Does temperature affect how wide a chocolate chip cookie gets? If temperature affects how a chocolate chip cookie is baked, then temperature will affect how wide the cookie grows in width. The procedures for the experiment were; Warm up the oven to the desired temperatures. Prepare the chocolate chip cookie dough into about 3 sections of 28 grams, while the oven is heating up. Place the cookie dough onto the pan and put into the oven once the oven is heated up. Leave the cookies in the oven to cook for about 15 minutes. Take the cookies out when done and leave out to cool for 2 minutes. Remove cookies from the pan and place the batch on a flat surface. Take a ruler and measure the width of the cookie. Convert the inches to centimeters. Record …show more content…
Three trials called for three cookies to be baked. The experiment was tested out using three trials, enough information was collected to determine whether or not the hypothesis was accepted or rejected. In all the trials, three cookies were baked at different temperatures and measured using a ruler. In the first trial, the cookie baked at 320 degrees was measured to 9.2 cm (3.7 in), the cookie baked at 335 degrees was measured to 10.2 cm (4 in), the cookie baked at 350 degrees was measured to 8 cm (3.1 in). In the second trial, the cookie baked at 320 degrees was measured to 8 cm, the cookie baked at 335 degrees was measured to 10.2 cm, and the cookie baked at 350 degrees was measured to 10.2 cm. Finally, in the third and last trial, the cookie baked at 320 degrees was measured to 9.4 cm, the cookie baked at 335 degrees was measured to 8.9 cm, and the cookie baked at 350 was measured to 9.7 cm. Overall, the average for the first trial was 9.2 cm, the average for the second trial was 9.7 cm, and the average for the last trial was 9.3 cm. Some patterns that are seen in the data are that the widths of some of the cookies are the same. There really isn’t a difference between the numbers
Step5: Use a lager cookie cutter to cut the dough and place them on the cookie sheet
The purpose of this experiment was to identify which brand of mint gum holds its flavor the longest. The four brands I chose were Orbit, Trident, Ice Breakers, and Wrigley's Doublemint My hypothesis was that Trident brand would last the longest and Wrigley's Doublemint would last the shortest. I did not use any people in my test. I chewed the same amount of gum at a time and the gum was all the same flavor, mint. All the gum was bought at the same time from the same store. I chewed the four brands of gums between periods of time. When chewing, I timed myself with a stopwatch. When I believed the gum ran out of flavor, I stopped the timmer and recorded the time. My hypothesis was incorrect. Instead of Trident, Orbit lasted the longest. However
Every girl struggles with self-image and weight. Models Don’t Eat Chocolate Cookies by Erin Dionne is a story about a junior high girl who learns that everyone is beautiful and unique in their own way. Models Don’t Eat Chocolate Cookies is a great book to read because of its teen settings, relatable characters, and truthful plot.
Madelyn McQueen - Twin Falls Idaho Have you ever wondered how the delicious, classic treat came to be? Well, any event you can think of after the date of 1938, the cookie was bound to be there. Several stories about how the country’s favorite baked good came to be, have been spread and believed by thousands. For example, Ruth Wakefield unexpectedly ran out of nuts for a regular ice-cream cookie recipe and, in desperation, replaced them with chunks chopped out of a bar of Nestle bittersweet chocolate. Another story is said that the vibrations from an industrial mixer caused chocolate stored on a shelf in the Toll House kitchen to fall into a bowl of cookie dough as it was being mixed. Sadly, all of these stories are false, says Carolyn Wyman in her recently published “Great American Chocolate Chip Cookie Book.” In her book, Wyman offers a more believable version of how the cookie came to be. Wyman argues, that Ruth Wakefield, who had a degree in household arts and a reputation for perfectionism, would not have allowed her restaurant, which was famed for its desserts, to run out of such
Possible sources of error in this experiment include the inaccuracy of measurements, as correct measurements are vital for the experiment.
to the marble chips. I will have 30 ml of mixture and split it in to
After reading both articles, the “cookie monster” article lacks essential information need for the research. For a research to be experimental there are certain variables that needs to be taken into consideration before arriving at a conclusion. Necessary information needed to understand the experimental ...
In our lab today we separated into five different groups to prepare similar recipes of peanut brittle and fudge. Each lab prepared peanut brittle and fudge using different recipes provided in each lab. Before we began we discussed how we were to calibrate our candy thermometers and perform the cold water test. After our discussion, we began work on our tests and our recipes. Being in group three, I began with the calibration test, placing cool water into a pot and slowly bringing it to a boil.
· Full experimental details including control of the experimental variables, and number of replicates. · Risk assessment (scalds, cuts, electrocution, slipping, mercury in thermometers). · A table for the collection of raw results. · An outline of how the results will be processed (table 2 and graph) to determine whether the hypothesis should be accepted or rejected and an assessment of error (range, standard error or semi-interquartile range). A statistical test could be used, e.g. Mann-Whitney ‘u’ test to compare the significance of a difference between two groups of data (p = 0.05).
In order for a set of data to be accurate, there needs to be another set of data from prior researchers that was concluded to be the only correct rate at which a birthday candle burns. Also, the data from this experiment cannot be identified as being precise, because if this experiment were to be repeated, due to the experimental error, the results would not be exact from the first time the experiment was performed. The first most important step of the procedure for data collection is the time that was recorded after lighting the candle. The time was important, because time was a factor in determining the answer to the experimental question, which was the rate at which the candle burns. Recording the time accurately is significant to the final results, because if the time was not recorded in this experiment, it would be impossible to answer the experimental question. The second step that contributed to data collection was the massing of the candle. If it wasn’t done properly, the rate of the burning candle would have been slightly off. These two steps were the most important in gathering the data, because the time and the mass were both needed in order to calculate the

Hopefully, you will have some of these mouthwatering cookies left for Santa, that is if you feel like sharing them! To make sure the process goes smoothly, make sure that you gather every ingredient and any other tools needed that are listed above. Next, you need to mix your ingredients together as directed and let your dough sit for no less than 4 hours. The longer you let it cool, the better the results. Finally, once you have baked your cookies and allowed them to cool you can decorate them to your liking. However, decorating is optional. Most likely, you will be too busy eating these yummy cookies to care about the decorations. I hope you enjoy this recipe and happy
Learning how to measure each ingredient correctly, can be challenging, but there are many different tips and tricks my Grammy taught me to use so that each cookie comes out perfectly. In baking, it is easier to mix the wet and dry ingredients separately, to be sure there are no lumps in the dough. For instance, when you are preparing the wet ingredients, you must first make sure the butter and eggs are at room temperature so that it will mix evenly and smoothly with the other ingredients. Another tip I learned is that when you are measuring the dry ingredients, such as flour, you must make sure you are not packing the flour into the measuring cup. If you do pack down the flour, you will have too much flour in your cookies and they will not rise as they should.
This experiment was preformed in order to figure out which of four different samples of bread containing three different variables grew the most amount of bread over a one-week period.
