Campbell County, Kentucky offers a very interesting case study of politics at work. The many different variables that can possibly affect how counties as a whole vote are present in Campbell County, and the interplay between all these variables is the topic of this paper. In order to accurately predict the outcome of the election, it is important to be familiar with all the different socio-economic factors that influence the daily lives of the people who are pulling the levers in the voting booths. This paper will give a brief description of Campbell County, followed by a survey of how they have voted in the past eight Presidential Elections. The best kind of presidential candidates for this county will be discussed, the results of the 1996 Presidential Elections, as well as what the different parties are doing in Campbell County in order to achieve better results. As a result of the analysis that was required for this paper, I will show sufficient evidence to support my conclusion that George W. Bush will win Campbell County over Al Gore by a margin of 54% - 44%.
As the lease of my apartment is coming to an end it had me thinking of achieving my own American Dream of home ownership but as I do my research I find the dream is far from coming true. I am sure that the issue of housing prices and rent rates are what most of us Bay Area residents talk about and debate. It is an issue that needs to be addressed by the officials of the area, city mayors, affordable housing committees, social justice activists, lawmakers, and even employers. Skyrocketing prices, low inventory, and investors’ bidding wars are not only pushing the middle and lower classes out of San Francisco and the Bay Area out but will completely eliminate them.
I hope to leave NC State as a young adult who is ready and prepared to enter society with a determined mindset and hard work ethic. I believe that I will be perfectly capable of achieving my goals and and aspirations as an NC graduate, and will graduate with the experience to take on challenges that may await me in a future career. Although I am still unsure of my desired field of study, I am confident that I will be able to discover a career path I will enjoy through the Exploratory Studies college. I am excited to enroll as an undergraduate student at NC State, and look forward to the opportunities ahead of me in the college of Exploratory
Instead of focusing on the relationship between federal housing policy and segregation, as does Mohl, DiPasquale explores how rental housing and federal policies affect each other. In her article, “Rental Housing: Current Market Conditions and the Role of Federal Policy,” DiPasquale challenges the federal policies that were in place at the time she wrote her article. She brings to attention her belief that in the past, government policies have given much of their focus to homeowners and little to the renter. Through her research, DiPasquale had found that rental housing had become increasingly less affordable, especially to poorer tenants, who are spending a greater portion of their income on rent. This not only poses a problem to the renters, but also to the landlords, for if the renters cannot pay the rent, the landlords get a vacancy and no income from their property. She also asserts her belief that homeownership is not for everyone, and uses evidence from the recent housing crisis to support her claim. Her article calls for a revamping of current federal policies to level the playing field between home owning and renting. By doing so, households will have more choices available to them when it comes to choosing suitable housing for them
One does not have to graduate high school and go straight to a four-year university. It is sometimes better for a student to go to a community college and focus on transfer courses, or simply get an Associate’s Degree. On the other hand, there are young adults that prefer to leap straight into a university and focus on the specific program for their Bachelor’s Degree. Although they are both a lot alike, there are many differences between the two. Universities are known for having large campuses; consequently, resulting in large number of students in each class.

The fact remains that these restrictions and zoning regulations have resulted in the dramatic increase in housing prices, which increased the problem of housing segregation. In 1990 census shows that 30% of African Americans lived in neighborhoods which were 90% or more black, while the remaining percentage of African Americans still lived in predominantly black areas. In May 1991 the Census Bureau reported that 57% of American families could not afford a median priced home in the area in which they lived. This percentage disproportionately affected both African American and Hispanics who made up 75% of those

Attending college has changed quite a lot over the years. When it first arose, it was only accessible to the wealthy, and it was unheard of for everyone else. Only a few decades ago, a bachelor's degree could almost guarantee a comfortable job, and it was another advantage to any resume. In our current times, many students struggle and are unable to go to college due to the rising price tag that is not showing any signs of slowing down. A college degree is what most employers look for now-a-day, making it more essential than ever before.
...o the fringe. However, the pendulum of society has recently begun to swing in the opposite direction, and many Americans are once again settling cities in pursuit of their better way of life. Urban infill development helps make this new American dream possible. While urban infill development cannot fix all urban problems, it is a start toward developing more sustainable and socially enriching environments to live, play, and work. Like any other solution to remedy urban ills, the strategy has its challenges. However, efforts have been made to make infill development for attractive for developers and existing urban residents alike. It is time to stop focusing less on all the ways infill development is wrong and shift attention to all the ways infill development is right — right for urban areas, right for urban areas’ inhabitants, and right a changing American society.

Expectations of today’s educational qualifications for high school students are different than it was in the past. It is not uncommon to hear about a student who did not graduate from school. As shown in table 1, 97 students from Stanly County dropped out of school in the 2011- 2012 school year (“Grade 7-13 Dropout Counts and Rates (pdf.62kb)”). Last school year 3.01 percent of North Carolina’s high school students dropped out of school according to the 2011-12 Consolidated Data Report, as a result the total number of students who dropped out of high school in the 2012 year is 13,488. It is also noted that the top five reasons NC students drop out of school are: 1. Attendance, 2. Enrollment in a Community College, 3. Unknown, 4. Moved, School status unknown, 5. Lack of Engagement. (“Dropout prevention and Intervention”) This number is very high considering that there are only five major high schools in the Stanly county district. This is why I think it is important that something should be done to reduce the high school dropout rate in Stanly County.
Paul Taylor, lead author and director of the Pew Social and Demographics Trend project, states "the public does have a sense there is a real-world payoff with education."(Adam 2). Taylor conducted a survey, in which people were asked how much more money they made because of having a degree or how much money they did not make because of not having a college degree. Adults who obtained a college degree assume they make $20,000 a year more because of having a degree. Opposed to the adults without a college degree, who assume they earn $20,000 a year less due to having only a high school diploma (Adams 2). This was compared with the 2010 Census Bureau data which demonstrated, adults who earn a college degree make $19,550 a year more than adults who do not obtain a college degree (Adams

The United States Department of Education public the data that shows the four-year graduation rate in California State University, Northridge is approximately 14%, the average six-year and eight-year graduation rate is between 44% and 49%, respectively. I can not help but wonder exactly the matter that is holding us back from graduating? How can we face the challenge to learn more and successfully graduate? After my first month of CSUN, I realized that I must sacrifice inclination to be more effective in my academic life, so in order to do this, I have to decide what my priorities are. So how will I become a more effective student and combat the negative factors on becoming successful? The right answer for me is to manage my time, improve my study habits, setting goals or schedule, prioritize and balance our normal life(social, health, entertainment and daily life). I believe that through certainly carry out these things that we would learning in a higher level and getting back on track, thus , hopefully we can graduate in four years.
