Every step I take is a step I take with passion. Passion is my driving force of success. It causes me to work past my limits and boundaries to accomplish a greater goal. Passion is the shouting of my gray haired, cross country coach to keep going during a cross country race. Even when I feel like dying, wanting to tumble over and not get up again, I keep running. Once I finish the race, I’m filled with an overwhelming feeling of satisfaction. Passion is not falling down in the middle of the golf course or simply leaving a question blank on a test because of lack of knowledge. It is not a mean high school girl saying slanderous comments towards me. Passion doesn’t make me cry or give up on my dreams. Failure and quitting play no role in the passion lying within me. Passion is working not only for myself, but for others. My teammates. My coaches. My school. My community. It’s the force that keeps me pushing past my insecurities or fears. Gaining speed on the flats. Propelling myself up massive hills. Past my intimidating competitors. Striding towards the finish …show more content…
Then, as the season started up I pushed myself at every practice and ran my heart out every race the coach gave me the opportunity to run in. While some races were full of medals and praise from my peers and coaches, others were full of futile effort and frustration. Even when agonizing setbacks happened, my passion kept me working towards better times. After beating out my competitor for a prized position spot, I ended up accomplishing my goal of making state as a part of our team’s 4x8 relay. Completing my dream of competing on Drake University’s beautiful blue track. I was filled with a great sense of profound gratification and pure bliss. Sophomore track season showed me that passion can be the key to fulfilling my
Patrick Combs' book, Majoring in Success, argues that one must find their passion in order to become successful by enforcing that: it is important to admit one’s interests to find out what they like to do, it is beneficial to find one’s true aspirations so that they can narrow down their interests, it is helpful too realize that there are many jobs related to one’s interests so they can find the right job, and it is necessary that one faces their fears so they can be successful. I agree with Comb's argument that it is essential for one to determine their passions in order to gain success because I think that one will never truley be "successful," unless they are happy with what they are doing with their lives. I found gis argument and teaching to be inspriational because they have taught me that in order to succeed failure is bound to happen along the way.

“Passion is what makes life interesting, what ignites our soul, fuels our love and carries our friendships, stimulates our intellect, and pushes our limits. A passion for life is contagious and uplifting. Passion cuts both ways. Those that make you feel on top of the world are equally able to turn it upside down. In my life I want to create passion in my own life and with those I care for. I want to feel, experience and live every emotion. I will suffer through the bad for the heights of the good.” - Pat Tillman (Evans, 33)
“Follow your passion, be prepared to work hard and sacrifice, and above all, and don’t let anyone limit your dreams”, says Donovan Bailey, a Jamaican-born track star , as he expresses the strength and power of determination of never giving up and following one’s dreams. Passions drive individuals to accomplish great things, and they bring a sense of character and uniqueness to a person. From serving the community, exploring the wonders of history, and taking picture after picture, these passions have defined me for who I am.
When I hear the word track I get so excited because I know it is something that i’m good at, something I can prove myself to be the best at, a place where I don’t have to think or feel pressured to be the best all the time. For me, track is a place where I can escape and become something other than just another student or athlete. Track has changed my life for the better. My story starts in the 7th grade, when I was the best basketball player on the 7th grade girls basketball team for Brainerd.
The start of the 2002 track season found me concerned with how I would perform. After a disastrous bout with mononucleosis ended my freshmen track season, the fear of failure weighed heavily on my mind. I set a goal for myself in order to maintain focus and to push myself like nothing else would. My goal for my sophomore track season was to become a state champion in the 100 meter hurdles. I worked hard everyday at practice and went the extra mile, like running every Sunday, to be just that much closer to reaching my goal. The thought of standing highest on the podium in the center of the field, surrounded by hundreds of spectators, overcame my thoughts of complaining every time we had a hard workout. When I closed my eyes, I pictured myself waiting in anticipation as other competitors names were called out, one by one, until finally, the booming voice announced over the loudspeaker, "...and in first place, your 2002 100 meter hurdle champion, from Hotchkiss, Connie Dawson." It was visions like these that drove me to work harder everyday.
My sophomore year had begun and I wasn't sure whether or not I was going to do track this year. Last year I played football in the fall and soccer in the spring. Not really enjoying it, the decision was made to play " real futbol" (soccer) in the fall, leaving the spring sports season open. My friend kept telling me how fun track was, so I decided to give it a try.
Wait. Be still. Don't go over the line. Don't let go. Wait for it. "BANG!" My reactions were precise as I sprung out of the blocks. The sun was beating down on my back as my feet clawed at the blistering, red turf. With every step I took, my toes sunk into the squishy, foul smelling surface, as my lungs grasped for air. Everything felt the way it should as I plunged toward my destination. I clutched the baton in my sweaty palms, promising myself not to let go. My long legs moved me as fast as I could go as I hugged the corner of the line like a little girl hugging her favorite teddy bear. The steps were just like I had practiced. As I came closer to my final steps, my stomach started twisting and my heart beat began to rise. The different colors of arrows started to pass under my feet, and I knew it was time.
Someone who is in the mode of passion has become an important being compared to others. Having a mode of passion has an outcome of irrepressible wants, powerful endeavors, and great
As the hot wind blew over the runners on the start line, I started to jump up and down in preparation for the imminent race. We were at the first cross country meet of my junior year, and nerves were abundant. I readied myself at the start line and I began considering my success in past years. The first two years of high school passed quickly, and I tried to recall the rapid improvement I experienced. The coming year was different; with other commitments to consider, I was worried my running career would suffer.
Passion is your fuel. It motivates you to do something. It propels you up the mountain of your dreams and goals. Have a passion for life, for people, for animals, for your causes and your convictions, and you will be nearly unstoppable. Be a role model for those who have great needs and can't do
When the word passion comes to mine, the first word that many people associated the word passion with is love or desire. The word passion can take on many forms and have multiple meanings depend on the situation it is used in. According to the Merriam-Webster Encyclopedia, passion is described as any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate. A strong affectionate feeling or desire (“Passion”). For me, passion takes on several meanings. Passion is having an undying love for another person. Passion is having a purpose in life. The feeling of passion does not have to only have to relate to another human being; it can be viewed as a feeling of enthusiasm and excitement toward an activity, hobby, or item as well.
If there is no passion and people do not feel it, then people will not see any possibilities (Kouzes et al., 2012). When envisioning the future it is super important that I stay in touch with my deep feelings. People are not going to do things because I tell them to, they have to be motivated and inspired to do so. I have a passion other than my own fame and
Passion for Family, Community, Business, Technology and Intellectual growth are what motivate me on the daily basis. These are vital parts that have contributed to framing me into the person I’ve become. They have also shaped my short-term and long-term goals in life. It’s critical for one to have a vision for their life and what they anticipate to accomplish. Without a vision or desire there is no hope for one to continue and to purse anything. My experiences with in my passions have helped me aligned my vision for my life. They have given me the valuable knowledge that have set me up for success to get to this point in life.
