The Careers that are being compare will be a social worker and a registered nurse. We are going to compare these careers in the following fields: salary, working conditions, education that is required, advancement opportunities, and competition. We are going to comparing salary by looking at what the average nurse and social worker make yearly. We will compare the environments of the two careers considering risks and dangers and how comfortable it is. Looking at what the minimum education needed to obtain each job and how much the schooling with cost will be compared. A nurse right out of school will make around 47,000. A nurse with 3-5 years’ experience can make around 54,000 to 64,000. A senior nurse who has many years of experience and many responsibilities can make around 67,000 to 110,000.
• Working conditions o Focusing on risks in the work place nursing has plenty. Nurses come in contact with patients who may be contagious or have disease. Another point is that nursing may come in contact with people who a have a serious mental illness which could put their lives in danger. Some patients may not like what the nurse is doing whether it’s taking a blood sample or blood pressure the patient might try to harm the nurse which is a dangerous factor to consider. There are also good things like saving a person’s life or making a person feel better which is a rewarding part of the job.
• Education o A bachelor of science in nursing is required to become a registered nurse. This takes about 2-4 years to complete.
