Hi, This may take you by surprise, but this is Rocky and Zeppelin writing to you. Rocky and I have a few things we would like to tell you and some are positive and some are negative. First, we want to tell you that we are so proud of you for all the work you have done with school. You have been so focused and dedicated to your school work and that is amazing for you. This comes with a downside though which is you haven’t cleaned our cages in two months. This is a big deal for us because we are sitting in gross bedding. Luckily, we have our hammocks to sleep in and our clean dust baths to hold us off until you clean our cages hopefully this week. You have been telling us that you will clean the cage for the past two weeks and nothing has happened,
In both texts "The Unfortunate Fireflies" a fiction article by Clara Dillingham Pierson and "The Discontented Rock" an Iroquois tale by Frances Jenkins Olcott, both characters believed something about themselves that is not true.Both characters believed on something that is slightly similar and slightly different. But, then learned their lesson and the characters changed.
Lewis and Clark, and Pike did explorations to the Louisiana Purchase and to the south and west. They both were sent by the president Jefferson but the difference is that Lewis and Clark went on a secret expedition and Pike didn’t. Pike’s expedition started the same year that Lewis and Clark were coming back home and it only lasted 1 year. Lewis and clark’s expedition lasted about 3 years. in both of the expeditions, Native Americans were contacted. Pike did make a big mistake which was that he accidentally ended up in Spanish territory and they even built up a fort there. Lewis and Clark’s expedition is considered more valuable because they got to hold councils with some native american tribes, they found an easy ways to get to the Louisiana
Harriet Tubman and The people could fly, are both stories based on slavery. They have many differences and similarities. They are both telling true facts about slavery but they explain them differently. The story Harriet Tubman talks about her life when she was young and how. She learned her life living on a plantation. The story “ The People Could Fly,” Sarah talks about her terrible life as a slave. The main things I will talk about is, escaping, father and daughter relationship and secretive language.
Both of these books are centered around three young boys going through many trials and tribulations throughout their young adult life. All six of these boys have lost their parents in tragic accidents; that ended up changing the way these boys grew up and the path that they later chose. The book The Outsiders is surrounding three boys by the names of Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry. Darry who is the oldest of the three boys begins to take on responsibility of taking care of his three younger brothers. These boys all end up taking a bad path in life, which resulted in joining a gain and the gain, became their family, somewhat of a filler for what they have lost in their real families home.
The two novels, Animal Farm, written by George Orwell and The Sky So Heavy, by Claire Zorn explore the theme of oppression through characterisation. Animal Farm is a novella depicting the lead up to the Russian Revolution, with characters from the events taking part in the story as animals. In The Sky so Heavy, Finn and his peers are stranded in a nuclear winter, hopelessly trying to source food for survival. The characterisation of Napoleon in Animal Farm and Finn in The Sky So Heavy both portray similar oppression through their speech. Napoleon portrays oppression when he states, “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others” (90), similarly to Finn; “our world was made from the dull light filtered through the gauze
Reading a book once in a while helps us from being ignorant from the outside world. Readers many times dare to compare and discuss about the books that they have read. This works when we read two master pieces of literature that could be very similar and in the same time very different stories. I had the great fortune of reading the screenplay of “To Kill a Mockingbird” as well as the part of the memoir “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”. After reading these two great pieces of literature I dare to compare the main characters, Scout from “To Kill a Mockingbird” and Maria from “I know why the caged bird sings”. The main intentions of this two books are to teach lesson to their readers whether they could be children or adults.
