The Difference between CNN and Fox News The two most popular News stations are CNN and Fox News. CNN and Fox news are the world’s most valuable source of information for presidential debates, political events, and things going on in the world that one should know. More and more viewers are tuning in to these news stations and getting sucked into the biased opinions of the news station. The competition between the two news channels is barbaric. Although, the two news stations show many differences, in the end it comes down to which news station is the most trusted and reliable source. The political views of both Fox and CNN differ. Fox News is known for being a conservative based network when it comes to reporting about politics. The reason is Fox news is the one of the only news stations that offers conservative-based viewpoints, and it will help them gain viewers that are conservative. Known for having a more liberal perspective on politics is CNN. Going …show more content…
Joe Gliniewicz, is the most popular controversial story going on today. Sources say that the tragedy could be a staged suicide. CNN and Fox News both gave their insight on the tragedy. While reading both of the articles one can find the differences between CNN and fox news. Fox news was one sided during the article and only interviewed one person, and stated all of the horrible things about Gliniewicz such as him stealing and laundering money from the Fox Lake Police Explorer’s program. CNN on the other hand interviewed multiples of people to find the facts and hear both sides of the story that includes the good and bad and how this tragedy affected his family. CNN stated how glieniwicz served in the army from 1980- 2007 and received the first rank of first sergeant in the military that earned him the title of being called GI Joe. In result of him staging his suicide a group of people who gave glieniwicz family 15,000$ asked for the money

Blanda explains Fox News, Red State or Slate links only exist to produce content to be shared so friends can agree with each other and those who disagree. “Sharing links that mock a caricature of the other side isn’t signaling that we’re somehow more informed” – Sean Blanda. It shows people would rather show off to their friends how much they’re like them rather than try to understand an opinion different then
The news industry has been known to supply heart wrenching stories from around the world, right to our living rooms. What most people do not know is, how reliable IS Fox news? Considering news is a part of mass media, you would not think any information that makes it on there would be altered in any way- except for length and clarity- but some of the “stories” do get altered, almost to a point where it seems biased and too emotional. The portrayal of information in Fox news relies heavily on ratings, causing them to only display emotional stories and not what should be news worthy.
Although, in recent years it is seen that consumers are less likely to subscribe to newspapers and/or watch the daily news. This is due to the fact that they are typically bias in their opinions, and are seen to lack the whole story when presented. Rise in polarization in the media is due to a new found competition between news networks, which was not present sixty years ago. Wilson says, “the news we get is not only more omnipresent, it is also more competitive and hence often more adversarial”. The media outlets are fighting for views, and are willing to do whatever it takes to get them. Which leads to them configuring the stories to what people want to here. Thus making their viewer ratings higher. It is known that certain news stations get more views depending on the political party. “Those who watch CNN are more likely to be Democrats than Republicans; the reverse is emphatically true of Fox”. The media has more outlets to reach their viewers to maximize the effectiveness of their biased
With every large successful materialistic object or figure in society comes its pros and cons. For the Fox News Channel, these pros and cons include its overall ratings and viewership. For over a number of years Fox News has remained atop of the rating scale in the number one spot, providing the public with the news. People claim it is biased and justly unfair, however, it is that very news that they produce which has made it famous and one of the most well respected news networks to this day.
A good part of Outfoxed focuses on the company's blurring of news and commentary, how anchormen and reporters are encouraged to repeatedly use catch-phrases like "some people say..." as a means of editorializing within a supposedly objective news story; how graphics, speculation and false information are repeated over-and-over throughout the broadcast day until it appears to become fact, and in doing so spreads like a virus and copied on other networks. A PIPA/Knowledge Networks Poll points to glaring, fundamental misconceptions about the news perpetuated upon Fox viewers, versus information received from widely respected news-gathering organizations like NPR and PBS. Asked, for instance, "Has the U.S. found links between Iraq & al-Qaeda?" only 16% of PBS and NPR viewers answered "yes," but a frightening 67% of Fox viewers believed there had.
Many people believe that liberal media bias is very relevant in this day in age, but really it is just a myth. Conservatives, also known as republicans, tend to forget that most of the American media is influenced heavily by corporate business owners(Schaller 49). Topics such as issues of war and peace, taxes and spending, and government regulation are heavily favorable to the conservatives. A study done by Media Matter for America shows that over sixty percent of U.S. daily newspapers publish conservative journalists rather than liberal(Schaller 49). On the other hand, it is obvious that some hot topics in the news are liberally skewed. Topics such as abortion, gay rights, religion, and gun control are pretty much the only things that have a liberal bias. Some journalists may have liberal views, but do not exploit them like conservatives and certainly their views are not as radical(Schaller
Both CNN and Fox News influence these immense populations with how each utilize pathos, ethos and logos in the topics discussed during the broadcasted show. For example, Fox News 's audience seems to be primarily conservative, while CNN’s audience seem to be more liberal (Engel). So each network’s stories “focus on the issues that” conservatives or liberals “want to watch and talk about” (James). These topics are used to develop a more conservative or liberal fan base in the respective news networks. As the dominant news network on cable television, Fox News impacts the greatest quantity of citizens, bringing in an audience of over two million for primetime (James). Therefore, Fox News influences the largest percentage of Americans listening to news networks by effectively using these manipulative literary techniques. However, CNN has a younger audience than Fox News (Carter), which contributes to CNN’s audience growing from 350,000 a night, in 2013 (Agee), to 629,000 viewers a night (James). CNN and Fox News compete with each other to influence the greatest amount of people and the public’s opinion of current events. Each network appeals to pathos, logos and ethos differently and similarly to coax the greatest amount of listeners each night.
Then there are other media sources may say they are not liberal, but they hire liberal reporters and writers to get their news out.

News is all around us and is readily available to everyone. There are many flaws in the system that hurts the authenticity of the news when you see it. The media is indirectly part of the political system. Most news is either considered liberal or conservative by many.
CNN is a television news network that seems to be the most biased one I have seen yet. Almost everything you seen on the headlines on the the gun control section of their website is bashing the NRA (National Riffle Association) in any way possible. They may seem like they are just putting new out there, but they way the diction is worded, makes the entire article, or broadcast seem very sarcastic which allows you to see the bias. Although they may have somewhat of a good reason to do so, as a news channel, you would expect to see all kinds of news and not specifically selected topics that paint certain views into the mind of the uneducated viewer. In this case, CNN is basically saying that we need gun control for sure, and that the NRA is a terrible organization because they oppose giving up our rights to the government. The PBS news channel, seems to be doing what a news channel should do, which is to put out news as is, and unbiased. PBS has a variety of different broadcasts and articles about gun control some that question President Obama’s actions toward the subject and some that support them. There is also coverage on what member of the NRA think compered to those who follow
In recent years, the importance of news broadcasts has increased. More people need to access the news to stay in touch with the rest of the world’s affairs. More TV channels have developed to give viewers more news. Both commercial and government networks are used to present the news to the general public. However, because of the different fundings and target audiences, different networks will focus on different aspects of the news, to make as many people of their target audience watch their particular broadcast. Therefore the separate channels can bring in a far larger audience, and take away another channels audience, therefore reducing competition.

Many studies, dating back to the early 1980s, have concluded that members of the national press are more liberal than the average citizen. Not only is the media more liberal, but they also tend to be more secular. Conservative media outlets have become more visible in recent years. More radio talk shows, such as those hosted by Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, are politically conservative. As well as some of the television reporting broadcast on Fox News, such as on the O’Reilly Factor. Limbaugh and Hannity have large audiences, and Fox News has grown in popularity (WDB
