Our mutual patient Darlene Boyle was seen in the clinic on 7/5/16 for medical clearance. Her EKG and Chest X-Ray was within normal limits. Her CBC showed elevated WBC's and she will be referred to Hematology. However, there are no finding that would prevent the patient from going through with her surgical procedure.

On October 13th I was fortunate enough to be able to interview Sandi Lopez. Lopez is from Grand Island, Nebraska and has also lived in Kansas for a few years. At first she was not quite sure on what to do with her career pathway. She wanted a job where she could be able to help others and her community. Lopez says that having many of her friends being police officers is what got her more into law enforcement. She says hanging out around her friends telling her stories about being officers made her really want to be a part of the law enforcement department. However, she says it was a very hard decision to make knowing the fact that she would have to work long hours and being with her family was very important to her. In the end, she decided
Discrimination in the workplace continues to be topics and issues of discussion, despite efforts to minimize or eliminate its ugly head. Discrimination is defined as the unfair or prejudicial treatment of people based on race, gender, disability or age (Fieser, 2015). Furthermore, some companies has used other forms in conjunction with discrimination like sexual harassment to mask unjust treatment in the workplace. Lilly Ledbetter was an employee at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Inc. for over 19 years. During this period, she consistently received low rankings in her annual performance-and-salary reviews. As a result, Lilly received significantly lower raises than her male counterparts, which led to her filing a civil lawsuit
The mass media loves a scandal; it focuses on the most outrageous cases in order to make profit and often blows things out of proportion in order to make a better story. The media coverage of Debra Lafave’s case is a perfect example. The mass media not only hindered the court in leading a fair trial, exposing the teenager at the center of the case by publishing his photo and name in European newspapers, it also allowed the offender to receive a lighter sentence. The crime that Debra Lafave committed, having sexual intercourse with a minor, who was also one of her students, is deviant not only criminally but socially in the United States. Yet the media coverage partially helped her receive a lighter sentence because of the focus on her looks,
Physical Domain: Abigail Tremucha is the 4th daughter of Jessie Tremucha Jr. and Estela Tremucha. Her eye color is brown just like the rest of her family, and is the darkest of the Tremucha children. Hailing from the Philippines, Abigail is a petite young girl, weighing in at a mere 60 lbs at the height of 4’7”. With this information, she is at the 4th percentile in the weight category and at the 25th percentile in the height category for girls her age. Despite her small stature, she is still rather healthy. When the weather is nice, she would go and play outside with her sisters, doing activities such as riding her bike and rollerblading on the sidewalk and spending roughly an hour or two in
On admission, a complete physical assessment was performed along with a blood and metabolic panel. The assessment revealed many positive and negative findings. J.P. was positive for dyspnea and a productive cough. She also was positive for dysuria and hematuria, but negative for flank pain. After close examination of her integumentary and musculoskeletal system, the examiner discovered a shiny firm shin on the right lower extremity with +2 edema complemented by severe pain. A set of baseline vitals were also performed revealing a blood pressure of 124/80, pulse of 87 beats per minute, oxygen saturation of 99%, temperature of 97.3 degrees Fahrenheit, and respiration of 12 breaths per minute. The blood and metabolic panel exposed several abnormal labs. A red blood cell count of 3.99, white blood cell count of 22.5, hemoglobin of 10.9, hematocrit of 33.7%, sodium level of 13, potassium level of 3.1, carbon dioxide level of 10, creatinine level of 3.24, glucose level of 200, and a BUN level of 33 were the abnormal labs.
In conclusion to my case study on Zeena Frome, I’m diagnosing her with the medical disorder, Hypochondria. She has shown many signs of this medical condition like her continuous consumption of medication, excessive doctor’s visits, and her continuous pains and discomfort. I believe that the best way for Zeena to treat this illness would be to follow the recommendations above of getting a therapist, along with trying to break the ongoing cycle she has put herself in. By following this, she should be able to start seeing some improvement overtime. Although she may not make a full recovery, this will certainly help her a great
Amberley demonstrates how she is able to ride, by attaching a seat belt that hooks behind her saddle to hold her in place. She also has two Velcro straps she attaches to hold her legs in place (marketplace). Amberley is convinced she will be able to walk again so she continues to spend an hour of her day in her frame/strider that allows her to stand and strengthen her leg muscles (new mobility) Amberley is currently heading back to Utah where she will be able to fully heal her two broken knees she got on July 4, when her horse Power fell while turning the third barrel to run home (new mobility). Amberley plans to continue to make her famous wheelchair Wednesday videos along with her speeches to help encourage people that no matter what happens
All diseases and disorders are categorized by a set of symptoms, or signs that are indicative of certain diseases or disorders. Thus, symptoms are important when diagnosing a person. They serve as a communication tool between the clinical psychologist and the client. When detecting symptoms of a person, it allows the clinician to understand the client’s physical, emotional, and mental discomforts. Using the symptoms reported by the client, the clinician can then determine what the client’s clinical diagnosis is.
Leanne Teirnan, a sixteen year old female of Bramely, Leeds, in West Yorkshire, Britain disappeared Sunday, November 26th, 2000 around 5pm. Commuting back from her friends house after Christmas shopping, Leanne decided to travel through a dimly lit, public walkway known as Houghley Gill, only a mile from her house. She often used this pathway as a shortcut to get home from her friends house. Little did the teenagers know, this would be the last time they would ever see each other again. Meanwhile, a figure loomed in the woods waiting for his next victim-Leanne Teirnan. Realizing her daughter never came home, Leanne’s mother filled out a missing person report that night and the search began. After months of public appeals, and an immense search
Due to the fact that the case study explains how Tonya was retained in kindergarten, I would be comfortable saying Tonya is somewhere in the age grouping of seven or eight years old, making her fit into the middle childhood stage. I feel in some way that Tonya is more mature for her age. She has to get up to take care of her brother, which obviously means she is getting herself ready in the morning for school. Tonya’s social-emotional development fits more for a child in their early adolescent stage. Since the teacher explains, “Tonya challenged my patience, professionalism, and decision making” (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2010, pp. 3). This type of development is primarily shown in the grouping of ten to fourteen years of age. Tonya’s aggression may be because some children show poor behaviors towards peers that are unacceptable (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2010). This is typical for children in her age group even if it is only a small percentage.
There is a problem I have with Katie Nolan, and the problem isn't Katie Nolan. The issue with her is that she is young and attractive. You see, on Twitter and through conversations with friends I have told people I am a fan of Katie Nolan and her work. And I get the same answer almost every time. "Yeah but are you really?" Or "yeah but it's just because she's good looking, right?" Of course it's not. A few months ago while re-listening to some old Jay and Dan podcasts I stumbled across the episode with Nolan. She was funny, personable and clicked amazingly with Jay and Dan (let's hope for some more from the three of them in the future). Not knowing who she was I found myself at her YouTube channel where I began to watch some of her more popular videos.
