Class Reflection: A New Way Of Movement

This class is one I thoroughly enjoy. With our use of the skeleton, by movement, and by videos, I can say I have learned quite a bit on movement. I’ve learned safe and healthy ways of movement which reflecting on it I wasn’t aware of before. You keep a very light and open attitude to learning, and you keep a nice pace for the class. I like how the learning is fun and if we’re not getting something you come up with a new way of trying it out. Throughout this course I have learned new body pathways, which are easier on my body. After practicing our landing pads for a whole class, I started to notice my muscles were remembering them subconsuoiusly. My friend has an attic which you have to crawl through to enter and usually that can hurt my knees. The class helped me because I started to use my landing pads and could move quicker and with no pain. Even when you change things up I like it a lot when no one talks and we just watch then do. Sometimes I think everyone, including myself, asks questions that could be figured out through doing it. I also love when all vocal and sharing ideas were yet, the silence helps me get into the activity and be in the zone. I think it’s cool that you usually don’t tell us to not talk it just happens because everyone is into the activity. One thing I found helpful was actually through the videos we watched online. They completely opened my mind up to just movement and new ways of movement. Some of the videos used props or not but created pathways and dynamics that we don’t see through day to day movement. Sometimes I just dance around for fun and it’s awesome to create new pieces or have ideas that I saw from class or over the videos we watch.
