"The brain is wider than the sky." Emily Dickinson isn't a psychologist and she lived well before the science of the brain even existed, but her quote rings true. Knowledge of the brain is constantly expanding. The information being gathered can be used in a variety of ways, including when clinical psychologists assess a patient. A career in clinical psychology would allow one to achieve their goals of earning an exceptional education, receiving a supportive salary, and helping the people in a community.

One general requirement is a bachelor's degree in the field you desire (Pursuing). Almost every psychologist has either a PhD in Psychology, which mainly deals with the research aspect, or a PsyD, which is primarily used for a clinical position (Clinical Psychology). Before competing for admission into a graduate psychology program, one is typically required to have an undergraduate major in psychology (Career). An internship as well as attaining a doctorate will take six to eight years to complete (Clinical Psychologist). Though the education and training is extensive, Melissa Grinslade, a psychologist at a university, says it is "totally worth it." If you are interested in understanding human behavior and enjoy working with people, a career as a clinical psychologist would be fitting. Since everyone's needs are different, there is a lot of opportunity for someone interested in psychology to be different and unique (Clinical Psychology). This is a benefit for many, because a career where everyone and everything is the same is generally not desirable. There is a large potential for self-employment given the right circumstances, and this fact alone draws many people to starting their own practice
