Novels may contain more details or different information than a film contains. This could be because of the ratings a movie could receive depending on what they involve. Because of this, there could be deleted scenes or less detail about certain events. The Catching Fire film and novel have many important similarities and differences. By comparing and contrasting the Hunger Games novel and film, one can see that the film was effective in conveying some themes, and was not effective in conveying others. Both the novel and the film portray the theme of humane vs. inhumane. They show how the capitol took advantage of the districts and how careless they were. The capitol was considered the enemy. In the novel it describes the man from district 11 making the sound of Rue to show respect for Katniss after giving her victory speech. It explains how Katniss was then taken inside the building but gets out to see the man get shot in the head by the …show more content…
guards. Likewise, in the film the same situation occurs. Although, Katniss does not see the man getting shot in the head, it is assumed. Also, she sees the man getting carried away outside of the window from upstairs. These both portray this theme but both in different ways. Another theme addressed in the novel and film is violence. Violence takes place more so in the novel. This could be because of the reason of the ratings the film could have received. For example, in the book Katniss is said to have scratched Haymitch after hearing the news about Peeta after the games. In the film, unlike the novel, Katniss only slaps Haymitch. This is then broken up when Plutarch sedates Katniss in the back. By acting out in both the film and novel, it shows Katniss’s feelings towards Peeta and how she put him first. One other theme from Catching Fire is Love.
This is portrayed in both the novel and the film but each in different ways. In the novel, while talking to Katniss in the woods, Gale tells her that he loves her. The only thing Katniss could make herself say was, “I know”. She later realized she should have replied in a different manner. On the other hand, Gale is more direct by asking Katniss if she loves him. Katniss then begins to tell him how she can’t think about that at that moment. Both let Gale down but approached the topic in different ways. Between the Catching Fire novel and film, there are many similarities and differences. Some major similarities are the love and compassion people share for each other such as Peeta and Katniss. Also, the love between Katniss and Gale. Some major differences are the detail given for each major event. The film leaves out information that is said in the book. Therefore, I believe that you can understand a story more and obtain more information by reading a novel than watching the
movie.

Movies based on books are not always accurate relative to the plot of the book. In Fahrenheit 451 it can be said, there are some particular contrasts between the book and the movie. Despite the fact that the film emphasizes the subjects and premise of the book, there are numerous distinctions to differentiate. The motion picture Fahrenheit 451 is not accurate, taking into account the book's plot.

Usually movies try to take the story to a different level or by adding parts or just try to change it to a completely different story. Some of the differences between the movie as to the book are some little and large differences. They might also try taking little parts away that will change how the readers see the story characters. An example of that would be Walter not smoking in the movie (Pg 115). Walter usually smokes because he is stressed or just as a way to relax. Walter also does not get punched by Mam...

From a structural perspective, movies and novels appear as polar opposites. A film uses actors, scripts, and a set in order to create a visual that can grab and keep the attention of their viewers. However, an author strives to incorporate deeper meaning into their books. Despite these differences in media, 1984 and The Hunger Games present unique, yet similar ideas.

The films setting gives more of an idealistic tone to the imagery that helps the setting unfold itself in each scene compared to the book but the books setting has more figurative language and lets the readers imagine the setting as they read which gives the book a different tone. Both the book and the film use a great description for the setting which allows the reader to either imagine the settings as they please or to look at straight from the scene.
The main character, Katniss, volunteers as tribute for her district to save her sister from having to be tribute. Upon arriving in the Capitol for the games, she sees just how vast the gap between the Capitol and districts are. To fight against this class struggle, she begins to revolt. At first this comes in the form of small things, like shooting an arrow at a pig feast of Capitol higher-ups and refusing to kill her friend in the games, resulting in the first ever co-victors of the Hunger Games. Katniss’ actions soon lead to full blown rebellion in the districts, starting a revolutionary war between them and the Capitol. At one point Katniss remarks: “My ongoing struggle against the Capitol, which has so often felt like a solitary journey, has not been undertaken alone. I have had thousands upon thousands of people from the districts at my side.” (Catching Fire 90). In true Marxist fashion the working class needed to use a violent revolution to confront the class struggle against the ruling
