Common sense is an important attribute to have wherever you are in the world. Much of what you need to know and remember while in Thailand or anywhere is common sense. For some reason though, common sense is one of the first things men forget when they come to Thailand. The words of wisdom in this chapter can be applied just anywhere in the world. While I am certain those reading (and writing) this book are well endowed with common sense, nevertheless, I suggest you read it anyway. If one of these items jogs your memory at a later date, it might very well save you time, money, or your life.

In Thailand, there is a tendency to talk things up.
“It’s beautiful!”
“Special price for you!”
“It’s not expensive.”
“Your family will love this place.”
If you’re fortunate, everything will be as stated. Do your due diligence beforehand; make certain you get what you are supposed to get.

When men come to Thailand and hit the red-light area in the country, all of the sudden life changes. They become more handsome than they ever dreamed, compared to some Thais, they’re wealthy, and they are good enough to land the lady that back home, they never had a chance with. Of course, in most cases all bets are off if there’s no money involved.
Prostitutes work for money. They provide their body and sex in exchange for money. Prostitution is the world’s oldest profession, yet when many foreigners come to Thailand, working girls somehow morph into love interests. Instead of having a couple of hours for fun, some foreigners forget everything and start believing the hype.
