Growing up in a typical middle class family; my upbringing has prepared me for unpredictability and chaos. Fighting with water scarcity problems, load sedding and Nepal bandhs are the kind of tensions and trials that every normal Nepalese family goes through as my country is fighting for stability. However, amidst all of this, my mind was a typhoon thinking what I will be; perhaps a doctor like every family desires or at times a politician for my inner patriot and I even considered acting thanks to my dancing and acting capability. Confused and bewildered, I tried all just to experiment and see what my heart really wants. And then reality hit me last winter when I got an opportunity to intern at a private bank in NepaI. Interning at Nepal Investment …show more content…
Coincidentally, Harry’s adventures takes place in England, and I feel that the opportunity to study at the University of Northampton brings forth a hope that perhaps I shall get the Hogwarts School experience in a different manner. Keeping my fantasy aside, I know wanting to become an Investment Banker is a challenge there itself. I know it well that this degree needs to be approached in a holistic manner that incorporates economic, environmental, and interpersonal systems. I want to be taught in a way that encompasses all of these different frontiers; exactly how a British degree is taught. As for wanting to study in NAMI College it is more a dream come true for me to see academics is taught in an interactive way. The college motto suggests “where learning is fun”. I want to explore this academic institution where learning and having fun goes hand in hand. Alongside that I want to see myself grow and adapt while contributing in my own small way to the society; something this college and its students are known for. Being here I can continue my love and passion for my hobbies alongside studying and heading towards my
While other children watched their favorite cartoon or played their favorite video game, reading business articles and watching the fluctuations seen in the stock market enthralled me. Renowned leaders in the business world have always been of interest to me, specifically Warren Buffet. My favorite quote by Buffet is “It’s better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than you and you’ll drift in that direction.” By attending CMU, I would personify this quote. Growing up, my parents have instilled into me, many essential values, such as working hard and “being the best me I could be.” I have always expected a lot from myself, but high expectations from my parents and close friends, have increased my work ethic and lifted my goals and aspirations even higher. For that reason, I hope to challenge myself through the prestigious Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Science’s economics curriculum. The undergraduate economics program would prepare me for a vast array of careers. Jobs in policy, law, and business are all possible, or if one desires to go to some sort of post graduate school, that is also possible. By having such a top-notch education, I would surely be closer to achieving my goal of receiving my MBA from Tepper. In making all this possible, a wide range of classes must be made available. Classes that are available in just about any economics curriculum, like Intermediate Economics, are also available here, but classes like Behavioral Economics and Global Electronic Markets are what makes CMU unique. Another attractive aspect of CMU is the jointly administered economics degree by Dietrich and Tepper. I feel this will make for a solid foundation in the field of econo...
To put it simply, there is nothing more I would rather do than influence how people see good and the bad in our world, and to me there is only one medium for that, film.
Stricken with rickets, attention deficit disorder, a severed facial nerve, and being voted "most likely to end up in the electric chair" by his fifth grade class, this individual triumphed over many obstacles. As an aspiring writer and actor he was rejected as an extra in the film The Godfather and was persuaded to switch careers for more realistic goals. Sparks of genius were recognized in his script writing, but he was told only legitimate actors would have a chance at performing the title roles.
Few situations exist that can strip a person of their ability to influence their world as much as social desolation. In the words of Rudyard Kipling, “The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. To be your own man is a hard business. If you try it, you'll be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too h...
A very common concern that faces many high school students today in the world is whether they go to college or not. There are many factors in whether a student is eligible to attend a college or not. They have to have enough money to cover the cost, prepare early, and choosing what they want to attend college for. These are some of the many issues that might occur when a student starts to think or plan on going to a college.
After high school majority of parents want their children to go to college, graduate, have a promising career and start a family and this is the American dream. Of course going to college will earn you a career and make you financial stable with certain jobs. To earn all those things you need to work even harder to achieve them. Going through four to eight years of college is exhausting and time consuming. There are a lot of stages you go through during college starting from high school. For me I can say that it has been a long journey but it is a well worth journey because of the reward I will receive in the end. In college financial aid, teachers, assignments, and classrooms are different from high school in a major way.
