Chocolate Business Introduction I am going to set up a business selling chocolate. My shop is going to be a small chocolate shop which sells there of hand crafted specialist chocolate. The chocolate will be made in the back of the shop. It will be situated in York. My two main objectives will be survival and profit maximisation. These two aims are linked because in the long term survival is not possible without your total revenue being bigger that your total cost. Layout of Coursework The aim of my coursework is to: Firstly undertake market research: such as, primary and secondary research Ÿ Primary research: visit companies and send out questionnaires. Ÿ Secondary research: research from Mintel/Keynotes. In the second part of my coursework I will be creating a promotional plan. In the third part of my coursework I will look at the social costs and social benefits of my business, and also how the law/legislation will impact on my business. Finally, I will draw together everything, with a conclusion. Action Plan =========== [IMAGE] Market Research Thorntons Thorntons main aims and objectives are profit maximisation. Thorntons manufacture and also retail chocolates, toffee, ice cream and other confectioneries of a high quality. Also, as well as selling there own products they sell own-label products made by companies such as Marks and Spencers. Thorntons in York is situated in Coppergate. I think the choice of this location is good because it is near a large car park where shoppers will park and it is also in the centre of a large variety of popular shops. ... ... middle of paper ... ... chocolate. It is going to be situated in Leeds city centre. It is going to be located near to the corn exchange this is because there are very popular shops located near here so there should be a lot of interest. I have decided to use posters and the Internet to advertise my business this is because most people have a computer and the Internet and use it regularly and posters are seen by many people and have a very big impact so these two combined should have the biggest impact on the community. I have also noticed that most of the money made from chocolate is made from special events such as Christmas Easter Birthdays and such so I am also going to specialise in that area of chocolate. While Europe and the United States account for most chocolate consumption, the confection is growing in popularity in Asia and market forecasts are optimistic about the prospects in China and India (Nieburg, 2013, para 9). According to the CNN Freedom Project, the chocolate industry rakes in $83 billion a year, surpassing the Gross Domestic Product of over a hundred nations (“Who consumes the most chocolate,” 2012, para 3). If chocolate continues grow popular in Asia, it stands to become even more lucrative.
Dickens uses verbal irony in his description of the Monseigneur’s chocolate ritual by showing that he must have four men prepare his hot chocolate. If only three men to prepare his hot chocolate it is difficult for him to swallow it. “Yes. It took four men, all four a-blaze with gorgeous decoration”(108). This quote shows how Monseigneur needs specifically four men because each man has one job it has to do like give Monseigneur a napkin, “presented the favoured napkin”(108). “Monseigneur could swallow many things with ease, and was by some few sullen minds supposed to rather be rapidly swallowing France” (108). Dickens uses irony to show the ridiculous situation of the ritual to how France is being destroyed. He uses this to show the contrast as a lord to a servant.

Claire’s Chocolates does not advertise, relying on word of mouth. Their promotional methods, therefore, are based on quality customer service, building customer relationships, high quality products and service delivery (Gronroos, 1994, 4). This creates the experience that makes customers want to talk about their product and this, therefore, creates new customers.
This essay will look at defining what social policy is and give a brief overview of the selected policy. Examining the need for the policy, statistical evidence supporting this. Then the pressure groups lobbying and who may have been influential in policy development.
Consumers are now watching what they eat, and want to avoid products that contain ingredients that have become deemed as fattening.
Charles Chocolate’s sales revenue decreased -1.176% between the years 2010 and 2011. The equation that as used to get that was Revenue Growth= 100 × (Current Value-Prior Value/Prior Value) 100 × (11,850,480-11,991,558/11,991,558). The change in the sales revenue could have happened for very many reasons. Being a premium chocolate making company, their product may not have been very high in demand. Also forecasting the demand for their product was not a very easy thing to do either. Another issue that Charles Chocolate’s faced their competitors, such as Godiva and Lindt, are more of a well known brand then they are.
Some go right for the shopping carts, while others head for the ATM machine only to discover the posted sign “out of service” those customers head straight to the door maybe to find another ATM machine while the other customers head straight for customer service to return purchases and to pay bills, but before they can return their purchases those customers have to join very long line with only two employees at the cash register with a line that is hardly moving. Further down following the other customer along the aisle you get a quite discovery of just who the customers really are by the choice of product they choose and how long they linger in a specific area whether it is making a decision on what product to buy or a spur of the moment purchase. The most populated area by far that I have o...
Tires squeal across the hot asphalt; exhaust fumes fill the air. Innocent shoppers leap to safety as cars circle the neighborhood grocery store lot in search of the ideal parking spot. Engines revving. Adrenaline rushing. The driver's sole mission is to obtain a white lined rectangle of pavement before entering the race known as shopping. As a safety precaution, competent and considerate shoppers should be aware of the distinct character traits of the three annoying types of shoppers: Hurry Harry, Suburban Sally, and Picky Pete. Knowledge of their parking-lot-to-checkout-stand habits increases the chance of avoiding a head-on collision.
From Child Benefit to GCSEs, GP services to the care of elderly relatives, social policy impacts on our security, development and happiness. However, social policy also touches our lives in more unexpected ways…discipline within families and global economic competitiveness are all matters of social policy.

The Hershey Food Corporation is a very successful and quality business. Many products are manufactured by this corporation. Most relating, but not limited to chocolate. The corporation plays a role in deciding where products are produced. Hershey’s has expanded to both Canada and Mexico, which calls for many corporate decisions. There are an amazing amount of products associated with Hershey. These include Jolly Ranchers, Hershey Kisses, Hershey drink mixes, the entire line of Reese’s products as well as good old fashion chocolate bars. These products serve in the candy/snack foods division of sales. Society could do without them... but why would we want to?
