This contextual project work is consisting of 10 concepts from block three. Each concept is described in term of significance to nursing, implementational activity related to the concept, application of the concept to the current job, usefulness of the concept to the current world, summary and conclusion.

Nursing leaders ' responsibility extends to become a voice for the nurses and for offering quality in patient care, not just at their organizations but spanning the whole communities, interacting with law makers in revising regulations and laws, with researchers and educators. Nurse leaders, in particular those at manager and supervisory levels are spread sparsely. They are involved in business planning, human resources, information management and writing reports. It is advisable for them to refocus the leadership on care which matters to patients which is the essence of
Delegation is the being able to pass the responsibility or authority to another person. This act of delegation is important in the outcome of patient care (Yoon,2016). As discussed to be able to have well developed leadership and management skills a good aid of communication has to be developed. In the workplace environment being able to effectively delegate without having appropriate communication skills therefore emotional intelligence the ongoing care of the patient can be threatened and errors can occur. However, being able to effectively do so enable the patient outcomes to be achieved ( Wong,2013). These skills aid in importance as newly graduate nurses receive student nurses to mentor and supervise. Being able to supervise and manage a student nurse contains having a well-developed leadership and management skills ( Jones,2013). The role of a mentor includes assessing and evaluating the students’ performance, providing supervision and having accountability of the students action( royal college of nursing, 2007). This role a graduate nurse must have an area of leadership and management skills. As If these skills aren't developed the student nurse not only will lack mentorship but also the lack of guidance and supervision can impact on the patients care (

Working in the health care setting, teamwork and collaboration are used frequently to insure that everything runs correctly and efficiently. According to qsen.org, teamwork and collaboration consists of functioning effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. While assessing the patient a nurse can come into contact and work with many different individuals. These can include other nurses, doctors, therapists, and family
The nurse manager is responsible to access the environment, plan to change or enhance the environment, implement ways to engage these changes, and then continue to evaluate the situations. This will help to retain nurses in their current positions. The role phase is what is expected of the nurse and the nurse manager to achieve the mutual set of goals. It is a set of behaviors that both the nurse and manager are expected to follow to make goal attainment effective. Role expectations and role performance will increase nurse retention and work to decrease the nursing shortage. If there is conflict in the role phase it will decrease the expected outcomes and may need to be revisited. Stress is how the nurse and nurse manager react to the environment. Some stress is good as it encourages growth and develop improved performance. Coping is how the manager and nurse will deal with the stress to make it a good stress that increases knowledge. This is another way that communication comes into the theory of goal
The World Health Organization (2010) defines interprofessional collaboration in health care as occurring “when multiple health workers from different professional backgrounds provide comprehensive services by working with patients, their families, carers and communities to deliver the highest quality of care across settings” (p. 7) and IPE as occurring “when two or more professions learn about, from and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes” (p. 7). Interprofessional collaboration is contingent on IPE; education promotes collaborative patient-centered care by strengthening communication skills and teamwork. This paper discusses the importance of interprofessional collaboration in healthcare by examining
The focus of this paper is to explore the role of the registered nurse as a leader and manager in the healthcare team. The role of management in nursing affects almost every aspect of the registered nurse’s daily work. An effective manager requires a variety of interpersonal skills that are both learned and intuitive. These skills are of great importance in the management of clients, family, and other healthcare professionals. Management skills are both learned and intuitive, although practice and experience may be one of the most essential ingredients to effective management. This paper explores a few of the essential skills required to be an effective manager.
Collaboration is an effort of multiple members of a healthcare team to achieve a desired outcome. It is partitive that in healthcare the goal of the patient is centered around the patient needs. Here should be open dialogue and shared decision making amongst all members of the healthcare team and the patient (Davis, 2010). Professional boundaries are the intimate nature of nursing and often present challenges as nurse’s share problems and difficulties with patients that can be quite stressful (ANA, 2010). When the nurse finds that professional boundaries are becoming endangered the nurse should seek assistance from peers or supervisors or seek to remove themselves from the situation (Olin,
As defined as a discipline, profession, and area of practice, nursing is based upon the maintenance of a patient’s health and recovery, from mental or physical illness or injury. Nurses aid an individual or individuals sick or well. There are four major principal characteristics that further define nursing care: phenomena that concern nurses, theories for nursing intervention, nursing action taken, evaluation of the effects about phenomena. This research paper will help me to learn more about this perspective field of healthcare. Throughout this research paper, I will discuss their education, duties, work environments, job outlooks, and their pay.
Nurses today need to have excellent communication skills. Receiving information from patients is the most important aspect of nursing. If nurses are unable to communicate with their patient then they would not be able to have a relationship with them. Communication is where two or more people interact with each other, by using sounds and words, this is verbal communication. Some individuals have different behaviors where they try to express themselves to others without using spoken words, this is non verbal communication. Once nurses have the proper communication tools, techniques and evidence based practice, when communicating with their patient, they would get the necessary information needed from the patient to properly diagnosis them.
At the point when the team moves into the "norming" stage, they are starting to work all the more successfully as a team. They are no more centered on their individual objectives, yet rather are centered on building up a method for cooperating. They respect each other's opinions and value their differences. They begin to see the value in those differences on the team.
These characteristics of a nurse manager show how their leadership plays a role in their position in the nursing field. Without this position in the nursing structure, it would be very difficult to produce positive results in providing optimal patient ca...
Patient safety is a continuous priority within nursing; therefore, understanding the concept of distributing patient care is a difficult, yet essential, skill of delegation to maintain the safety of patients. The purpose of this discussion board is to discuss a critical thinking exercise involving delegation responsibilities that encounter job conflicts, providing resolution strategies and communication techniques a. What are the key issues to consider about when to delegate and assign care to this patient? Prior to assigning this patient, there are critical components of delegation that need to be considered.
The nurse manager is a position held within the organization. The nurse manager has the power to make decisions, and has the power over certain situations. Nurse managers have a critical role in managing the provisions of safe, high quality, efficient nursing care. He or she is expected to perform specific duties and perform at a certain standard.
