The teacher has been using district reading series, cooperative grouping for reading activities, using card to follow while reading, cueing before asking questions as well as sticker chart for hand raising and working while in his seat, which has helped.

... Another one of the strategies that I have seen quite often is the disrupting student read-aloud. This has happened to me while teaching many times. I honestly most times thought that these children were causing a ruckus and interrupting because they had behavior issues. Now after reading this section I am much more aware that the instances I have encountered could have been just the child not understanding.

During a test, these students were taken to another classroom area so that the inclusion teacher was able to read the test to them. Self-reading in the inclusion classroom is sometimes avoided as much as possible. The inclusion teacher also stated that there have been tests where the amount of information was lessened to avoid additional frustration being added as they are already struggling with reading the test information. According to the general education teacher, students on occasion are encouraged to read out loud. However, there is more of a push for them to participate in classroom or group discussion. Students that are asked to read aloud are based on their ability. This type of interaction makes for a comfortable learning environment and participation with their peers. All students can learn. It’s just a matter of making materials interesting and relevant to them, challenging them (but not to hard), and supporting them along the way.
The young people of today face many influences in their daily lives. Many of these influences are negative and in opposition to not only Christianity, but society in general. These influences on our youth can lead to many troubling activities, the book “Disturbing Behavior: 53 Alarming Trends of Teens and How to Spot Them” provides insight to many of these.

Ben is an 11-year-old boy who was referred to me by a teacher to assist with his reluctance to attend school. Ben has missed 20 days of school in 2 months and often goes to the nurse’s office and has left school due to feeling “sick”. In these days, the world would become more and more cultural. Since phonics is important step for readers, teachers should focus more on it. This is a way to lead them to success on reading. Teachers are able to know how to improve students’ literacy skill; they should dedicate time to each reading and writing. They cannot focus on only one thing. Every part should be balanced for balanced literacy. They should equally practice for each section. It is very important step to be balanced. They have to incorporate reading, writing, listening, and speaking into activities. They should know how to make students to be active to learn new things. They get easily get bored by doing same activity again and again. It also affects for the adults too. It is important to try new and creative activities to improve their skills. Once they incorporate them into activities, they must make students to be actively involved into the lessons to improve their skills. Teacher’s role is important to the students because their skills can be enhanced or dropped depend on teachers’ role. It is hard job for them, but they should lead the students. There are some complexes for balanced literacy, but teachers are able to handle these problems. There are many things to make even. During my time observing in the special education room I got to see a read aloud where the teacher attempted to get all the students engaged in the lesson, to the best of their ability. The teacher would ask questions after reading each page, and had the students turn the page and make connections to the text. There were four students in the classroom at the time, and they were corrected if any errors were made during the reading, and they were encouraged to participate (to the best of their abilities.)
