I wish I still had enthusiasm. The enthusiasm I had when I was in elementary. The enthusiasm, which I had in my little nine year old mind, to read a book. Books in elementary school were so fascinating to me because it was an actual source of entertainment; just like an iPad is a source of entertainment to kids nowadays. I had so many favorite books Back in elementary, I was a decent reader, generally meaning that I not only enjoyed reading, I actually comprehended it. I loved all types of books, from books like Curious George to books like Out of My Mind. I even joined the Helen Ruffin reading bowl in fourth and fifth grade because I loved reading so much. In middle school, I started to find myself struggling with finding books to read. It was difficult to find a book that was intriguing to me. I mean, there were a few books that were interesting, such as Parvana’s Journey and The Breadwinner, but again, it was tough to find books similar to them. Finding a good book in middle school was like finding a needle in a hay stack. I’m currently in high school and I’ve been reading the same book for over a month. My reading level and skills have been decimated all due to the fact that I’ve been slacking on my reading. The book I’m actively reading, If I Stay by Gayle Forman, didn’t seem that it would catch my attention but surprisingly, it’s really good. Reading books like this one reminds me of the times of when I was in elementary school and it makes me want to read more and more. In elementary school there were so many books to choose from, especially since I was on the reading bowl team. I read amazing books, such as After Ever After, Countdown, Mockingbird, and so many more. I read all of the books that were in the reading bowl requirements and after the season was over, I only read a handful after that. I'm happy that I did read those books after wards because one of those books was an eye-opener for me because it made more more informed and
