The point I was considering was if I went to my clinical supervisor and addressed I was having compassion fatigue or burnout there would be measures discussed to alleviate or prevent future occurrences by positive reinforcement toward finding their way. There should be services for the counselor of which the same tools that counselor offers to their client. The focus is to help the counselor rekindle, restore, refresher course, and self-care spiritually guide, encourage, and/ or motivate them through various resource, techniques, and environment change. Even If a counselor chooses to seek counseling elsewhere on their own it can still be optional. To remind them of their chosen profession while showing the same support or referring the counselor if needed. If any dedicated employee lack resource or mission they may establish a sense of not feeling valued, stagnant, endure work pitfalls and over worked even to lose their sense of purpose in/for what they
Clinical Supervision is the life wire of any health are professional. It is the on the job teaching that takes place between the supervisor and supervisee. It is a lifelong learning used for personal and professional development which is useful both in nursing education and clinical practice. Its benefit cannot be overemphasized as it is known to improve job satisfaction and prevention of stress /burnout. Supervision is important because it allows the novice to gain knowledge, skill and commitment.
The trainee in this scenario shared less information about her professional as well as personal life. Which indicates that the supervision was not effective enough to deal with issues of supervisee. So it can be said that some part of this session went well, and some part didn't reach the objectives. With the support of Gibbs reflective model (Gibbs, 1988), I would like to focus on these points and try to comment on them. During the supervision session, first I tried making the trainee comfortable, then tried to enquire her problems. After that I focused more on the major issue, that was case history taking. I tried asking her by all possible ways about the mistake she is committing. Initially, I felt that maybe she is not ready to accept the fact and taking this question as a criticism. But then she stated that she is not aware of her mistake because nobody pointed it out before.

Compassion fatigue is defined as “The emotional residue or strains of exposure to working with those suffering from the consequences of traumatic events” (The American Institute of Stress, n.d.). Compassion fatigue occurs when healthcare workers, especially those who work with patients one-on-one daily, feel the emotional stress of their jobs starting to wear on them. For example, a person who works with a cancer patient and watches that patient worsen and finally pass away, may experience great emotional pain. Dealing with stressful situations over time could also cause compassion fatigue. One way to prevent compassion fatigue is through implementation of Schwartz rounds. “Schwartz rounds are not 'problem solving'. Instead, the focus is on the emotional experiences of staff caring for patients and they allow staff to explore, in an environment that is safe and confidential, situations that confront them.” (Thompson, A.
