Even though Mr. Boone showed his love and commitment to Christopher, he definitely had his imperfections. Mr. Boone is not the best of all dads. Mr. Boone consistently curses around and at Christopher, not being a good role model to his child. He calls Christopher stupid, an idiot and a lot of more inappropriate words. "Then he said, 'Holy fucking Jesus Christopher. How stupid are you?'"(81) Mr. Boone's choices of words could make Christopher feel that he is actually stupid, that he can not do anything, it could make him extremely disappointed in himself that he is this way. Not only does Mr. Boone curse a lot around Christopher, he is also very abusive. When Christopher did not do what Mr. Boone told him to, it irritated Mr. Boone significantly resulting him to physically abuse Christopher. This is shown in the text where Christopher wrote: I had not memories for a short while. I know it was a short while because I checked my watch afterward. It was like someone had switched me off then switched me on again I was sitting on the carpet with my back against the wall and there was blood on my right hand and the side of my head was hurting. (83) Mr. Boone beat Christopher, resulting him to spill blood on his right hand, and causing him not to think the way he usually does. Mr. Boone is dishonest to Christopher. He lied to his son about many things. "He waited for a very long time, then he said, 'Your mother has had to go into the hospital." On the contrary, Christopher's mother, Mrs. Boone was not actually in the hospital. "Father said that she died of a heart attack and it wasn't expected." Christopher's mother didn't die of a heart attack, nor did she even die. Christopher's mother was living in London with Mr. Boone, and Christopher had no idea that his mother was still alive, living in another area. Mr. Boone kept this secret away from Christopher, until he discovered that there was mail awaiting for him, hidden in a cupboard. This mail was for Christopher from his mother, stating that she is alive and she misses him very much. Although Mr. Boone made his mistakes, he still never gives up on his son, loving and caring for him very much. "There are times as a parent when you realize that your job is not to be the best parent you always imagined you'd be, the parent you always wished you had.
Your job is to be the parent your child needs, given the particulars of his or her own life and nature." (Ayelet Waldman) Despite Mr. Boone's imperfections, he really loves, and shows his commitment to Christopher. Mr. Boone changes the way he takes care of his child, since Christopher was born with autism. An autistic child can do some things others can not do, and an autistic child cannot do some things others can do. Christopher cannot eat the food on this plate if different foods are touching each other, Christopher does not want to be touched, he cannot touch the color brown. Mr. Boone has to adjust his parenting on order to suit Christopher's needs. "I held up my left hand and spread my fingers out in a fan and we made our fingers and thumbs touch each other. We do this because sometimes Father wants to give me a hug, but I do not like hugging people so we do this instead, and it means he loves me."(16) Mr. Boone takes care of Christopher everyday, he knows what Christopher doesn't want in his daily lifestyle, unlike Mrs. Boone who abandoned him since he was too hard to handle. When Mr. Boone told Christopher about his mother's death, it was all a lie. Mr. Boone lied to protect Christopher; he thought it would be better if Christopher to know when he is older. This could be that Mr. Boone wanted Christopher to focus in school to become successful, and to prevent Christopher to look for his
mother. Mr. Boone is very committed to Christopher unlike Mrs. Boone who left him. When Mr. Boone made a mistake and lied to Christopher about his mother's death, and telling Christopher he killed the dog, Christopher took off to his mother's house in London, thinking that home is not safe anymore, Mr. Boone drove all the way to London, to look for his son and to apologize about his mistakes. Mr. Boone didn't give up on Christopher, he was very committed and wanted to get Christopher back home. "And he said, 'Christopher, I'm really, really sorry. About everything. About Wellington. About the letters. About making you run away. I never meant.. I promise I will never do anything like that again. Hey. Come one, Kiddo.'"(197) Mr. Boone was sincerely sorry and he wanted Christopher to feel happy and earn his trust back. But Christopher did not reply to what he said. "And Father sad, 'Shit Christopher, please.' And there were tears dripping off his face."(197) Mr. Boone loved Christopher very much and never wanted to lose Christopher. The tears on his face showed that he really wanted Christopher's trust back. It showed he loved Christopher and is really committed to him. Mr. Boone's love for Christopher and his commitment for him changed his growth and help him achieve his goals. Most parents want their child to grow and to achieve many goals throughout their lifetime. From the start of the book, Christopher develops and accomplishes his goals.Mr. Boone, and Mrs. Boone played a great role of Christopher's development. Since the beginning, Mr. Boone helped him every single day, changing his growth in size and as a teenager. Dissimilar to Mrs. Boone, she left Christopher resulting him to live, achieve and grow without a mother for a while. "And he said, 'I killed Wellington, Christopher.'"(120) This was when Christopher achieved his goal of solving the mystery of who killed Wellington. Mr. Boone helped Christopher of solving the mystery by telling him who killed Wellington.

