A code of ethics helps establish the basis for which an organization wants its associates to conduct themselves at all times in their place of business. It should be specific in nature to the organization for which it is designed and implemented as well as suiting the situations that are not covered in day to day operations. The code needs to meet the concerns and expectations of the employees. It also must be directed at everyone from the top of the organization to the lowest level associate, also including elements like the purpose of the organization, the ideals, values and expectations of all who are part of the team, and guide everyone in their decision making process as well as the enforcement of the code along with the penalties for …show more content…

This includes writing the code in a simple language that expresses the values espoused by the company but is not considered legalistic in nature to the point of mirroring commandments. The reason for this is to keep the wording of the code of ethics to promote the ethical values and ideals while tempering the language to reflect less of an oppressive societal viewpoint (Adler, 2009). Most codes of ethics include elements of the following parts; a compliance of laws and regulations that govern normal society, ethical values, standards, and commitments that meet the expectations of the organization, and way to handle any potential disputes of the code (Adler, 2009). Finally, the code should be reviewed and revised on a regular basis by an ethics committee to continually ensure that the policies and procedures explained therein match the complex changes accompanied with an ever-evolving society (Davis, …show more content…

Interactions with fellow employees and the public- a strict code of respect and tolerance will be shown by each associate not only with fellow co-workers but with anyone they may encounter while in the course of executing duties for the organization.
4. Conflicts of Interests- all associates will pay close attention and adhere to the policy of deferral if there is a conflict of interest in any area of both executing their duties for the organization and/or in their personal lives that will interfere with the ethical execution of their duties.
5. Solicitation and personal gratuities- all associates will avoid any conduct that may be construed as solicitation or the acceptance of gifts, rewards, hospitalities and rewards while in the service of the organization.
6. Government and personal interests- all associates should avoid when possible the mention of any and all personal politics as well as affiliations with any political party or groups and apply this same reasoning to the area of any and all personal interest groups that could be viewed as conflicting with their position or the position of all co-workers and affiliates of the
