As she transfers to Dauntless, Tris realizes that she is at a disadvantage in Stage One, which involved physical activity. She is short and scrawny, and she doesn’t excel in an of the exercises alongside losing the fights. This threatens her chance of passing initiation. As a result of this sudden change, Tris misses her caring family. However, Tris doesn’t mourn and drown in self-pity. Instead,
Both books Number the Stars (Lois Lowry) and Divergent (Veronica Roth) are excellent books, that are completely different when it comes to showing the issues. But are also related because of the Intense situations in the books. In Number The Stars, Annemarie, her family and her best friend Ellen are dealing with being a Jew in the Holocaust. In Divergent, Tris is not put into just one Fraction which her Society realize on. She is put into all of them, she is Divergent. Despite the fact that there is scary and intense moments in both books. From mass killings at concentration camps (Number The Stars) to hiding and fighting for what's right even though that means breaking the fractions and crushing society (Divergent). These books

In the beginning of the book Tris has to make a very tough choice of which faction to go to. She has a very hard choice because her aptitude test results did not tell her just one faction she is most like. This choice can affect her life. ...eisz. She can hear her playing the piano and thinks of her talking about art. She wonders if she is a real artist. She becomes exhausted and knows that she is too far out to return. The water that she was so mesmerized with throughout the novel and that was the beginning of her new life, was also the end.
For my independent choice reading, I chose the book Rebel Belle. The main character, Harper, is the school’s it girl. She has the boyfriend everybody wants and a group of friends who will do anything for her. This all changes and suddenly she’s a Paladin, protecter of the Oracle. At first she can’t figure out who this is, or even what an Oracle or Paladin is, but once she does, things start to get complicated. She is sucked into this whole other world that involves car chases, murders, and trying to save her own life.
The life of Dana The novel Silver Sparrow by Tayari Jones is the story of two families with the same father, a bigamist. Chaurisse and her mother Laverne, James Witherspoon's first wife, have no idea the other family exists. Dana and her mother are part of his secret life, playing second fiddle to the family they share their father/husband with. The novel presents a wide variety of instances where intersections between gender, race, or class influence a character’s life. This novel shows how the identity of people changes throughout the course of life and how it affects their interaction with other people in life.

This independence is also expressed in such ways where she teaches herself social and language aspects of the cottagers. She did not rely on Felix to help her make it through this new life. Therefore, giving herself the freedom to educate herself in order to survive in this new

Red Leaves by Sita Brahmachari is the story of a group of teenagers, each with family troubles, bonding and coming together, to make a family of their own. The majority of Red Leaves was spent developing the characters, leaving less time to develop the plot or action of the story, in contrast, Graffiti Knight spent two-thirds of the story developing the plot up to the climax when the protagonists escape from the Soviets, leaving less time to develop the characters and their relationships.
