Quitters make promises, but winners develop commitment. People can say they are going to commit to many things throughout their lives, but few actually stick with their plan of action to accomplish whatever the pinnacle of their goals may be. Commitment is difficult but has been a huge factor for the success in my life, especially in sports. Aspects that define commitment include hard work, overcoming adversity, and possessing the will to sacrifice. My high school football coach once said ¨Don't skip any steps, trust and commit to the process, and I will watch you succeed¨ -Jamie Morford. Commitment takes hard work day in and day out, and once I have committed myself, there are no days off. Every day I need to come physically and mentally …show more content…
Many important things will be sacrificed while striving toward the pinnacle of any journey. One of the hardest sacrifices I have made toward a commitment is my social life and friend time. I have many great friends, and I love hanging out, but in order to stay committed, I have to cut down on the amount of time spent with them. Sacrifices include going to bed early for a morning practice instead of staying up all night with friends. On weekends, this may mean being at an all day Saturday tournament which dampers into what I want to do on Friday and Saturday night. Another horrible sacrifice is the amount of sleep at night. Do not forget about homework or three game days a week, which means getting to bed late. Also, going to bed late because of schoolwork and long bus rides is not an excuse for not waking up early for the morning workout or practice. These examples of sacrifice are what is needed to be the best version of oneself. One of the biggest sacrifice in my case of commitment during wrestling is maintaining a healthy diet to keep my weight where it needs to be. This means I need to sacrifice all unhealthy foods, staying away from snacks, and giving up time with friends while they go out to dinner. While I sacrifice and it may be tough, it sets me up for what I earn in the long run.
To conclude, commitment is anything but easy. Everyday has new, tough obstacles that challenge true commitment, but constantly working hard, overcoming adversity, and having the will to sacrifice for success exemplifies real commitment. All these aspects may add up to success, but trusting the process of keeping faith in my goals and striving to become the best version possible of myself has been the true commitment. Trusting the process is key to staying committed to the path to

Social attachment drives an individual to value what other people think of them. They do not want to do anything that would risk the emotional bond they have formed with the people they value in their lives. The second element is commitment. Commitment refers to the time and effort that is spent building a normal life. It is the commitment each individual spends working hard in their life toward success, whether it is regarding your education or career, or building your status and character.
Commitment, it is being loyal or dedicated to something you love doing. I love being in NJROTC, so I am dedicated to it. Being committed to something helps me stay focus to what I need to do in life. I didn't know what commitment really was until I found something I loved doing and I stick to it. In the future for my goals, I will use commitment to stay on task, stay loyal to what I love, and being dedicated to what I need to
Of the several theories we have discussed involving commitment, I have taken a particular interest in M.P. Johnson’s Theory of Commitment as I feel it very effectively dissects the primary drives that reside behind one’s desire, or lack thereof, to remain committed in a relationship. In his theory, Johnson describes three kinds of perceived commitment that ultimately lead one to the decision to stay in their relationship. These three kinds of commitment discussed are personal, moral and structural commitment (Berscheid & Regan, 2005).
Whereas, commitment is all about combination of confidence and motivation. Confidence is a measure of a person 's assurance on self capabilities like a confident person/employee is the one who feels he is able to do a task in a quite professional way without even getting any much direction whereas motivation represents person 's own interest in doing the task his/her and enthusiasm for getting good results.
Don’t ever give up when things get hard. Quitting something is easy. That’s why most people give up when they are so close to success. Most people want to do the minimal and put in the least amount of effort for the maximum results. Well, if you’re doing that what are you running away from? Are you running away from success because you’re scared? Or will people judge you? Hard work and dedication will teach you not to give up. Suck it up and put in the work. If you’re not feeling motivated this guide will help to stay on task: How to Get Motivated and Not Feel

When you keep the commitments you make with yourself, one of the greatest benefits, which will flow to you, as a result of acting on great ideas when they come to you, is a feeling of contentment and satisfaction. How great do you feel when you keep commitments you make with yourself? The art of self-discipline breeds, self-worth, which in turn helps you to feel better about yourself and your self-esteem, improves too. The more positive you are and the greater your belief in yourself, the greater the chances that you will succeed at the things you attempt. This will inspire you to always try your
How many people think persistence is a good thing? After looking at the evidence, many people could come to the conclusion that persistence seems to have more negative aspects than positive. If someone is persistent in doing the same thing over again, there is little to no chance of them receiving a different outcome. So in other words, if a person wants to succeed at life, then they should not be persistent. There is evidence that persistence can lead to hatred, death, and failure in life.
I do have to admit that sometimes this can be extremely difficult and may leave one feeling a bit vulnerable. Commitment is the ability to take a risk and to accept the possibility of disappointment or pain. Again, I have to agree that commitment can be demanding, but to look on the bright side, it can also be rewarding. To be able to stay in ...

Organizational commitment is the strength of an individual’s identification with an organization. There are three kinds of organizational commitment: affective, continuance, and normative. Affective commitment is an employee’s intention to remain in an organization because of a strong desire to do so. Continuance commitment is and employee’s tendency to remain in an organization because he or she cannot afford to leave. Lastly, normative commitment is the perceived obligation to remain in an organization (Nelson & Quick, 2013, pg. 62).
This was the lesson I learnt from my father, an unceasing learner and a person who would never give up no matter how many and how difficult the obstacles may be. Having understood from him that success is a moving target, the years of my life with my family have inculcated in me a desire to achieve perfection.
“We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort” (Owens). Without any determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort dreams will not turn into reality. People should look forward and push for that reality. Anyone can say they will fulfill their dream, but it takes someone with dedication, determination and effort to accomplish that dream. Effort is the key to success. Effort is like the sugar and spice to everything nice. Without any push of effort for the dream to become reality dedication, determination and self-discipline don’t take place. The dream drives people to accomplish the unexpected.
