News is all around us and is readily available to everyone. There are many flaws in the system that hurts the authenticity of the news when you see it. The media is indirectly part of the political system. Most news is either considered liberal or conservative by many.
The media is often considered to be biased. The reason for this is because they do not act neutral on the things that they report on. They usually give their point of view and tend to warp the information so it’s easily digestible by the average person. This type of “nugget feeding,” can influence the judgment of some one who has no idea what is going on. The media tends to sensationalize the news by making it seem dramatic, and compelling. This hooks the viewer, and keeps them tuned in. The purpose of this is for ratings, and most importantly money. The media has become less professional, and their morality has gone down hill. The editors/gatekeepers decide what information is sent out for the public to see, and hear. This is another way that the news is shaped for our viewing pleasure.

Bias is everywhere in the mainstream media whether it is political, celebrity, or worldwide news. Bias can misinform the public and most of the time leaves the whole story to suit their belief. Bias is when someone is presenting information or talking about a topic but being unfair and not showing the whole side of the story. When Donnovan Hill tackled his opponent, he dropped his head down, kept his arm at his side and initiated the tackle head first. This maneuver was executed improperly, which led to a catastrophic spinal cord injury. Unfortunately, due to his spinal cord injury, Donnovan Hill became a quadriplegic. Since football’s inception, it has been considered a manly sport. Young boys have been encouraged by their parents to participate in the game. For many boys, it is considered a rite of passage. However, football is a dangerous sport. A study conducted by the Center for Injury Research and Policy found, “an estimated 5.25 million football-related injuries among children and adolescents between 6 and 17 years of age were treated in U.S. emergency departments between 1990 and 2007. The annual number of football-related injuries increased 27 percent during the 18-year study period, jumping from 274,094 in 1990 to 346,772 in 2007” (Nation 201). These reported injuries include sprains and strains, broken bones, cracked ribs, torn ligaments, and concussions. A concussion usually happens when a player takes a hard hit to the head or is knocked unconscious on the playing field, and if not diagnosed and treated quickly, a concussion can result in death.

This would be a fair statement because there are some public schools that are really good and up-to-date with well trained teachers who want to help kids learn. There are public schools with amazing teachers who know how to teach kids the material, and want them to know the material instead of just giving them the answers to pass the tests. One could also argue that the NCLB act was successful in goal of getting more people to go to school which it was. Another argument would be that we should be thankful for even having free education available to us which is also true. Most other countries do not have the availability or option of free education. For some countries education is free to a point, but high school for them would be optional meaning that they would have to pay for it. So yes in the sense that we are really lucky to have free education all the way up until high school. These would all be valid argument points that are true in some way or
From long practice hours, hot summer workouts, and many Friday nights, my personal observation of this dangerous sport is exceptionally prevalent. My initial experience of the damage that football brings came my eighth grade year when I witnessed a senior football player on my team try and eat a phone on the ride home after receiving a concussion in the third quarter of the game. Which is a prime example to defend the fact that football related injuries to the head result in people not “being all there.” Not only have I seen someone try and eat a phone, but I have also witnessed head injuries resulting in my own friend randomly yelling at me after a game for no reason, and also a friend trying to jump down a full flight of stairs thinking he was starring in a movie. The fast paced, high intensity contact that comes with playing football is nothing to think flippantly of when it plays a role on brain trauma, and the results of brain trauma.

This high energy contact sport can be entertaining and exciting to watch, but has underlying dangers especially for young kids that can be potentially fatal. Kids under the age of fourteen do not need to play tackle football due to the risk of injuries, particularly to the head, that occur when participating in the sport.
Recently, attention has been brought to American football players on the risks of football due to countless concussions and lifelong health problems caused by blows to the head and improper equipment, therefore, the requirements for the equipment should be updated. Not only has the National Football League been found guilty of not realizing it, but the doctors and sports trainers have also. Head trauma early in life can greatly affect you later down the road. Head trauma is nine times out of ten, not curable. Therefore, it is greatly life threatening. Although football is a great pastime sport, it comes with many risks and health issues.

The reason why coaches interfere in football is due to an approximation of sixty two thousand head wounds in high school arising yearly. In this sport, it is extremely challenging because the player's guard and tackle with lack of control. The author states, “Stage one of the disease is either asymptomatic or marked by mild attention lapses” (Solotoraff, par. 4). A competitor who encounters an accidental injury for the first time may not understand they have sustained one.
The biggest accomplishment made by the No Child Left Behind Act was putting a spotlight on the schools who are failing their students and demanding the improve. The Act has embarrassed many of the top schools by illuminating the low rate of success of their minority students. The No Child Left Behind Act is also responsible for the slow but steady progress toward closing the achievement gap between rich and poor and black and white. The law has also worked to increase recruitment efforts in low income areas that have previously experienced inexperienced and untrained teacher walking in and out with its requirement of teachers needing to be fully qualified. The law recognizes for the first time that teachers are inequitably distributed and has done something to fix it. But with these great accomplishments comes a numerous amount of complaints from the students, teachers, and states. Since the creation of the act schools are relentlessly focused on increasing their student’s scores on the yearly assessments to reach its AYP that they are having to narrow their vision of education and are losing subjects. The assessments only hold the schools accountable in the subjects of reading and math and thus those are the two subjects schools put their focus on.
