Many people are indifferent when it comes to the topic of endangered sea animals, who are being affected by the trash that human beings throw around to their convenience. The limited education on this problem that most people are receiving is worsening the issue, as more and more trash is being dumped into the world’s oceans. The oceans have just become another landfill, being added to the the collection of destruction of environment that humans have created around them. A Beijing based ad designer named Christian Waters, holds this concern for the wildlife and for our environment. By choosing the sea turtle to be the main subject out of all marine wildlife, Waters appeals to a greater audience. Sea turtles are one of the most popular and loved creatures out of all marine wildlife, and by using them, Water can get his message across to a larger audience. Waters himself has chosen the sea turtle to be the representation of the marine wildlife. In addition, Waters especially selected the sea turtle to be a subject of his photo him because it stimulates his memory of a recently watched video: two researchers using pliers to pull out a straw stuck in the sea turtle’s nostrils, which start to pour out blood in the process. Waters lures his audience to not only sympathize with the situation of the marine wildlife but to take the action of cleaning up after ourselves and thereby keeping the world’s beaches clean. Through his pictures, Waters seeks to educate people about the waste and sewage being dumped into the ocean. Waters wishes to encourage for people to make this issue a priority and put an end to it.