Born with a single tooth, mother used to say I came out smiling, and I guess I never stopped. Smiles, books, and sun were among the things that composed my childhood, the smiles usually resulting from the books and sun. This situation of strictly happy memories of a loving and bookish family, strong Christian education, and a healthy community helped shape me to be the person I am today.
Starting college is an intense and confusing event that plagues all recent high school graduates. It is like trying to run when all you can do is crawl, and for many freshmen, myself included, one can get easily overwhelmed by the daunting task of picking a major when less than two months ago some of our parents still packed our lunches for us every morning. The concept of entering college tends to be frequently skewed and expecting an eighteen year old to decide what they want to do for the rest of their lives, without having them actually experiment in different areas, has the potential to create a generation of adults who are aggravated and depressed in their careers.
I have always considered myself a very promising student. I have worked extremely hard and received high grades. I have a close knit group of friends and my teachers and I have mutual respect for each other .Although I would consider myself at this present stage ‘fulfilled’ something was missing. I realized it wasn’t a materialistic aspect of my life. Through a tragic incident I finally discovered what fit perfectly in that vacancy. The consecutive hospitalizations of my grandparents evoked great pain and sorrow. However, out of the scorching intensity of this tragedy I was warmed and comforted by realizing what I was devoid of: community service.
The experience of the APEC Youth Science festival was incredible. It has had an enormous impact on me in many ways, changing the way I look at the world and connecting me with people and events far beyond my formerly limited experience. I am extremely glad to have had this opportunity. It was a wonderful experience on multiple levels. It challenged me and expanded me intellectually and socially. I feel that this experience has had an immense impact on me.
I’m tired of looking at the next person and wishing I was in their position. I’m tired of making excuses and pitying myself while letting opportunities slip away. From this moment onward, I am throwing away self doubt in order to take the coming steps in my life at Rutgers University. A Rutgers degree would not only mean a top tier education from one of the best schools in the world, more importantly, it would give me stability and a platform to go after my dreams. Through adversity and personal struggle after graduating high school in 2015, I have made an effort to never take opportunity lightly again. As a transfer student, It would be a humbling experience to learn new concepts and ideas while connecting with the diverse student
There is no doubt in my mind that one cannot succeed without failing, people view failure as a halt in progress but i disagree completely. Failure just brings you closer to the goal you are trying to achieve. People often think about how they could have prevented their mistakes and often ask themselves, “What could I have done differently?” Sometimes it’s not worth finding out.
I have always had a passion to learn. My interest is in political theory and economics, hoping someday to become a lawyer and stateswoman. I realize that in order to reach any of these goals, a college degree is vital. When I in turn reach my goals, I will use them to encourage and uplift my community by investing my time, money, energy, and influence to become a stepping stone for others.
Since I am a film and theatre minor I want to learn more about these subjects. I plan on getting involved in any way that I can with the school’s drama and film departments, especially any clubs they offer. More importantly, I want my passions flourishing in the heart of London. I want to experience West End theatre and watch British films. My study abroad is going to expand my knowledge and give me opportunities that I might not get at Salve. What I learn while studying abroad will help me understand my degree more and give me an idea of how I will use it in the future.
Time flies so fast. Looking back, my high school is just like a movie, a lot of things happened. High School is four years of growing up and probably a time in your life where you go through the most changes. In high school you are able to discover yourself and find out who you are as a person. Each year is special and unique in their own way. My journey through high school was a tough one, especially because I decided to not only focus on academic work but also to invest quality time in extra curriculum activities. I wanted more than just academic excellence; I wanted to be a leader, I wanted to add value to every aspect of my life, I wanted a rounded education and not just mere schooling. My success story is what I will like to share with you; how I really made it and how this defines my personality. My journey in High School was scary, exciting, and successful.
