The clinics provide economic as well as noneconomic value to Newland Hospital through the concept of synergy. Synergy is the state in which two or more things work together in a particularly fruitful way that produces an effect greater than the sum of their individual effects (Business Dictionary). In this case, the primary care practices provide noneconomic value to the hospital which includes innovation, technology, and expanded workforce. Frequently noneconomic value is subconsciously obtained as most organizations are concerned with the financial ramifications of vertical integration. Furthermore, noneconomic value often yields economic value to the parent organization. Through vertical integration, the hospital is unintentionally acquiring
In this case, the reader learns that liquidity is a better than average. The ratio and cash on hand have been better than 2013 from the past years. Moreover, it shows that the hospital has a higher ability to meet its cash obligation because it has more security compared to other hospitals. Funding allows hospitals to control funds and limit investments. Not-for-profit organizations help provide more services and margin of safety. Therefore, creditors look for a margin of safety so that the community that financed a small portion of total financing can be returned to the owners by leveraging. Capitalization ratio measures the funds that were borrowed and the assets that have been used. The coverage ratio measures the number that time they fixed financial charges. The time's interest earned ratio shows the ability of the hospital to meet
Springfield General Hospital (SGH) is committed to high quality healthcare for patients, and providing tools to support physicians, nurses and pharmacists. SGH leadership approved the computerized physician order entry (CPOE) system as a solution to reduce prescription errors, and the results of the CPOE project are disappointing. The data show increased prescribing errors after implementing the CPOE; resulting in increased costs for adverse drug events, rather than the planned cost reduction (Spector, 2013). This change management plan provides the SGH board of directors and executive management team pragmatic steps to increase quality for patients by assessing the root issue of hospital

Integrated Managed Care Organization- The organization is properly aligned for the primary driver being cost cutting services. Since all entities within the organization are responsible and affected by any expenses endured on any entity being unfavorable or favorable, the foundation serves as a primary motivator to reduce costs at all levels. This alignment eliminates any financial gains from driving high utilization of services or higher intensity services within the organization. Ultimately, this system allows the physician medical group to drive patient care, being responsible for the clinical care decisions as opposed to health plan making those decisions as designed in other organizations. This is the preferable model for Medicaid
The cost of Medical equipment plays a significant role in the delivery of health care. The clinical engineering at Victoria Hospital is an important branch of the hospital team management that are working to strategies ways to improve quality of service and lower cost repairs of equipments. The team members from Biomedical and maintenance engineering’s roles are to ensure utilization of quality equipments such as endoscope and minimize length of repair time. All these issues are a major influence in the hospital’s project cost. For example, Victory hospital, which is located in Canada, is in the process of evaluating different options to decrease cost of its endoscope repair. This equipment is use in the endoscopy department for gastroenterological and surgical procedures. In 1993, 2,500 cases where approximately performed and extensive maintenance of the equipment where needed before and after each of those cases. Despite the appropriate care of the scope, repair requirement where still needed. The total cost of repair that year was $60,000 and the repair services where done by an original equipment manufacturers in Ontario.

Shay, P. D., & Mick, S. S. (2013). Post-Acute Care and Vertical Integration After the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Journal Of Healthcare Management, 58(1), 15-27.
A merger is a partial or total combination of two separate business firms and forming of a new one. There are predominantly two kinds of mergers: partial and complete. Partial merger usually involves the combination of joint ventures and inter-corporate stock purchases. Complete mergers are results in blending of identities and the creation of a single succeeding firm. (Hicks, 2012, p 491). Mergers in the healthcare sector, particularly horizontal hospital mergers wherein two or more hospitals merge into a single corporation, are increasing both in frequency and importance. (Gaughan, 2002). This paper is an attempt to study the impact of the merger of two competing healthcare organization and will also attempt to propose appropriate clinical and managerial interventions.
Horizontal integration consists of expanding a service through buying the competence or joining them to create a stronger company that provides the same service. Vertical integration is when a company creates or manages its own providers or created or manages the distribution services. When we think, how a healthcare facility works, we can easily imagine the concept of a human body, going from head to the toes. In the same ways, healthcare facilities need a network of providers in almost every healthcare service. The way that organization deals with providers and distributors to assure the outcome of a service or a produce for a population, it is called integration and integrated organization is also called Integrated Delivery Systems (IDS).
Synergistic gains are generated when there are a bundle of actors that can provide a higher level of value together than otherwise could have been achievable comparing the companies operating on their own (Eun and Resnick, 2007). As Homeplus expanding its business through acquiring its competitor (Homever) and convenience stores (C-Space), there were synergistic gains for Homeplus. The synergistic gains imply advantages such as shared production and product development, and expansion of market presence. Since the acquired firms (Homever and C-Space) share their product categories with Homeplus, there is a gain of larger economies of scale that can lower the production cost for Homeplus. Thus, it can be seen that the integration strategy of Homeplus generates a clear synergy.

Within the University of Kansas Hospital Authority, the Biomedical Engineering Department is lacking a firmer training and comprehendible policy. Is there a better protocol to encompass training through supervision Biomedical Engineering Technicians? The issue is how to more effectively acquire continuous training and properly educate all Biomedical Engineering Technicians, from new hire and maintain training until they wish to leave the hospital. The comprehension policy is need of being rewritten in order to properly judge the individuals skills and knowledge of the equipment.
By purchasing the primary care practices, Newland Hospital has created a health system. Health systems (HSs) are formerly associated health services organizations (HSOs) that have joined together for a multitude of reasons. HSs arise from a mutual need and a willingness among the participating HSOs/HSs to share knowledge, capabilities, risk, and costs to leverage innovation, and to take advantage of complementary strengths and capabilities (Longest & Darr, 2000, pg. 609). Additionally, such an integration unifies ownership of tangible and intangible assets, creates economies of scale, and expands the pool of patients. This particular form of integration is referred to as vertical integration, the coordinating, linking, or incorporating within a single organization 's activities or entities at different stages of the production process- in healthcare the process of producing and delivering patient care (Longest & Darr, 2000, pg. 93).
Competitive advantage matters greatly to those responsible for the management of healthcare institutions.