“The Short Bus: A Journey Beyond Normal” by Jonathan Mooney is the story of his journey around the U.S. in short bus nonetheless to meet with different children and their families who have faced challenges in school due to ADD, ADHD, Autism, and other learning disabilities. Jonathan Mooney himself faced the disability of Dyslexia and often had to deal with many challenges in school himself, but he appears to be one of the more fortunate ones, who was able to grow from his disability and ultimately get a degree in English. Needless to say, his book and journey lead the reader to question what really is “normal”, and how the views of this have caused the odds to be stacked against those who don’t fit the mold. Throughout, this story, for me personally however, this story gave several events that I found moving, and had the potential to influence my further work in education.

This book was a great read. The heartwarming tale of two young children who manage to overcome the disability under the category of autism. The author, the mother of these two children, uses her language to make the reader feel connected with the struggles of the family and the elated feeling when the children are deemed functioning within normal levels. This book gives insight on several different therapies, some that seemed helpful and others that seemed silly. It touches on the subject of inclusion as well. This book allows individuals to relate to those who have children with autism and gives parents of children with autism hope that their child's disability is not a permanent one.

A Comparison between Christopher Boone and Raymond Babbitt Asperger s disorder is not a disease, but a developmental brain disorder. It is four times more prevalent in boys than in girls and it shows no racial, ethnic or social boundaries. Family income, lifestyle and educational levels do not affect the chance of Asperger s disorder occurrence. According to Hans Asperger: It is important to know that the person with AS perceives the world differently. Therefore, many behaviours that seem odd are due to neurological differences and not the result of intentional rudeness or bad behaviour.
The book begins as a mystery novel with a goal of finding the killer of the neighbor's dog, Wellington. The mystery of the dog is solved mid-way through the book, and the story shifts towards the Boone family. We learn through a series of events that Christopher has been lied to the past two years of his life. Christopher's father told him that his mother had died in the hospital. In reality she moved to London to start a new life because she was unable to handle her demanding child. With this discovery, Christopher's world of absolutes is turned upside-down and his faith in his father is destroyed. Every individual's mind functions in a different and unique way. We all have idiosyncratic behaviours and functions. These distinctive characteristics are what make us who we are. But not all neurological differences help us in our day -to-day lives. Every individual also possess some psychological defects. These issues are clearly portrayed in the novel, The curious incident of the dog in the night-time by Mark Haddon. In this story the protagonist is an autistic boy who faces many challenges in his life. Both his parents also face some complications in coping up with their son. Therefore the central theme in the novel, the curious incident of the dog in the night-time, delineated by Christopher (the autistic boy), the father, and the mother, is that everyone has psychological problems that they need to overcome.
How far would a parent go to ensure the comfort of their child? What if the child had a mental disability? Children with autism can be difficult to deal with and it can be easy to misconstrue a parent’s intentions toward their disabled child. According to Petra Kuppers’s essay “Dancing Autism: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime and Bedlam,” an autistic child has a, “distanced view of the rules that make up love, relationships, need, and care,” and therefore can be more challenging to raise (Kuppers 193). Christopher is one such example of an autistic child. In Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Christopher’s father is portrayed in a negative light, but actually proves himself to be an outstanding father.
The parent’s home life will be completely changed and will be different for the rest of your life. You might have to buy new things for your child to either help them or so they stay safe. For example learning utensils, some people with autism use special scissors, pencils, and mice for the computer to make things easier. Not only will the parents have to buy things but you and your spouse might act differently towards each other. The couple will not be able to have alone time, go on vacation, or have a date night. Finding a babysitter while you go out and do those things is nearly impossible because they are not qualified to do that. So staying at home all the time might put pressure on your marriage.

A story of a young boy on a mission to find out who killed his neighbor's dog, but while on the journey he reveals secrets about his family that was kept from him all these years. Every day after summer tennis, I would always read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, by Mark Haddon, in our cozy house sitting in my bowl shaped blue chair in my bedroom. I always read there because of my fan and there were no distractions like noise and electronics just tennis posters. Since the suspense of the story caught my attention, the time went by very quickly when I read. My parents would come home to prepare a dinner for my brothers and me. No matter what they were cooking, I would always be able to smell it from my room.
For my final project, I am proposing a critical project that questions the inability for like minded individuals who share common mental disabilities to communicate and understand with those who are the opposite. The outside correlation stems the question of “how does the inability to communicate, within the community of mental diverse individuals towards those without disabilities, cause a major complication that is supported within this novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. This question stemmed from the faults that the main character, Christopher, has throughout the novel. Christopher has Asperger’s syndrome which is a form of autism that causes him to express himself in a straightforward way while making it difficult