Dreams are goals in life where people aspire to execute their passionate desire to an extent where it motivates them, allowing many to grasp their objectives (Dictionary). However, the dream can consume someone’s thoughts and acts, altering their persona. The nature of each protagonist in the novel, The Great Gatsby by Scott Fitzgerald, and in the film American Gangster by Ridley Scott, were very similar due to the fact that their dreams destroyed their character. The protagonist in The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby, first aspired to become a rich man. In efforts of fulfilling his desires, his own dream destructed his emotional conscious. Similarly, the main character of American Gangster, Frank Lucas was destructed, but by immorality and wrongdoing
The movie The Kite Runner is based on the book and it contains both subtle and explicit differences as all books and movies do. Both the book and the movie have very compelling and moralistic themes though at times the movie’s themes seem limited. The themes presented throughout the movie and the book are penance, loyalty, prejudice, religion and growing up. The characterization, overall plot of the movie and the setting of the book seem to be consistent with each other though at times they both may vary both slightly and drastically.
The Lewis and Clark expedition (1804-1806) was the first US expedition to cross the United States ashore to the Pacific coast. Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States from 1801 to 1809, convinced Congress to allocate $ 2,500 at the time.
In this paragraph I will discuss the relationship between two kinds of books. The first one is Anthem by Ayn Rand it is about people in this town where they don’t have any feelings and they have to follow rules from other people. Also the other book is called The Maze Runner by James Dashner it is about a group of boys that live in a maze and they are locked in this maze until one guy finds a way to get out of it. There is also a place where I will be talking about the comparison of the Anthem and The Maze Runner. In Anthem by Ayn Rand there is definite distopian themes as well as the Maze runner by James Dasher.
Benjamin Disraeli once said, “the magic of first love is the ignorance that it can never end”. In similar ways, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby and the film The Notebook directed by Nick Cassavetes both share a similar love story producing the idea that first love never dies. Both the novel and the film present the idea of a lower class man falling in love with a wealthy woman. Neither of the men are able to stay with the women due to disapproval. When the men finally reconnect with the women, they realize they are already in a new relationship. Although the women are in different relationships, they know they are still in love with their first love, leaving a conflict for them in the current relationship
Essay 4: Comparative Analysis of Two Texts When comparing two texts, one must look at the characters and themes to find similarities and differences and we see a similarity with the theme of accepting reality in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and The Great Gatsby. There are differences in both texts with the way the characters fight reality, but the outcome is the same. The power of love in both texts is looked at as more important than social priorities and the main characters will do anything to get what they want and it results in death. One might come to conclusions to say that F. Scott Fitzgerald based the relationship of Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan on Romeo and Juliet, seeing that both stories have characters who do not accept the reality and in their minds, love overpowers everything. When looking at these two texts side to side, one would notice many similarities in the actions of the main characters.
In Edwin Arlington Robinson’s poems, “Richard Cory” and “Miniver Cheevy” the main characters are portrayed as outcasts. Both are shunned from society neither having any real friends. Though these characters have some similarities, the way in which Robinson portrays them is very different. Richard Cory is admired by his peers, where as, Miniver Cheevy is opposite; people look down on him. One man appearing to have everything takes his own life, while the other appearing to have nothing accepts his misery.
Behind nearly every movie, there is subliminal context that is far more complex. There are no exceptions for children’s movies, either. In Chicken Run, produced in 2000, a brood of hens attempt to evade their fate of becoming “chicken pies” due to a decrease in the production of eggs (Lord & Park). In Toy Story 3, produced in 2010, a group of toys are mistakenly donated to a daycare that is dominated by an evil bear. Subsequently, they devise an escape plan in effort of returning home (Unkrich). Similarly, in both of these films, the characters find themselves in an undesirable setting in an endeavor to escape impending doom. This is a reflection of the Jewish pursuit of liberty from the Nazis. Chicken Run and Toy Story 3 give a transparent reference to the Holocaust on account of the toys and chickens alike, being decidedly useless, are condemned and ultimately led to their presumed demise- not so coincidentally being an oven (Chicken Run) and a furnace (Toy Story 3).
It was finally the first day of school; I was excited yet nervous. I hoped I would be able to make new friends. The first time I saw the schools name I thought it was the strangest name I’ve ever heard or read, therefore I found it hard to pronounce it in the beginning.
