In this reflection, describe an event or an experience in your life that will influence your academic work and goals at Colorado Christian University.
The event that happened in my life in which influenced and continues to influence my academic work and the goal I have set for myself at Colorado Christian University is the calling to serve others in a spiritual form is the vocation in which has lead me to this point in my life.
The journey on this path started in the summer of 2005, a team mate that I played softball with invited me to go to church with him on Sunday. I told him that I would go but really never found time ‘time’ to actually put forth effort into going. The next game he approached me and asked again if I would go

After the service I quickly obtained a Bible and search for that specific passage and read it, over the next weeks or so I began to exam the Bible passage by passage, I began to go to more services and gaining a better understanding of the Bible and its message. I then enrolled in many
Bible classes by mail. I felt a pull to become a helper in the spiritual aspect of life. The more I read the more I want to learn and understand and figure out on how I can apply what Jesus taught into my life. Then one day I felt a stronger call to the vocation of becoming a minister. I was born and raised in a strong Roman Catholic faith based family so my path begun in that direction and had brought me to the point of just calling myself a Christian.
I will apply what I learn over the next four years from CCU into my everyday life. I as a student enrolled to CCU to learn the theology of the Bible, become a strong Christian leader and how I will organize those who follow the faith in the right path of Jesus. I believe that CCU will help me in a clearer understanding of the faith and help me become a stronger leader in which will help me help our fellow Christians with their struggles in
“The author Victor Rhee of “Hebrews as a Leader of the Faith Community” enlightens the path way on the subject of leaders in the body of Christ. The title alone brings a certain kind of curiosity to what makes a leader according to the book of Hebrews. If leadership training could have a manual it should be parallel to Hebrews. Leadership today is missing the courage to stand for something that is right according to the word of God. No matter what is taking place in our society beliefs and value system. Leadership has suffered greatly both inside and outside the church, especially in Christian leadership. One of the main points that the author of this article points out is the society woes are the same as ours today. How fitting is this when we need direction for Christian ministry. There is a soul searching event that is taking place for leaders to rise up and be all of what God intended for them in caring the gospel of Christ to the world. Rhee, who wrote the journal points to the characteristics of the author of Hebrews as a leader who will arise for the cause of Christ by illuminating the importance of courage, faith, love, hope , to fight against apostates, and believe in leadership unity when leading as a leader of the Christian faith.
... been nourished at Grace Church and the Merge youth group, and I have been a part of the youth group at Northview Church as well. Taking apologetics through Anchors Away has fomented my faith, and I have made amazing friends both my age and adults who have guided and are guiding me through life. Most recently, I went on an evangelical trip to South Africa that completely changed my outlook on life and is currently challenging the path I had defined for myself.

—. How to read the Bible for all its worth. 3rd Edition. Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2003.
Our goal as a church was to go into another community and share the gospel with them but we did it in a unique way, through community service. Together we volunteered in a trailer park to clean up trash, fix gardens, redo roofing, paint and clean trailers. While doing this I meet an old woman who appreciated what we were doing for her and her home and wanted to know why. This gave my small group and I an opportunity to help guide her to Christ and when we left not only did we give her a better and beautiful community and trailer to live in, but we left her with a bible and a thirst to learn more about our God. This experience was important to me because it showed how one can truly make a difference in people’s lives just through serving
We have been counseled heretofore by prophets of old, "to seek learning, even by study, and by faith". We have an obligation to search the scriptures and to learn what the Lord is teaching us and warning us of. We must go forward with faith, and not backward. We must come unto the Lord, and not expect the Lord to come unto us.
A person does not experience many events that shape their life in a large way, whether it be for better or worse. I have had just one major situation that has sculpted me into the person that I am today. In February of 2008, I was diagnosed with a life changing disease; it would relieve me of the agony I had been experiencing for as long as I could remember, but also restrict my diet for the rest of my life.
Again I was raised neutrally with religion. As a family we didn't attend church. My grandparents are all Jehovah's Witness's, although both my father and mother ended up being disfellowshipped from the congregation. Since not having any religious influence being taught to me, I was open to explore different religions for myself. I learned about several different religions. I know now that I am a Spiritualist, rather than Christian.
I began at this time to revere religion rather than resent it. I started going to weekly youth group meetings where I met kids my age who shared my beliefs and wanted to talk about it as well as have a really, really good time. I also met Mike Stafford, the youth minister at my parish, who has already impacted me profoundly. I started to pay attention during church. I signed up to become an altar server, and have recently signed up to be an usher and reader as well.
In addition, I’ve learned to really walk in the boldness that comes from God, and have prayed for my friends at Montgomery College as well as some
An Event which changed my life, well when, I think back on my life there’s
During my seventh grade year, my church went to a youth rally at a local church on weekend. Because of this rally and the message it sent, I realized and wanted to give my life to Jesus through baptism. It was awesome, I got home as a young teenager and actually talked to my mom about what it really means to be a Christian and to pick up your cross and follow him. So that very next weekend, my dad baptized me in front of the whole church on Sunday morning. It was an awesome feeling knowing that because of Jesus’ grace and mercy, I will be with him one day and spend eternity with him. Although I was on top of the world at this point, I still didn’t know fully what I had gotten into. So the next few years, I live the typical Christian life. I was trying to be the perfect person by doing the right stuff, I would try not to cuss, I would try to wear as many WWJD bracelets as I could so that I wouldn’t have to talk to them about Christ and they could just see it on my wrist, I would not join in on conversations with my friends that I knew were not right, I was just living life on cruise control.
I had only been at CCU for one semester before this internship and the classes that I took all did help me in some way or another throughout my internship. The first classes would be my New Testament class and Old Testament class, which taught me so much for than I ever knew about the bible, with the people, dates, fact ect. These classes helped me because they gave me more knowledge about my faith and scripture to build my relationship with God but also so that I would be able
In my self-generated statement of faith I have continued the conversation from my last statement which finishes with “(Scripture) reveals ways to know God, meet Christ, and engage Spirit. Scripture challenges us to work in faithfulness, with an open mind, to advance a world of inclusiveness and equity in faithfulness to God’s redemptive call.” It was
Throughout all of my 18 years I’ve learned about many bible stories and I am still learning. The most important thing I have learned is
