Christianity Vs. Mormonism
I am a Christian. I have always wondered and been curious about other religions, especially Mormonism, scince they also call themselves "Christians". If you just stop and think for a minute and see that there are more are about 33% Christians (Banks), and about 15,000,000 people who are Mormon around the world ("Facts"). That is a lot of people that are Christian and Mormon or maybe they just talk the talk and don't walk the walk. Wouldn't you want to know more about these two religions and why so many people are involved with them? Mitt Romney was running for President a couple of years ago, and he was even Mormon! It is all very interesting to learn more about these religions. There is a ton of controversy between Mormonism and Christianity. Some questions are... Who is Joseph Smith? How did Mormonism and Christianity start? How is God real? Are all the stories in the Bible true? And many more. Some say Christianity and Mormonism is a cult, but with the Book of Mormon, and the Holy Bible, the truth can be revealed.
What is Christianity? Christianity started in the mid- 1st century. The religion is based on Jesus Christ. Jesus was in many stories of the Bible. One of them is that Jesus was the Son of God and was placed by God, onto this earth as a man. He was sent by God to die for our sins, so we can be free, forgiven, and have eternal life. Once Jesus died for our sins He was resurrected three days later, and then ascended to heaven ("Christianity"). "He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification" (New International Version, Romans 4:25). There are tons of people around the world that ask: What happens when we die? According to Christianity, si...

...lts? Or maybe none. There is evidence around the world to prove some of the things in the Bible and Book of Mormon true, but we do not really know everything. It like most things in life. For example, we see Taylor Swift and some people say that she is the best singer and some don't. In the end it's all your opinion. And yes there are a bunch of people out there that follow these religions (like myself), and it comes to show that if that many people believe this, then it is probably true. Really all it comes down to is having faith, trusting, and believing what you want to believe. Mahatma Gandhi says, "To believe in something, and not to live it, is dishonest." Life is a sum of your choices, do whatever makes you happy and enjoy life! I myself am a Christian and have a relationship with Jesus. I am faithful to God, and I am too enjoying my life each and every day.

Utah and the Mormon Culture In 1820, Joseph Smith had a vision in Palmyra, New York, of God and his son, Jesus Christ telling him to reorganize the church of Jesus Christ. During the next 10 years, Joseph was visited by other heavenly messengers, translated the Book of Mormon and established the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. Many years thereafter, the Mormons relocated from Nauvoo, Illinois because of religious persecution (PBS Online). In Illinois, Joseph Smith had succeeded in establishing a religion which brought together its followers both sociologically and economically.
All things considered, the Mormon faith is very different from Catholicism. Our doctrines, teachings, and traditions are very contrary to each other. It is a thriving religion in the United States, (number 4 in membership). The faith has been around for nearly 200 years, and it continues to grow.
The Mormon population holds true to their unique religious beliefs. Most Mormons are similar to those who practice Christianity, however there are some differences. Over the past two centuries that Mormonism has been founded by Joseph Smith, this faith has expanded across the United States. Even though the faith has been powerful to many believers it is becoming less frequently practiced. This religion not only practices God and Jesus as separate people but also believes that God is seen in everyone. Since, Mormons are very religious and godlike we have to be competent to these differences when working with this population. There is very little information about how to perform Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a child that is practicing
Religion has always been a sensitive topic to discuss with others of different faiths, because not everyone agrees with what is practiced and some just believe religion is pointless all together. In fact, there are two religions that are frequently seen at war with one another, constantly trying to prove their religion to be more correct. The captivating part about it is they are the two religions that are the most complimentary, but viewed as the most different, and that is Mormonism and Christianity. Although they may seem different for those that follow these faiths, there are actually quite a few more similarities than most individuals realize.
Before one can even begin to understand the cause of an increased following of Mormonism in the United States and whether the religion was successful or unsuccessful, one must understand the ideas on which the religion is based. There are thirteen articles of Mormonism. First, all Mormons put their trust in God, His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. Second, men and women will be punished for their sins. Third, mankind will be saved if it is obedient to the law and ordinances of the Gospel. Fourth, the most important tenets of Mormonism are faith in Jesus, repentance for sins, baptism and laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. Fifth, only when God calls on a man can he preach the Gospel and administer the ordinances. Sixth, the organization...
Christianity is mainly founded on the life, death, teachings, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christianity was developed from Judaism during the 1st century, it has several different branches and forms which accompany different beliefs and practices. Christianity
The Mormon faith can be divided into two orthodoxies that make up the religion. These orthodoxies can be described as traditional and particularistic, traditional coinciding with the same characteristics that divide Christianity and particularistic being relative to only Mormonism. Examples of traditional orthodoxy are aspects such as: believing in life after death, that God and Jesus exist and are divine, Satan is real, the Bible is the word of God etc. Particularistic orthodoxy branches off from this in that it adds new rules upon the already existing orthodoxy, things such as the Book of Mormon is further expansion of the word of God, the president of the Mormon church is a prophet of God, and that the church of the Latter Day Saints is the only true church on earth. These are staples to the Mormon faith. Mormons are passionate about their faith and believe that spiritual commitment will
Worldview expression is the quintessential way to elucidate what is going on within us, as well as the agency which telegraphs our cognitive claims and operative beliefs back to the world. That is, what we speak and do, reveals the lens upon which we view the world around us. From a personal application standpoint, theism, the worldview lens by which I base my decisions and actions, encompasses and influences several realities, namely, when it concerns verity with regard to what I believe and why I trust it, and how it affects my actions within a circadian cyclical system. Indeed, a Christian theistic worldview has been an instigator of change in my life, and answers the why and how of who we are and where we are going.
I am what you would typically think of as a progressive urban liberal. I was raised however in rural Idaho, in the heart of the Mormon-belt. Some would argue that my home town was not that rural. Pocatello is a town of that when I was growing up had about 45,000 people, over 75% of whom were Mormon. As I started to explore my sexual orientation it quickly became an issue in the town. I was kicked out of the church, kicked-out of my family’s home, I was able to get a graveyard job, rent a small room and continue in school. However, several community members were still having no part of this, the radio station was threatened with child-labor law-suit because I was working the overnight shift at 16. I lost that job, ended up dropping out of school so that I could get a job, which again did not last long before I was let go and no-one in the town would hire me. Left with limited options I packed up and headed for the west coast.
The bible is an account of God’s interaction with men over 4,000 years and the Book of Mormon is a continuance of the Bible. Both offer guidance and answers believers are seeking through the study of these books and prayer. It is believed that everything that is needed to be learned to living a life that will lead you to God is contained in these writings.
There are many religions in the world today, however if you’re not apart of those religions, you most likely don’t know about it that much. Two religions in particular, Christianity and Hinduism, have come into the world differently in many ways. They also have certain beliefs and customs. Lastly they both have made an impact on the world.
I can say with out a doubt in my mind, that the Book of Mormon is true, that the Church of Jesus Christ is the Lords church. That I am blessed because I know these truths. I also feel the love of God as I serve faithfully here in
All religions differ in one way or another, but one of the biggest distinguishers for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is our core belief in the Godhead. This core belief, while not included in the Genesis account of the Creation, can be seen in Moses 2:1: “I am the Beginning and the End, the Almighty God; by mine Only Begotten I created these things; yea, in the beginning I created the heaven, and the earth…” Immediately we can see that Heavenly Father referred to His Son as the creator of the heaven and the earth, and it was only under the direction of the Father that it occurred.
