“There are almost 180 million cell phone users and it is rapidly expanding” (Betancourt). Nearly every student in the United States owns a cell phone. Cell phones have been around for forty years. The first cell phone was placed by Martin Cooper in 1973. Cell phones become increasingly popular as the twenty-first century technology becomes more advance. People in younger generation rely on cell phone to accomplish basic needs. Some even becomes addictive to the cell phone. For example, I have a cousin who considers cell phone as an important part of her daily life. If I ask her to put away her cell phone, she would complain “I can’t live without my cell phone.” Cell phone should be prevented from using excessively because if cell phone is used in an improper way, it would ultimately becomes a distraction device for students. Therefore, students would be lack in interpersonal relationship, distracted during class, which can lead to academic failure, and distracted while driving, which can lead to serious accident and death. The negative impacts of cell phone on students are significant matters that need to be addressed. Overuse of cell phone placed students’ interpersonal relationship in jeopardy. For example, a family gather to have dinner together for the arrival of their daughter from college break. They are enjoying wonderful family time, laughing and catching up on the news - but there is one person who is unaware of her surrounding because her attention is focused on her cell phone. According to Alicia Betancourt, “The limited amount of time we spend with our families could be quality time... Quality, uninterrupted time spent together provides security and encourages people to get to know one another.” Family interaction ... ... middle of paper ... ... driving is avoidable. Using cell phone while driving is very dangerous and life risking because drivers would be easily distracted. Using cell phone while driving is unnecessary, unless in emergency situations. Cell phone is twenty-first century technological advancement. It has revolutionized today’s communication. It is an effective communication tools with advanced features. Cell phone provides convenient resources if used it properly and in moderation. However, if cell phone is overused, it could become a distraction device in the fallowing area: interpersonal relationship, academic learning, and driving. Cell phone should not be use excessively and immoderately. Cell phone should be use wisely because it is great technology device for students’ opportunity to learn and success in school, create stronger relationship bonds, and safer road place for everyone.

People think that the technology changing is a good thing, but it just makes everything more dangerous. The second reason is in consideration. Many people don’t think that there stupid ch...

We have all heard the debate. Is driving while talking on your cell phone distracting to the driver? If it is what should be done about it? Since the culprit of some accidents has been the cell phone, many people are calling for a ban on the use of cell phones while driving. Texting and driving kills! A cell phone can be a bad distraction for anyone, especially if they are driving. Ever since the automobile was invented, there have been many distractions that drivers and those around them have had to worry about. ¨People take their hands off the wheel for many reasons.”(Three types of driving distractions.)People have been seen putting on makeup using their rear view mirror while driving down the road. Cell phones provide a GPS that is helpful to many drivers trying to find their way. Despite offering this incredible benefit of having a phone, using cell phones while driving has become a major cause of accidents. Drivers that use their cell phones while driving are not giving their full attention to what is happening in front of them; which is not only harmful to them, but the other drivers around them too. While driving and using a cell phone, the driver is operating two machines at once. That puts the driver and surrounding drivers in danger. Distraction takes over everyone at some point, but it should not be while driving a vehicle.
”Many accidents are blamed on distracted driving and most of the distractions are caused by cell phone usage” (Schulte). “Checking messages, emails and social media is a top priority for many people and they will do it on the road while driving” (Schulte). No matter what age the driver is, no one should be texting while driving. While driving, adults and teenagers cannot wait a few minutes to pick up their cell phone and send a text or respond to one, they need to do it now. Car crashes are four times more common to take place while the driver is on their mobile device over any other causes. According to Bret Schulte, talking on a cell phone is not as dangerous as texting these days. (Schulte) But when driving, neither should be done while driving because if you take your eyes off the road for a split second anything can happen. It’s hard for all drivers, especially teenagers, to put down the cell phone and put their hands on the wheel, which results in many car crashes. “A Virginia Tech Transportation Institute study of commercial drivers revealed that texting while driving was the riskiest type of driver distraction, making drivers 23 times more likely of getting into a safety-critical event.” (Virginia Tech Transportation Institute 2009). Distracted driving is a serious problem in the United States and it is due to the distraction of
One of the worst negative effects that cell phones have on teens is distracted driving. Accidents are more prone to happen when a cell phone is involved, especially with teenagers. Students go to school to obtain a good education and to succeed in life, but if they are constantly on a cell phone and not paying attention in class this will not happen. The classrooms need to stay lecture driven, but how will they if technology is involved. Cell phones should not be allowed in the classroom for the reasons of cheating, distractions, and texting. Drivers using their cell phones while driving are less concentrated on the road. Using yourself phone not just only reduce your attention on the road but also reduced the attention on the speed, reaction time, and avoiding hazards on the road. Distracted drivers cause fatal accidents every day. However, there are still no laws to prevent fatal accidents.
Today’s cell phone is the front line technology at our fingertips. Keeping this in mind the use of cell phones have become an affair when it comes to allowing teens to use them in educational environments, such as schools. One part of society supports the use of cell phones while the other part of society disapproves the use of cell phones. I personally believe that cell phones should not only be allowed in school, but cell phones should be mandatory just like a textbook. Cell phones do not only allow students to stay united with friends and family, but cell phones are also a magnificent learning system, and they boost the liable use of technology.
Too many people haven’t realized how dangerous it is to text and drive using a cell phone until they get into a fatal accident. Teenagers are so addicted to their phone they must answer a text or call instantly, even while driving. It is never okay to use your phone while driving. Studies have also shown that 1 in every 4 car accidents in the United States are caused by cell phone use. Nearly 333,000 injuries occur each year due to cell phone use while driving. So many people don 't realize how many people can lose their lives and get severely injured. No matter what the text or call is, it can always wait. Cell phones become extremely important for peoples on a daily basis. Not only because of its function of texting, being a calendar, notebook but also of its symbolic meaning of modernization. Recently A prevailing debate over whether the student could use their phone in the classroom leads teachers and parents concerning about what is the propitiate line for the mobile device usage in school. It is important for young people to embrace the modern technology. However, to the underage students, mobile phone could be an invisible killer of their future career. No matter how important that people value cell phones in their life, cell phone itself is just a tool meant to improve our life, not to distort people’s life. Thus, school still should
