When a company has endured tough competition, it is important to have established steps for accomplishing greater opportunities within an industry. If problems within a company are not handled accordingly, it will result in the termination of a company. According to the article, “Thus, the ability to manage change, while continuing to meet the needs of stakeholders, is a very important skill required by today 's leaders and managers” (McNamara). Durant founded General Motors and they have become a pioneer in the automotive corporation, which makes them one of the largest vehicle manufactures in the world. Their global headquarter is located in Detroit, Michigan in the United States of America. The company has employed more than 215,000 employees and have partnered with more than 31,000 companies. GM has inquired about digital communication and carryout business in over 50 different countries, across 6 different continents to support their manufacturing operations. General Motors has a vision that focuses on becoming the world leader in relations to transportation services and products. GM prides their company on earning customers for life by treating them with respect in all aspects of their services. They have created a culture to earn the loyalty of their customers and provide them with exceptional service for the lifetime of their vehicle. The company can account for more than 15 percent of vehicles in the global market. According to General Motors website, “General Motors provides a complete range of vehicles that meets the needs and expectations of drivers on a truly global scale. There are 10 distinctive automotive brands under the General Motors corporate umbrella: Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Opel, Vauxhall, Holden, Baojun, Wuling, and Jiefang”. Today, Ford Motor is one of the world’s biggest automobile companies and was incorporated in early 1903. They began manufacturing assembly lines to mass produce automobile in the 20th century, which put them directly in a competitive industry. They have many brands today that have become the face of their corporations and they are the Ford Mustang, Lincoln, F-Series pickup trucks, Focus, Taurus and Fiesta. Compared to other competitors their finance credit department is one of the leading automobile financing units in the United States. Their operation spans worldwide with around 65 auto plants that executes their innovations in the industry. Toyota Motors Corporation was created in 1937 with their first plant called Koromo that started the operation. They are considered to be one of the largest auto manufactories in the world running head to head with General Motors. Toyota offers a diverse range of automobiles from sport and luxury cars, subcompact, trucks, SUV’s, buses and minivans. Their engine usage is mainly hybrid or combustion but they also use Daihatsu Motors and Hino Motors for some of their vehicles.
