to breathe underwater. That is where technology comes in. Technology such as submarines, diving suits, and others, have let us explore the deep ocean without being harmed. Submarines hold a large number of people and oxygen to let us stay down in the water and keeps us from being crushed by the immense water pressure. Diving suits let us swim in the ocean without worrying about coming up for air all of the time. Without this technology, we could not have explored the ocean as much as we have. In “Robots in the Workplace”, we read about how robots are doing work in factories and other workplaces. Companies are buying robots because unlike humans, robots don’t need to rest, eat, or drink. They also do most of their jobs perfectly. On top of that, companies don’t have to pay robots for their work. If robots are doing jobs better and faster than humans, that would mean robots would completely replace humans. There would be no big companies that would hire a human over a robot.

The novel, Alone Together: Why We Expect More From Technology and Less From Each Other (2011) written by Sherry Turkle, presents many controversial views, and demonstrating numerous examples of how technology is replacing complex pieces and relationships in our life. Hauling net after net of consumable fish, the oceans are being damaged as society continues to harvest uncontrolled.
